- Mon thème préféré de Disney, qui s'appelle "réflexion" ou "mon vrai moi-même" en chinois. J'aime la version chinoise, parce qu'il s'agit de la langue d'origine de Mulan, mais surtout à cause du texte qui est très profond et poétique.
Les paroles chinoises décrivent Mulan, son égo, et sa recherche sans répit de l'authentique, et la chanson se termine par une prière de supplication adressée à son esprit.
L'instrumental ayant a été basé sur le style asiatique, c'est une combinaison harmonieuse avec la langue.
Pour ceux qui veulent apprendre le chinois mandarin, voici un sous-titrage que mon ami M. Xu, qui parle la langue a corrigé et vérifié. (Merci à lui) et auquel j'ai ajouté une traduction mot à mot pour j'espère, vous aidez à apprendre le fonctionnement de la grammaire.

The last part is really hard to translate. It's litterally a prayer addressed to her spirit.

@@akina3673 Hi native mandarin speaker here, the last part (start from 敞開我的胸懷) it means let out all my emotions, then chase it down(the "search" here is not quite like simply "looking for" cuz Mulan already knows who she really is, it's more like breaking the traditions and going after her true personality that starts to fly away), shout it out (who I really am). (Once I realize who I am) Express the true "me" therefore all the worries will be gone. (I tried to explain it in a logical way hope it helps)

@shushualoveshu you mean Cantonese spoken in Hong Kong and Macau. When you write it out you have to use traditional Chinese characters means Zh-Tw to write Cantonese out.
The Putonghua (Mainland Chinese) version is what Mulan would sing in. This is Taiwanese Mandarin, which is different from Mainland Chinese.
@@scornfvl sir there is no difference between mainland chinese and taiwanese mandarin. If you're talking about the taiwanese dialect, that'll be hokkien not taiwanese chinese

Yeah I love this scene of the father welcoming her back home. This animation of Mulan really is a scenaric masterpiece. I also like how gentle is his father when he comforts her on the bench, telling her the sweetest way possible that she is going to reveal herself at her own pace.

Coco Lee sings this version and the voice of Fa Mulan in this movie. She also sings the Mandarin Chinese pop version of Reflection ("Zi Ji" in Chinese) in the ending credits. She's one of the best pop divas in Taiwan. Her singing got me emotional and I personally like her singing the most. But Lea Salonga's singing was pretty great as well.

This is a such masterpiece ❤️😍. The singer’s voice brings so much sorrow to the song (which is absolutely perfect and expected due to what Mulan has been through after the terrible meeting with the matchmaker). And even then, her father comforts her saying she’s the most beautiful flower of all ❤️. From all Disney’s classics, Mulan is undoubtedly the sweetest and the most emotional. The honor and respect to the family are unquestionable ❤️

So this is Mulan if she could sing in her native language
Mandarin it's modern chinese, Mulan is medieval so the pronunciation would be different.
Well technically it would be Cantonese not Mandarin Chinese.
@@girlishgamer1 Are you sure about that? If you go off the original Ballad of Mulan, while not specified, it is believed she would have spoken Xianbei. From what I've seen, Disney's 1998 version is even less obvious so it well and truly could have been an older form of Han Chinese. There were a great many dialects at the time beyond Cantonese and Mandarin (and there still are to this day, they are just really uncommon). Furthermore, from my understanding, Cantonese is a southern dialect from around the Guangdong area and it seems unlikely to me that Mulan is from the south. Unless we know for certain where Mulan comes from, it is difficult to say with certainty exactly which dialect she spoke. If I'm being dumb and missing something obvious please say so.
@@girlishgamer1 the region and dynasty were Mulan is said to be from in real life Northern Wei they didn't use common dialects instead they used Tuoba a very distinct dialect mainly used in northern wei

I listen to the Chinese and Taiwanese versions and I love both of them. I just started listening to Disney songs in different languages and when I first hear her voice, I absolutely loved it. I've always loved the song Reflection sung by both Lea Salonga and Christina Aguleria...but this version is more beautifully done and has alot more meaning like wow....absolutely beautiful and it hits soo differently when sung in Mulan's native tongue....🌸🌸🌸

Mulan is the only princess that I like better when she sings in her native language because it just sounds so beautiful I am sorry to say this but the rest of the princesses singing in their native languages sound weird and off to me .
1:18 - 2:15 my favorite part of the song it just hits differently than the english or spanish version they cant even compare to the amount of emotion the singer in mandarin puts its just much better in mandarin .
I was never into princesses when I was a kid or early teenage years the only princesses I actually like Rapunzel , Mulan and Ariel but my favorite among this three is for sure MULAN .

Hi. My father is Chinese, but i was too stubborn to learn as an 8 year old. He had 33 LP's of Chinese music that, as a teenager, i thought sounded like constant whining. With this version of Mulan's Reflection, i don't hear the whining anymore. Has Disney changed China?

Sounds weird. They need a more northwestern accent. This sounds really modern.
That's right.
It may still sound modern but the Putonghua version is prettier and more correct in my opinion. However I think Cantonese is perfect for Mulan since it's closer to Old Chinese. Plus it's gentle with gorgeous vocals and translations.

You must be referring to the English singer. This one is in Mandarin Coco Lee which you actually use Taiwanese traditional Chinese characters to write out both Mandarin and Cantonese

This is definitely the best, best way to learn some chinese lyrics for fun, they pronounce words very clearly. The lyrics of the 2020 version of reflection are different, I will have to learn them all by heart again, lol !

Did you get used to the lyrics of "cover" version ? This one and the version sang by Liu Yifei are in one same CD Album called _"Mulan An Original Walt Disney Records Soundtrack"_
C'est vraiment beau parce que comme c'est sa langue d'origine, j'ai l'impression que c'est la vraie Mulan qui chante.
En plus les paroles en chinois sont beaucoup plus douces et poétiques. Elle soupire de ne pas être gracieuse comme la fleur de magnolia (Mulan signifie fleur)
