I appreciate your bravery to speak Hokkien, despite not being very fluent. Bravo. Hokkien is our intangible heritage. I hope that we can keep on passing it down from generation to generation.

OMG I AM FROM FUJIAN, CHINA, I CAN TOTALLY 100% UNDERSTAND YOU GUYS!!! THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO!!!
Haha YAY!
Super funny man!! 🤣🤣🤣
Reminds me of myself when I speak Hokkien 🤣🤣🤣
HAHA serious?
You guys should go try the new Cinnamon roll cafe in singapore, The food is quite expensive and long ques sometimes but the food there is very cute and shiok!
I'm so surprised that the accent you speak is pretty much similar to my hokkien. However, only few places that originally spoke and still speaking Minnan diact are similar to my accent. I'm from Wenzhou, China. Possibly hundreds years ago our ancestors left Fujian at a very close period?
Great video. Pls do more hokkien video. U guys can learn from yr parents. Try to speak to them onli in hokien when at home. Yr black tshirt guy friend hokien nt bad. Mabe u can feature him in yr next hokkien video
Singaporean Hokkien and Penang Hokkien are really different lol. Can understand everything, but just sounds so different. Hahahah
Haha ok at least you understand!
@@acwmq Penang one is more similar to Taiwanese Hokkien, comparing Singapore one.
Penang Hokkien is Zhangzhou accent, whereas the variety of Hokkien spoken in Singapore (and rest of southern Malaysia actually) is Quanzhou accent. Hokkien accent in Taiwan is also dependent on region, for example in Yilan they speak Zhangzhou accented Hokkien whereas in Haikou and Lukang they speak Quanzhou accented Hokkien. Generally whole of Taiwan uses mixed accent in media (that is closer to Amoy/Xiamen, but Zhangzhou leaning).
Easiest way to tell is to say the words 豬尾短短, while Zhangzhou accent speakers will say ti bue te te, Quanzhou accent speakers will say tir ber ter ter. 吃飯配滷蛋 in Zhangzhou accent: jiak pui pue loo nui, in Quanzhou accent: jiak png pher lor nng
1:51 Why does a Hokkien speaking Ben exude Ah Pek vibes all of a sudden? 🤣🤣 Lol no offense. The video is just so funny
Yall should do a closing after your intro, so it would be much better! Also, try Cantonese next!
Make more of these pls. Wa si huan na lang lai. Wa boek ok hokkien tansi tua youtube hokkien oowa video boh ce (hope i say it right). Great job & kamsia lu!!!
This episode is absolutely hilarious ;) but in a good way; glad your friends did a lot more localized hokkien than you both. Tired is pronounced as "kiam4" in hokkien ☺
I think it is tiam4, not kiam..
So hilarious! Bravo! It would be even funnier if you guys tried "kong cau hwa" like hokkien Ah Beng.
I asthma watching this episode. Haha. 👍🏻 Contents guys..Can do this with miss hippo more haha
HAHA omg ok!
Do you have more videos in Hokkien?

😂😂😂
Omg, I just stumbled upon your video, gua e-hiau kong hokkian ue, gua si huilipin lang. Lin ya gao kong hokkian ue, lin-e khiu ya sui! To shia tsong tsi-ge video!
The Minnan language/southern hokkian is facing a heritage crisis in both its local and Southeast Asian . Even in the local area of southern hokkien, there are many young people like the author who cannot speak fluent Hokkian.
Miss hippo very pretty without makeup also!! Kudos for doing this challenge. I'n trying to learn my dialect also but it's v hard 🤣
Omg when you described Randy's toilet incidents, it wasn't translated in English but unfortunately I understood. 😐 Calling your friends "chickens" (prostitutes) was funny. Overall, funny if you understand Hokkien. I can relate.
😂
Very funny video lol, also sleepy in hokkien is pronounced muk siep (unsure about the characters or the actual words but yes), the muk or mak im talking about is like how you pronounce eye.
Hilarious🤣. More pl😁
Ok!! 😘
I keep hearing Wah Nang (we) in most of the conversation. Btw, funny video and interesting
HAHAH
2:56 年轻lang in hokkien I know it to be 'Xiao lian' . Instead of sibeh, a classier way is "Jin" ,like Jin suka instead of sibeh suka
Thanks for sharing!!
it‘s sibeh funny😂😂i like u guys speak hokian so much
😅😅😅
hahhaahhah honestly it is a really good attempt! I can't even speak it despite having a hokkien ancestry.
Haha ok go learn and speak!!

