Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power? Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man? Now it's time for me to tell you about Young Nastyman, archrival and nemesis of Wonderboy, with powers comparable to Wonderboy. What powers you ask? I dunno how 'bout the power of flight? I get this is Tenacious D and it supposed to be funny and all, but I've been listening to this song on repeat since last night. The musicality, the harmonies, the progressions in this song are wonderfully made. It's not an awfully complicated song, but it's just so easy to play along.
The quality if the song made it a staple of every MP3 player I've ever owned. This is the first I've seen the video and the quality of the cinematography honestly has me a little taken aback.

My roommate and I bought the CD immediately because of this song, starting my decades long love for The D.
❤
Pause 😂
High above the mucky-muck, castle made of clouds,
There sits Wonderboy, sitting oh so proudly.
Not much to say when you're high above the mucky-muck.
Yeah, yeah.
Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power?
Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man?
Now it's time for me to tell you about Young Nastyman,
archrival and nemesis of Wonderboy, with powers comparable to Wonderboy.
What powers you ask? I dunno how 'bout the power of flight?
That do anything for ya? That's levitation, holmes.
How 'bout the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away...
with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle.
How 'bout the power to move you?
History of Wonderboy and Young Nastyman,
Riggah-goo-goo, riggah-goo-goo.
A secret to be told, a gold chest to be bold,
And blasting forth with three-part harmony, yeow!
Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power?
Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man?
Well, Wonderboy and Young Nastyman joined forces;
they formed a band the likes of which have never been seen,
and they called themselves Tenacious D. That's right,
[sung]
Me! And KG!
[KG (spoken):] That's me.
[sung]
We're now Tenacious D!
Come fly with me, fly!
Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power?
Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man,
Oh!
[spoken]
Take my hand!
Young Nastyman, and we'll fly!
Bring out your broadsword.
There's the hydra.
Slice his throat!
And grab his scroat.
You take the high road,
I'll take the low.
There, the crevasse,
Fill it with your mighty juice.
Bless you
Wait it’s not slice it’s nuts??!??! This whole time lmao
Shout out to you rad fucks for playing out Thompson tonight. Been wishing for that for a decade
I wish Jack had pursued a music/singing career more seriously. He has such a great voice and natural talent.
But then this song wouldn't exist
exactly,he would be amazing if he was more serious but he's already legendary, none of the d's songs would exist if he did and they wouldnt be that unique, just another rockband.
THE D WILL NEVER DIE!!! until....ya know...it does
*****
They're 26 and 35 in rock years.
Sheogorath The mad one viagra can fix that
This is the greatest song in the world.
i wish jack and kyle would make a wonderboy musical movie, like their move tenacious d, i think a fantasy version would be friggin epic
Do it
Agree
Look up Post-Apocalypto
Dude... THIS!
That would be AWESOME!!!
I second this.
Video has a great classic 80s fantasy feel to it, while still being somewhat modern.
+Halfcentaur that's kyles guitar, 30 years ahead of its time
“How bout the power…to move you.”
Literally shaking rn
Stephen Wonderboy Thompson! One of the best ever!
This music video is better than the entire last season of Game of Thrones
As someone who has read and watched Beowulf, re-read all of the Lord of the Rings and seen the films many times, and also through watched all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones, I officually fact check this comment as *true.* 👍
Watching ice cream melt on a bus stop bench is better than the last season, which ranks in quality alongside an aggressive prostate exam by a doctor with a prosthetic sword hand. That doctor? Young Nasty Man.
@@MichaelTLane-cu1rj Accurate assessment, Mr. Lane.
Just let it go man!
I do feel like someone should make a tribute video of Jon Snow and Tormund to this song.
you would never expect someone like jables to hit such high notes like that. And KG did such an amazing guitar solo
what do you mean you wouldn't expect him to hit high notes? that's what he's best at
@@BreydanArchibald i mean an ordinary 60 year old man wouldnt usually hit high notes like that
They never told you, but this was the greatest song in the world.
I knew it from the moment I heard it two decades ago. The tribute was to Wonderboy all along
The drop D chord at 3:09 coinciding with the lyric 'D' is *** chef's kiss ***
"How about the power... to move you"
Jack has the best white man rock vocals. Super underrated.
I was glad to see them at ufc 296
so sad fight sucked
I forgot this masterpiece, i'm in tears, tears of pride ❤
I am going to tell my kids this was Game of Thrones.
