I grew up having my dad's mom and dad having a ceramic shop. Had over 35000 molds. In high school I'd work pouring greenware. Then when I graduated I worked there full time. I poured alot in my time. I poured lots as we sold to other ceramic shops the greenware. I also taught classes and fired the kilns. We had 3 different size kilns. Our biggest was a coffin kiln. It held alot of greenware. We also sold bisque pieces too. And we airbrushed pieces. It was heavy work. We had big molds weighing up to 150 pounds empty. You cut the excess off after you take them out of the mold. That's probably why I have to visit the chiropractor alot now. Can't say I miss it.

Hey Joe, pretty cool ceramics. You seem to do it all my friend! To bad about the neighbor’s garage. Was a fireman for 12 years, and it sucks fighting fire in the snow. It is not bad when you are in the heat of the battle, because of the heat being given off from the fire. The mop-up and rolling up the hoses is the part that sucks. By that time you are wet and very cold. You both try to keep warm.

Coming up soon, if I can get through all these comments (every time I finish them I click on the new ones and a whole new list pops up) I am going to pull the sled down and the snowshoes from above the workshop.

I grew up about just outside of Proctor, about 10 miles from you, in the 1950's and it was not uncommon to have temperatures minus 20 to minus 50 and at times lower. In the mid 1960's I worked at Wood Conversion in Cloquet and I used to make more money after work in the parking lot jump starting cars at $3 a pop than I did working at $2.56 per hour. People get complacent or just don't know that when you burn wood that keeping that chimney clean is a must. A dirty chimney coupled with a metalbestus chimney spells disaster. Most metal chimneys are rated at 2500 to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour, creosote fires mostly go up to about 4000 degrees Fahrenheit and burn through the pipe in about 30 minutes. There are several factors that go into Not getting a chimney fire, being lucky is set in at about one percent, a clean chimney tops the list at about 80 percent. Sorry this happened to your neighbors.

Good video. Sorry to hear about the neighbor's garage. I would place an order for a Joe & Zach survival mug. How far away are you guys from the nearest town? They always keep water in the trucks. I'm also guessing that your nearest fire department is volunteer. Meaning that when the pager sounds they respond to the station from home, work or wherever to get the fire trucks. It's not like down here in the cities or Duluth were they have he paid Department or Duty Crews where somebody is always at the station.

Use to help at a ceramic shop . With sticky molds she would use a small. Air compressor to dislodge the tough ones. So Joe can use his tools too. Lol

If you ever need more elastic bands for the molds. An inexpensive way to do it is to cut inner tubes into whatever width you need.