Great attempt anyway guys, it is about the fun learning a new language and the wilingness to learn. Personally, i learnt Hokkien to be able to communicate with my elders especially my paternal and maternal grandmother so that we can understand each other better (:

玉 in hokkien can call it( geok) or call it as 手环 (qiu huan)
烂 it called (au)
嘴唇 is called (cui tun)
Shout is called ( hua) or (tiu) or also( jiang) but good try for the both of u :) jia you ben and randy!
Thanks for sharing! 🫶🏻
@@BenRanAway hahaha but honestly i like to watch ur channel and ur mum channel ur parents are cute too 😂😂
As i hokkien speaker, that was equal parts of funny and painful to watch. Haha
But appreciate you guys putting it out there. But can consider replacing sibeh with jin. More polite la. :)

😆😆😆
Ben its okay speaking hokkien is actually easy, i learnt and master it
HAHAHAHA THIS IS FCKING FUNNY PLS DO MORE
😂😂
AWWWW THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY TYYYY 🥰
Yay thank you for watching!
The Traitor look! Yeah, this reminds me of those China 'Anti-Japanese' Dramas, where the traitor usually dresses and behaves like a gentleman and speaks about loving China. But turns out to be the one who sells out the Rebels to the Japanese army.😂
I laughed sooo much bahahhahahaha🤣
Hahahaha
"Always" is "定定" (臺羅 Tâi-lô:tiānn-tiānn). "nn" at the end indicates the nasal sound. Initial t- in 臺羅 Tâi-lô sounds like "d" as in "deer".
我無定定講福建話。(Wá bô tiānn-tiānn kóng Hok-kiàn-uē. ) = I don't always speak Hokkien.
兩個可愛的BoyBoy😂😂😂😂
qiu qiu’s daughter so cute at the end🤣
Yes super adorable!
V funny and creative to hv this video. Haaa
Thank you!
Honestly i took pride in my hokkien unlike chinese where it's spoken more elegantly while hokkien is just hilarious to speak
I don’t write nor read but I have been speaking Hokien since 1958. I hope I can give you some content for your Vlog to raise the language of Hokien to international levels. This means the national language of Singapore, Taiwan and Fujian province should be Hokien and not mandarin. My name is Raymond or Lim Su Bok. From the Philippines
My chinese teachers use to speak this language when they talk normally. Like gwa be dim ki tsui. Gwa be to ki lo. To sia.
HAHAH FUNNY SIA
I laughed so hard. I speak Hokkien exactly in the same way too - broken 😂
😂😂😂
Although, I never learned hokkien , but I understand like 96% of it bc I know teochew and a bit of Taiwanese
plum hilarious
Pls do a ep on 24 hours w BQQ
I never say vulgarity ok WA MM ZAI
👀
Ben arh, don't use so much 'Sibeh' cos it isn't a polite phrase (literally meaning death of one's father, although we know u mean to convey 'very/extreme'), try substituting it with 'Jinjia'. Btw, some phrases used are actually Teochew mistook for Hokkien. Overall, nice attempt n good to know that u guys can at least understand Hokkien n converse in it. If u guys need tuition on Hokkien, 'Limpeh' can volunteer to teach u two 'Ginna' for free. LOL!
Don’t talk nonsense. Sibeh , not sipeh.
@@jimw8615 So u mean it stands for 'Dead Horse' instead of 'Dead Father'? *ahem* Please enlighten me.
wah Lao eh simi taiji hokkien wei, u guys know how to speak can already. tio mm tio???
I’m Cantonese living in America. I can understand 70% of the Hokkien but I know it is not fluent.
My parents are pure hokkien, I can speak a bit of it but can understand more
Your hokkien has a French vibe
