      Hi Cesar! When correctly hardwired the dash cam will turn off and enter park mode (if enabled in the dash cam's setting) when the car is off. I would have the installer check all the connections (ACC, BATT & GND) to confirm that they connected to the correct locations for ACC and BATT (I seen cases where the dash cam stays on constantly if ACC and BATT are reversed or connected to the incorrect locations that does not provide power at the correct time for both ACC and BATT) Here is my follow up detailed hardwire install if you want to see that process ruclips.net/video/K2iKXj82354/видео.html Cheers!

    Nice. Well, I cannot select a dash cam mirror until you find us the perfect choice ;-)
    Seriously, I'm waiting to find a mirror with just the right combination of features. However, I currently have my dash torn apart for other reasons, so I figured this would be a good time to install a hard wire kit for my future dash cam mirror. Am I correct that they probably all could use the same generic wiring?
    Is there a step-down device from the car wiring to USB that you would recommend, maybe even the one in this kit? I'd like to get a good step-down device because I want it to be hidden well behind the dash.
    I was thinking of using a USB C cable to future proof it, and then use a short adapter to micro at the end.
    Do these dash cams have a way to turn them on without having the key in ACC or would I need to wire up a switch if I wanted to do that?
    I'd like to be able to sit in the car with the ACC off and still get a good picture of what's behind me. I'll just have to remember to turn it off when I get out.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Tayler! ah I typically recommend sticking with the hardwire specified for your dash cam here is a video where I go more into detail ruclips.net/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/видео.html including the hardwire features you want to look for. Regarding keeping power on all the time, it can be done by connecting ACC to the BAT spot. But while you could turn off the dash cam via it's power button, the dash cam will not enter parking mode since it cannot detect when the car is turned off (since ACC is not connected to ACC) Hope this helps, Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun

      Hi! The current load that a particular circuit can handle will depend on the circuit's wiring, if they circuit is sharing it's load capacity with another circuit and if it's feeding from another bus. Typically an installer can reference the car's service manual and wiring schematics to determine available load capacity. But yes my preference is to use an empty spot, you can see an example of that on my install video here ruclips.net/video/uZp95NbNlmM/видео.html and here is my other video where I cover ACC and BATT locations in more detail ruclips.net/video/K2iKXj82354/видео.html Cheers!

      Hi Gerardo! I usually don't recommend updating the firmware unless directed by tech support to do so or if you are willing to accept the the risks involved with updating it. If something goes wrong during the upgrade, you can potentially turn your dash cam into a brick (it has even happened to me LOL). Firmware updates for dash cams are not like the App updates we get on our phones (where we are constantly updating it). • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Ike! Ah good question, that would heavily will depend on the car's battery (age, health condition and state of charge) On top of that you also want to take in consideration any parasitic draw from other items on the vehicle that use power when the car is off. This is specially common on newer vehicles. For example I have an older Jeep that can sits for months a time with little to no battery draw, then I have a 2017 car that will almost completely drain my battery in a few weeks if the car is not used. And here is the battery tester I use ruclips.net/video/kCNrfa8RUKU/видео.html if you want to test your battery for capacity and health, it can also perform a parasitic draw test if needed. Cheers!

    Hello...I have a Azdome M550. Whats the best kit to use a power bank?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Jermaine! Ah yes some people do run their dash cams off a battery pack instead of hardwire kit (but remember a battery pack will not enable true park mode). However I prefer a normal cigarette lighter adapter or hardwire kit since here in California we experience really hot temperatures which I would not want to subject the Li-ion battery to, that and the potential for a run away event (fire) during charging or discharging inside the car. Here is an example of a internal dash cam battery and what the sun did to it ruclips.net/video/HW8jqbl_ayU/видео.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

    Hi, Is there any specific amp for the ACC and BAT fuse, I’ve found two spare fuses in my car fuse box with 5amp. Does that work for my dashcam? Its an AZDOME M550

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Ambili! The Amp Rating for the hardwire kit (installed upper portion of the fuse tap) is independent of the amperage of the car fuse that was originally installed (which now goes into the lower portion of the fuse tap). Here is my fuse tap install video that may help explain this better ruclips.net/video/K2iKXj82354/видео.html showing how I find ACC and BAT. Cheers!

      @@AlexAutoFun Hi. I have hardwire kit without upper fuse and my question is how to choose which fuse(AMP) should I install in the upper space?? (5, 10, 20 AMP) ??

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Rock! The Amp rating of the fuse for the hardwire kit is determined by the hardwire kit being used (some kits have higher Amp requirements and some have lower amp draw). Here is my other video ruclips.net/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/видео.html where I explain how hardwire kits work and the different features to look (including amperage) for. Cheers!

    Does the fuses have to be the same Amps?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Romeo! not necessarily, the Amp Rating for the hardwire kit (installed upper portion of the fuse tap) is independent of the amperage of the fuse originally installed in the lower portion of the fuse tap. (And to determine the actual amperage that a particular electrical bus can carry we can look at the electrical schematics of the vehicle to check the wire gauge, current loads and determine a total working load) Here is another video that may help explain this better ruclips.net/video/K2iKXj82354/видео.html showing how I find ACC and BAT. Cheers!

    Pls make a actual video of parking mode and how it works

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi Roanna! How parking mode works will vary depending on which dash cam you are using, the most common methods are: standard G-Sensor detection, buffered parking mode, Time Lapse, Continuous Recording, Low Bit Recording, motion detection, proximity detection etc. I am working a video explaining each mode, stay tuned. Hope this helps, Cheers!
