I had a nice scrap room in the basement and it flooded. I lost everything. 4 expensive sewing machine, all my cabinets full of paper and all scrapbooking tools etc. nothing was worth saving. Lost all my paper pictures etc. No insurance would pay for it. Moved and started over again.
I am SO SORRY! That is heartbreaking. We aren't putting this thru insurance either. :(
It was at our son’s house and he needed the money to fix the basement. I’ve replaced things as money is available. Paper is the thing I need to build up.

Omg friend! You and your studio have been through it. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. I've actually been looking at my Dreambox is a similar light, recognizing that it's really just not working for me anymore. Thanks for empowering me to lean into this more to make the decisions I need to make for an optimal space.

Hugs. I went through something similar when Harvey hit Houston. The water came in through the windows, walls, and ceilings before it even started flooding. The battle to save things, that trauma stuck with me, but it does get better.

So sad 😢 glad you will get to use your dreambox again at some point…so beautiful. I’m sure something wonderful is around the corner, like the perfect rainbow room! But coming from someone still waiting for her craft room and dreambox (we can’t move til my husband is fully licensed), I just have boxes of crafts everywhere. Such a pain, but I pull out the desk every-time and put it away. You can still be creative, it’s just a little harder and more annoying! But the fact that you are embracing it and dealing with it so well is a true testament and I’m sure it will be a true blessing to others. ❤
Ohhhhhhh, Noooooo! That monsoon was no joke. Our road washed out in Calaveras County and had so much stress and worry about the waters reaching my jewelry studio and house.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. We all know how much we invest with time, money and love into our supplies. I ve been going through a declutter this year, trying to scale back and embrace what I truly love. It is hard to let go of physical items, especially when you aren’t given the choice! I hope this does help you “leap” to your next adventure. You have a wonderful attitude and I know whatever comes next for you will be amazing! Love. ❤

Amy, sending you special thoughts and wishes that what is past leads to a future that will hold brighter times and also the good memories of the past times in your studio. Several years ago my "new" house was unexpectedly flooded and I lost some irreplaceable memorabilia (photos and negatives, handwritten letters from family to me when I was on the mainland, handmade gifts, etc.). I cried, cleaned up my physical space, had ups/downs emotionally, and found strength to move forward thanks to family, friends and taking time to get over all that I was feeling. One of the hard things was the loss of security that my home was my safe space and spot to return to at the end of the day. Passing time, work (as a nurse at the hospital in an oncology unit), and believing things happen for a good reason led to me getting back to feeling I was OK and accepting things happen that cause a big bump in the road of life that I had to climb over regardless. I appreciate your current video above and all the YT videos you have shared with us. You have always inspired me creatively and as a human being! Please feel the negative and positive, continue to move onward, and know you are cared about and make a difference in this world. Prayers, hugs, and love to you and your family. Oh noooo! Our home was flooded by hurricane Irma in 2017 and 90%of my crafting studio was destroyed 😮- to top it off my home owners insurance did not cover content 🤯 (I know, crazy) - long story short- fast forward 6 years and I can honestly say I’m grateful for Hurricane Irma’s destruction because it made room for the changes I never would have made on my own! In retrospect- all things worked together for my good.
Good for you- for stopping and thinking! Before you leap you must bend your knees to prepare to catapult yourself in a different direction!
Leap lady, leap - you’ll land on your feet I’m sure of it!!!
Oh Shawnie - I am SO sorry. And love your honesty and sharing your perspective. We are in the same situation where insurance isn't going to cover any of this. So I welcome this outlook that you have. Thank you!!
I was blown away at how my community surrounded our family and helped us through this season- I believe God provided for us by using the hands and feet of people in our community. I prayed and trusted it would all work out and it did (not the way I thought it would and totally out of my control, but after all the dust settled we were better off than before the storm).
Keep your positive pants on, you’ll be better off for this experience- but only if you believe!
I am so sorry this has happened. My sister and my aunt both lost their homes in 1998, along with so many other friends and neighbors that year. I hope that you can salvage most of your property. Hugs and love in this time of change.

Wow this is tragic! I know how you feel....my basement flooded in June 2021....it was a SEWAGE BACKUP issue caused by the negligence of others and most of my community was affected. I had 16” of sludge down there and had to throw out a lot of stuff! Granted it wasn’t my craftroom!! But I did have many sentimental items, esp. Christmas stuff down there. I had to look at it as a way to purge and reorganize and there were many difficult processes to go through. Having it waterproofed and refinished was VERY costly but needed to be done anyway. “Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” right?? Thank you for your encouraging words....I hope to see a tour of your new space! P.S.....I love my Dreambox too!! TYFS ❤️🦋💜

I'm amazed that what "should be" a crafter's channel is so encouraging and uplifting. I'm sorry for your loss. After you feel all the feels, I hope you get super excited about a new studio. I just gave up a space that I loved to help a child. My new space, was A let down from the previous space. Or so I thought. My new space is actually so much better!!! I am so surprised! Let’s make Lemonade!!!!

Something similar happened to me last year during heavy rains in California. We’re still looking for a place. Meanwhile I’ve been creating on a wooden bed tray. It holds my sewing machine which has a start/stop button. No foot pedal needed. Other opportunities have opened up I never would have imagined. You’re the only other creative person on youtube I’ve seen who has been affected by the rains. I applaud your generous positive spirit and pray you find the perfect place for your creative needs.

I can relate Amy! The roof gave in in my diningroom so I have the same problem. The anxiety of situations like this can be overwhelming. Please keep us posted on what you are going to do from here. I’ll be thinking about you!

Oh Amy it’s awful to see how this space where all the magic happened has been destroyed by the torrential rain.
Then my mind flips to what you said in this video about your word of the year, and there is some kind of link I feel. Forcing a “leap” of faith that is extremely uncomfortable right now, but one that will bring so many new opportunities and fresh creativity your way.
A whole 2 lifetimes have happened since you began creating in that studio - Jack and Juniper, so I totally understand that grief & frustration with all those memories coincides with a positive feeling on all the possibilities in a new space.

I’m so sorry! Thank goodness no one was hurt. We had a flood, and I lost almost everything, but I have a much nice space to create now. Sunny days are ahead for you, because you are pure sunshine. 😊

Sorry to hear that this happened. This is the very scenario that scares me because Japan is very susceptible to earthquakes, tsunamis, and other disasters. But because of this, I think it’s very important to make sure to digitize and keep records of our work in several places! Even if we lose everything in the physical world, we will be okay! We will have the records both digitally, as well as in our hearts. Wishing you the best in rebuilding your studio!
