When I was 18, I was arrested for "Joyriding" (i.e., stealing an automobile for the sole purpose of driving it around). My father came to visit me in jail, and told me he was sorry he'd somehow failed me as a parent. Then he told me he WAS NOT going to bail me out, nor hire me a lawyer, nor hinder my chance at growth in any other way. After three months sitting in the pokey, waiting on my plea bargain, I was sentenced to, and served, three years probation with credit for "time served". I'm now 61 years old, have had a good, productive life, and have never committed another serious crime. I just wish my father was still around, so I could thank him. So young lady, you did the right thing for your child.
Yeah boy. Spending ninety days in that jail will definitely impress the vast majority of us to NOT go back for seconds. Glad God made a way for you through it and afterwards. You would then possibly get off. She is now a wife, mother, and successful lawyer with 8 employees. Too often we make excuses for our children and coddle them. You can't make them accept truth. For some that hurts. Like all people we all have our opinion(s) on the things that are going on in this world. Is brutality, racism, bullying wrong? Absolutely without a doubt. So is breaking the law whether you have been appointed to enforce it or abide by it.
This woman is so courageous and strong. I turned my child over to authorities many years ago. She left home at 16 and wouldn’t speak to me for years. She is now a wife, mother, and successful lawyer with 8 employees. Too often we make excuses for our children and coddle them. Sometimes we have to be tough and do the right think to teach our children the lesson of accountability and responsibility. This woman is an amazingly strong and intelligent person. Her child will thrive.

Does that make what happened to Floyd right? Absolutely not. The man that killed him should face the full extent of the punishment the law can inflict, but be careful who you venerate. Floyd was no MLK, Ghandi or Frederick Douglass. He committed some very unpleasant crimes, not exactly an ideal role model.
Not all people are criminals, and I firmly believe that no life is inherently more or less valuable than any other. To paraphrase MLK: 'I hope my children will be judged not by the colour of the skin but the content of their character'. I can't stand this idea that people just call you 'racist'. 'sexist' or 'bigoted' when they hear any opinion they even marginally disagree with. You disagree, big deal. Respect each other's rights to personal opinions and go talk to people who do agree with you if you can't handle something like so simple.
I refuse to surrender the notion that people can have a moral stance on issues regardless of the colour of their skin, their gender, or any other biological quality they possess, and anyone that things otherwise is a racist, sexist or a bigot themselves.

You have these out of control welfare queens having babies like alley cats in multiple failed relationships and they're trying to raise boys without the presence of a positive male presence in the home. Believe you me, we were poor but I had two parents, Mom was strong and maintained order in the house, but when Dad's car pulled up in front of the house, a hush fell over the household. They've never been to the police station nor to the schools to speak to the principal about our behavior, we knew better. I'm an old man now but my parents' training will always be with me.
