Just out of curiosity, have you considered changing the orientation of the glass capsule by 90 degrees? I say this because the coil appears to be wound along the axis of the glass capsule, which means that the coil wouldn't be orientated correctly the way you tested it.
Please suggest me to make a Automobile Workshop Inventory Management System with RFID. I want to give part ID to my bus spare parts with rfid tag after that they fix it on the bus we scanned the whole bus and identify is that possible or not.? Thanks for your suggestion Regard Zohaib
Thanks Tim and SparkFun great video, I know where I'm coming to shop in the future. I've got a question about the RFID Reader ID-3LA (125 kHz): www.sparkfun.com/products/11862 and the Antenna that you mentioned in the video. Where can i find an antenna on your site and Is it possible to build a custom antenna?
That IS nfc. They're the same tech as rfid, just used for different purposes. The main thing is that the range is very limited, max is generally about an inch, or 2.5cm for most. The range is largely dependent on the size of the antenna -- the larger the antenna, the larger the range, up to a few inches. Don't forget you're powering the tag through that wireless "connection," so while it's cool, it's not efficient.
If an ext. antenna is required ("mandatory") with the ID-3LA, what's the point of "range testing" it w/o an antenna?! What useful info does that provide? I'll answer that for you: None. Also the many refs to info in the previous video were not helpful for those who didn't see it. Would've been more useful with actual useful info on implementing it, like what's included, what's needed to get it to work.

hi can you suggest me a long range RFID reader working with around 3 to 4 meters..
Would drywall reduce the detection range? (i.e. hidden RFID door lock activation)
What about Micro NFC/RFID transponder - NTAG203 13.56MHz? Can I know the range of this tag as well!?
To work at SparkFun do I have to have piercings and an electronic degree?
***** do u work there?
A degree is nice, but not required. Piercings and tattoos will do.
Once those ear holes get big enough, he'll be able to put the round RFID tags in his ears...
Hi this is great, but i need how can i make this read form a 3 feet distance. Urgent please.

hello, is it possible with this read amutomotive glass transponders? temic/megamos/phillips.....
Those out of focus to focus transition shots are really annoying. I'd much rather just see the part.
+1
RFID mark of the beast

Please remove the unnecessary very distracting background beat.
