Coco Lee sings this version and the voice of Fa Mulan in this movie. She also sings the Mandarin Chinese pop version of Reflection ("Zi Ji" in Chinese) in the ending credits. She's one of the best pop divas in Taiwan. Her singing got me emotional and I personally like her singing the most. But Lea Salonga's singing was pretty great as well.

The singer’s voice brings so much sorrow to the song (which is absolutely perfect and expected due to what Mulan has been through after the terrible meeting with the matchmaker). And even then, her father comforts her saying she’s the most beautiful flower of all ❤️. From all Disney’s classics, Mulan is undoubtedly the sweetest and the most emotional. The honor and respect to the family are unquestionable ❤️
@@girlishgamer1 Are you sure about that? If you go off the original Ballad of Mulan, while not specified, it is believed she would have spoken Xianbei. From what I've seen, Disney's 1998 version is even less obvious so it well and truly could have been an older form of Han Chinese. There were a great many dialects at the time beyond Cantonese and Mandarin (and there still are to this day, they are just really uncommon). Furthermore, from my understanding, Cantonese is a southern dialect from around the Guangdong area and it seems unlikely to me that Mulan is from the south. Unless we know for certain where Mulan comes from, it is difficult to say with certainty exactly which dialect she spoke. If I'm being dumb and missing something obvious please say so.

It may still sound modern but the Putonghua version is prettier and more correct in my opinion. However I think Cantonese is perfect for Mulan since it's closer to Old Chinese. Plus it's gentle with gorgeous vocals and translations. This is the Taiwanese version.
