Hello sir, I would like your opinion.
I fish as a family and would like to catch fish quite easily.
Would you advise me more carolina technique or jig metal lure?
Thanks
Man I really love these videos .. I love fishing off the beach.
Thanks! More to come
I think it would kill up north for striper. Maybe even add some feathers and fish it kinda like a buck tail? I’m late to the party, been on some missions.
This is making me want to try out a kastmaster in the surf. A good way to work those “irons” is to give it a pop every so often and let it flutter. Works great in SD bay.
Yes, too excited to watch to the end to comment! Thank you Edward, I use something similar but with a treble hook at the end, with those lures I usually snag fish going for the bait rather than actually getting bit…also lifting and falling is the best retrieval for that style lure…
The smaller 1 ounce get bit but it’s a hard lift and fast retrieval and stop let hit hit bottom rest and repeat 🍻
Thanks for the tip! That makes a lot of sense!
@@Hook2Cook thank you for trying something new… I’ve been begging every OG Fishing RUclipsr to try it…you’re the only brave soul so far but please try it again with the lift and fall technique or with a smaller profile like a 28g/1ounce if perch are your target…that bait with technique gets huge predators to bite so up your gear (line strength, I use 30# braid to about a 4’-5’ 50# mono/or floro leader) and be ready for a real fight, I promise….I also have fished the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana and follow Bama Beach Bum and crew and have used these techniques with success here in SoCal
Amazing vid Edward. Love to see you trying out new lures. This lure really had potential. I wonder why they weren’t smacking that thing. Must have something to do with the conditions. You had a very gloomy morning. Maybe that played into it. Congrats on that VS though. That reel is a beauty. Thanks for making Monday a little bit better with your post!! 🤙Definitely needed some hook2cook to start the week.
Thanks Steve! If the bigger perch were there and in numbers it would’ve been getting bit left and right probably. And trip out! Winning that reel was so rare! Still in disbelief!😅
bad ass - got this in your tackle box this year? so cool to see you win that!!!!
I have very similar thoughts to you about looking for hard baits around 4" & 3/4 or 1 oz. The days when wind is not a problem seem to be rarer & rarer. I also have a lot of problems with small fish eating the tails off my soft baits, and the only fish I seem able to find are the little 6" guys. Maybe I'm throwing too far, and I'm getting the little fish on the rear of the pack that are bullied off the front lines by the bigger fish? My beach doesn't have a lot of defined structure, it is mostly sandbars, and I keep thinking I need to throw past where the waves break to get past the sandbars.
What size hook are you using with the Crappie Slider?
$550.00 and awesome reel. lure wise might consider adding a feathered flash treble hook to this lure. You can make these yourself with some basics
I’m obsessed with catching bar Pearce in oceano area. What’s your favorite way to cook them?
Whole fried over rice with a ponzu dipping sauce!
I catch perch and jack smelt on epoxy jigs in Monterey bay. I actually caught a big smelt today on a 1oz joe baggs with a single hook. They work, but strictly on bigger fish that will also go for a Minnow type lure. Tip down and reel slow works well for me (or) tip at 45 degree angle and slight pumps while reeling just like LC or Calissa.
That’s good to hear! Definitely got bumped and hit on it. Maybe there just weren’t the big ones out there…
Thanks for the tips!
Love experimenting with new baits! The evening might be 🔥 Maybe try to catch a halibut with it?🤔
Yea seems the night bite has been better. Just sucks the sun is in your face the whole time.
That bait looked good. Maybe think about switching that big single hook OT for a treble similar in size to the hooks on the Calissa🤔
That’s what I did. I definitely liked the bait. Gunna give it another sho
Good morning E 👍🏼🇵🇭💯
Thought about you when hitting upload!
@@Hook2Cook Yessirr, bro I’ll be in SoCal August 6 😔 and MTF tournament when you wer hear I was in Vegas 😔 keep missing you but one day bro will hook up🙏🏽
It’s definitely an interesting lure I’m sure it will catch something much bigger in the right conditions. Buenos Nachos
Yea tried it today and got bit a few times. Brought in 2 fish halfway and the weight of it works as leverage and the fish pop off.
Those guys on the East Coast typically jig baits like that! Rip, drop, rip, drop.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
What make/model is the rod you are using?
The okuma Hawaiian custom 10 foot 7. Casts from 1/2oz to 2 oz
I have that Okuma 10’7. Does the vanstaal fit it ok? As in is it too small for that length of a pole. Thx 👍🏽
No it’s perfect. Even the weight is good and balanced
Great video. Where in cali area do you fish? I usually fish in half moon bay or pacifica
This is central coast San Luis Obispo area
any chnce of fishing while your up here ? i know it was mentioned last year, but didn't work out
Up where?
@@Hook2Cook the sf bay area
What rod are you using in the video?
It’s the okuma Hawaiian custom 1007
How long does it normally take callisa to ship been a bit more than a week or so and no one’s replying back on customer service
Not sure, sorry.
Why wouldn't you have switched back to the single hook knowing that it was getting bit?
What's good bro. Nice video.
I didn't go thr the tournament this year. My son was born this year. Hopefully I'll see you next year.
Is that rod a Phoenix?
thanks! congrats on the newborn. The rod is an okuma hawaiian custom 1007
@@Hook2Cook thank you ! Keep up the great work.
I love fishing in the fog! I never catch fish when the sun is hitting the water. Oh! #6 on the comments and #6 on the thumbs up! Gonna be a great day, starting off with a Hook2Cook video!
That’s right Q! Loving the fog. Wish the bite wasn’t foggy
Is there a limit on the surf perch? Size? How many?
10 is the limit no size limit
Some guys have all the luck! Lol enjoy that Van Staal! That reel will last u forever
Yes! It’s definitely the new baby
Hey guys! Listen how do I get on a list or whatever so I can find out about any and all fishing tournaments that are going to take place at anytime in the future? Please hook me up! Thanks you guys! John

Good morning 🌄
Good morning to you too!
I wonder how many of those babies ended up as dinner.
Why don't you try different color bucktail jigs I guarantee you they will catch your fish They're old school jigs
Not a bad idea. Maybe 3/4 oz bucktails
