I was hoping for a full Alchemist progression to be finished first but this is certainly an interesting gameplay loop. I would like it if the alchemist has some unique reactions that use weaker pre hardmode flasks to empower a hardmode flask, would be interesting and keep a weapon relevant for a long time
Can we talk about how cool it would be to play orchid and thorium with lots of people each locked to a specific class? I mean it might be a bit... Perfectly balanced because of the number of buffs being provided constantly because of the 4 supporters actively using their abilities at the same time
I went and did a gauntlet only run, it's pretty fun and i'd highly suggest doing one for yourself if you're bored standards are very nice, remember to use them to regain your parries when you got the time

Well, as good as it seems, i wouldnt call it a "New class". Its just a warrior, with gimmics but without swords. Thats the thing with classes. You should not only introduce new mechanics - but also new flawour and feel to it. And this one just simply lacks it. Thats the exact oposite problem with a rogue, who has TOO MUCH of that flavour, and its kind of bad. Honestly, i think the class would benefit much more if developer chose one of this three ways: 1) Delete class, and instead just give all this weapons to warrior class, with exception of runes. It will diversify warrior and alow it to play full tank, whitch it should be, at the same time making weapons and playstyle valuaeble, as whey are now on the class and playstyle whey belong. 2) Change class theme from guardian to juggernaut, making it really excell on taking hits or blocking them, making all its armor bigger than armor of other classes, delete runes as a whole, and make warhammers be like other melee - alow them to be spammed. Also, make shield closer to player, so it would be harder and more interesting to actually block a hit, while having some hits that cannot be blocked cause of their size. 3) Stick with guardian, but make it be more of a tanky support, a paladin of sorts. Keep runes, but now most of them does buffs, instead of damage. Keep shields, hammers and standarts, but lose gauntlets. Blocking in good timing heals you or allies, dependig on the shield, but missing the timing makes you take increased damage. Standarts now placed on the ground instead of being caried by you, but have extended range. Something like this. Imho - any of this choices would be better, as whey all have both gameplay and flavour, while guardian as it is, depending from where you look at it, currently lacks in one of the two.

The point of having it beign its own class is so player cannot use vanilla class items (which are almost all extremely bland point and click items) to make up for the downtimes and rythm imposed by the custom class' gameplay. If you are taking this at face value, and not even consider it being a custom class despite having content spread over the whole game, and its own set of mechanics that no other vanilla item uses, you're missing the entire point of it

While meelee have: Spears, swords, axes, yo-yo, chainsweapons, tools(like chainsaw, or drill), some throwables, slow hitters, true meelee. And there is A LOT of weapons of each type already in the game. Just take one, create some custom mechanic and its basically ready. I can come up with a few right now on the spot. For example: )Mechanic - Squishy but hard hitting meelee with choice of two weapons, a mid-range yo-yos, and a close range wrenches, and acess to turrets whitch are sentries, whitch are only buffed by its class armor. You will have to chose if you want safe midrange style while focusing on dodging and letting yoyos and turrets to do hard work, or go in hard and risky, having both incredible damage, and an abitily to die in few seconds. )Death Knight - classic warrior with warrior weapons, but acess to unique magic runes, and his own mechanics. He stacks dark energy while deals damage, and can release it to either ressurect one of the few last enemies he killed or heal himself for some health, depending on the items he has. He will have Necro damage stat, whitch fully buffs his magic and ressurects, but will only give half of that value to the meelee damage. So he still will be forced to use meelee, as both summons and runes only do support damage, but he wont be as effective with it, as a warrior to compensate. )Gladiator - just as a mechanic he has less armor than an actual warrior, but unlike mechanic who can mitigate it by distance control, gladiator relies on enemy control. Hes main weapons are shortsword, dart and spear. Hes capable of the parrying as base, and equipped weapons dictate whitch type of parry it will be, basically giving each weapon a second action. With shortswords hes able to block atacks, just like normal parry. With darts he throws net, whitch doesnt do damage itself, but procs all your debuffs and stops enemy in place for a few seconds. With spear, hes he trades defensive utility for offensive, making a lunge at the enemy, dealing significantly more damage. Each type of parry recharges individually, and landing a succesfull one cuts the timer on others. Different weapons add new effects to parry, or have their own unique parry, for example some lance doesnt lunge forward, but instead you jump backwards and throw it for big damage. Each and every one of those i just came up with. Each of them are meelee, but with different new flavour, both in terms of theme and gameplay. And best of all - you cant even say something like that is impossible, cause despite classes are the thing i created in my mind, each of this mechanics independently exists either in base game, or in some really popular mod.