Better to lie to your kids than letting those poor fuckers watch season 7 & 8
@@I-speak-U-shut-it .......still better than Thor: The Dark World 😂😂😂
SNYDER CUT for real homie
@@emokiller907 I'd let my kids watch Game of Thrones when they turn 16. But after season 6. Im gonna say 'the show ended right after that'. 🤣
@@Matthew-wl1ny Captain Marvel was the worst MCU not Thor 2
I get this is Tenacious D and it supposed to be funny and all, but I've been listening to this song on repeat since last night.
The musicality, the harmonies, the progressions in this song are wonderfully made. It's not an awfully complicated song, but it's just so easy to play along.
Stephen Wonderboy Thompson 👊
honestly a absolute wonder for all of mankind
Secretly, this was always the best song in the world. And the legend continues
This deserves more views than child youtubers fake pranking their parents and friends.
That content is doing more damage than Aids.
The vocals sound Fantastic. The whole group sounds great! GREAT TRACK!
This is easily one of Tenacious D's best songs, and one of the greatest of all time, it's almost perfect. 💋💜
agreed
The quality if the song made it a staple of every MP3 player I've ever owned. This is the first I've seen the video and the quality of the cinematography honestly has me a little taken aback.
Buck, man. I miss you come back to game consoles.
Right about now it's time for a BIGGITY BUCK HD REMAKE!
Also nobody knows how much I wish I could edit my original post to say "The quality OF the song"
Buck Bumble Oh yah well your controls were hard to use! one analog stick, but you still had a kick ass theme song!
BUCK TO THE BUCK TO THE BOOM TO THE BASS BUCK TO THE BOOM TO THE baaahhhhmble~
In class today, I had to make a super hero/ villain. For the superpower I put down, "How 'bout the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away...
with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle.
How 'bout the power to move you?"
Was fortunate enough to witness the AWESOMENESS of Tenacious D front row. This was the one song everyone wanted to hear that they didn't play.
i sang this to my ,a month old, son it keeps him from crying the whole night
Man, I genuinely feel sorry for people that have never experienced Tenacious D's music.
The most dope UFC walkout song. Perfectly made for Wonderboy
It's a shame he didn't get to walk out stephen on his last fight.
Legendary Stephen WONDERBOY Thompson !!!
This is a Grammy Worthy song . High above the “ Mucky Muck “ refers to staying away from society and the daily grind. Genius
What's the bit about slicing the hydra's scrote and filling the crevasse with mighty juice about?
@@LukeJLB it's about trying to reach certain fulfilment in life, as the hydra represent the endless suffering necessary for our character to grow.. and only juicy liquid, that of course represents blood, sweat, and ji__ I mean tears from our hard work could ever fill the void and emptiness in our mortal existence, giving us reason to move on and live a life worth living...
It's Genius, but, yes, I agree.
What happens if you don’t grind daily?
@@julianespino2942 means your juice ain't mighty enough.
My brother introduced me to this song when I was in highschool. I would laugh and then growing up I started to appreciate it. Well my brother ended up passing away in March in 20 it hurts listening to this song but it reminds me of him so much
Watched them perform live yesterday and was bummed when they didn't play this song! My only drawback of an otherwise amazing concert!
Keep on rocking guys you both are amazing. Love from New Zealand.
Jack Black should really do musicals on a regular basis, he is really a great charismatic singer. And the band is really amazing, I just got to know them (lucky me!)
They are seriously talented! This song reminds me sooooo much of songs from the 1980s. I truly believe if this came out back in let's say 1986 it would have been massive! This just good even though the lyrics are silly but damn good song!!
It's 2022 and Jack blacks voice still gives me goosebumps, absolutely amazing
For me this is the greatest and best song in the world that Tribute was written about.
I know this song is old, but I still can't believe two super talented musicians managed to make a parody song including a nod to Three Dog Night as well as "slash his throat/grab his scrot" sound so catchy. One of the only things that makes me actually laugh out loud. "That's levitation, homes..." omg
This was a retro style song. The kind of thing you would hear when David Bowie was with Mick Ronson and I love it . Allegedly when Tenacious D was formed and performing that Michael Jackson was so impressed with their loose but tight style that he said " No way would I go on stage after Tenacious D "
I like Micheal Jackson way more now. XD
Dang, Michael Jackson?
