As 2006 came to a close I had selected "The Anchor Holds" as a song of encouragement to post for those of you going through the storms of life. Please continue to enjoy as Ray Boltz sings "The Anchor Holds".

when i was 15 i came out. i tried to make it work on my own, i didnt need god i could do it myself, well no one could accept me, my family turned there back on me and i lost everyone i thought were my friends. i was 21when i decided to take my life. i asked god for the first time if he was there, if he was to send me a sign if he didnt want me to do this. at that time something told me to turn on my radio and listen. this song was on and saved my life cause i knew then i had more to live for.
This song was written by my friend, Lawrence Chewning, upon the premature birth and death of his little boy. My husband and I were at the hospital with him and his wife that night. they had struggled to have children and even though they had 3 healthy kids, this was a terrible blow. When he says he has dreams, even held them in his hands, he is talking about that experience. Thank God for is Faithfulness and being an anchor in storms.
The pastor (Lawrence Chewning) that married me and my wife, wrote this song for Ray. Before Ray became so famous, he used to come up to Massachusetts and do shows at small churches etc. I ran sound and lights for him many times. He was always a great guy. All we can do is pray for Ray. God still loves him as he loves us too.

Not too long after my dad died I sang this song in church it was very close to his death and I didnt know if I could do it without breaking down in front of everyone but the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me and said just keep remembering the name of the song so thats what I did and you know what the anchor held and it helped me thru that difficult time and its been 9 years since hes been gone and all I can say is the anchor is still holding and He always will. The first time I ever heard this song it wasn't being sung by Ray Boltz. It was being sung by a small church piano player who was battling cancer. That was over a decade ago. I couldn't tell you how many times I've sought it out and listened to it since that time. One thing I can tell you, every time I listen it brings back so many times in my own life I've been on my knees crying out to my God with tears, and He is faithful. It's not the singer it's the song. Thank you Jesus. The Anchor Holds.

Ray Bolts is anointed in his singing as well as his song writtings. There is no way a man could reach the depths of understanding of the love of God and sufferings of man without first hand knowledge. I know....I am where He is....and to touch the hem of Jesus's garment & feel his forgiveness is an awsome thing. He loves me...he loves Ray...and he loves YOU....no matter what you have done..its not what you have done...it is what Jesus has done...
I went and saw Ray in concert several years ago and it was awesome. I tell you the truth I don't know how people get though each day without the Lord. I praise Him every morning for a knew day and praise through the day for the life I have and praise Him at night when I lay my head down to go to sleep. he is my everything and without the gift of His Son could not have life nor peace with Him.
I cannot begin to fathom losing 2 children so close together. I lost a daughter who shortly after she was born passed, and another that was taken. This song for years now has meant so much to me and help me realize how personal God is and how faithful he is through our trust in him Pv 3:5-6

My dad sang this song at a funeral for my friends mom who had taken her own life. I have also sung it many times. The anchor does hold people. If you feel like your sinking reach out to him. Amen

This song is so beatiful I had it played at my brothers memorial July 23 my brother was a Captain with Pearl Harbor Pilots while piloting a ship from the harbor on July 13 2011 he instantly died from a massive heart attack this song was not a tradional for a memorial but my 56 year old brother was not a traditional person but I wonder how many nights he fell on his knees asking God to keep him safe and we know God never let go .
I had been bedridden with a very serious illness for many years when I first heard this song and it was so special. It spoke to me in such a deep way as I knew too that the anchor had held all those years for me. I am now able to walk again and am no longer bed bound but this song still is so special. Thank you Ray Boltz I'm sure you have been a blessing through this song to many.
Every time I listen to him sing It makes my day, then I pray that he will realize soon that the ANCHOR really holds.

I am just gonna say that God has placed gifts in vessels and this vessel has a true God given Gift! This song has ministered to SO many people through the ages that we may never even know about. I can truly say that God has used this song and several others performed by Ray Boltz to minister to a part of my heart that was hurting! Thank God for music and it's profound gift to usher in the presence of God! In spite of our circumstances God is still on the throne and his ear is still listening to the cries of his children! Amen and Amen! I am so glad that HIS anchor will hold from now to eternity...

This song was one of my mother's favorites, before her death almost 13 years ago, on October 13, 1999. i kept it repressed for many years, until, in 2008, at a talent show at school, i heard this song while a man drew a chalk portrait. it brought back everything i had repressed, and i am not ashamed to say, i cried like a child in front of two of my friends. this song still touches me.
An annointed singer. Some times those who are annointed don't even realize it themselves. But those who God is reaching out too...they know..Thank you Ray Boltz for being faithful to your calling.
There is a thorn in my flesh that i can't seem to overcome. It has battered and bruised me, torn and ravaged me. . But the Lord's Grace always restores me and his strength always uplifts me. But I know and believe that my lord and savior Jesus Christ will deliver me with his abounding Grace.

When Ray Boltzs did this on TBN I was going through devestating times!!! I laid on the couch crying and this song ministered to me all night long, along with all the other songs on his albums....God used him then and I pray and know he will find his way back...when he was in our area we went and saw his show and it was as annointed then as it was when I watched it on TBN. We all have demons we have to fight..some just dig in and in our strength we can not conquer them!!!

Judge not lest ye be judged, pray our brothers and sisters who are struggling in life, we need not condemn we need to be that good Samaritan helping our brothers and sisters in time of struggle. Reaching down with our hand stretched lifting them out of the ditch, instead of beating them down with their past that has been forgiven covered under the blood. God teaches that when He forgives our past sins he remembers them no more, as far as the east is from the west cast into the depths of the Ocean never to be remembered by him. I can't count the number of times I've heard these lyrics, yet my eyes still well with tears....
I have been playing this song over and over. It truly touches your heart and soul, so much that it makes you want to fall on your knees and worship the King of Glory. Lord God release this man from the evil grip of the enemy. Father, your mercy is far much greater than any sin can be. My heart goes out to this inspirational man that he is. I declare and decree this day that this man will be made free. Holy Spirit move upon him in his greatest need, which now. Amen!
It is an amazing song written by Lawrence Chewning thru the loss of his unborn son, when his wife miscarried. It was a very touching testimony. No one can sing it like Ray. His voice really carries the song and drives it home.
I remember when I first heard this song, My sister played it for me, she just gave her heart back to god, for many years she fought satin with drugs and abuse. when this song played she fall to her knees and lifted her little hands and pray she was a trouper. sometimes Gods greatest works are in the darkest parts of our lives and struggles there is none without sin that is why grace is so important I have known God since 96 though I have not always faithfully walked with him.Salvation through perseverance though we get knocked down Jesus is always there with open arms to welcome us back

Praise God for such a beautiful song. My old man wanted me and him sing this at our church with him on guitar and me on keyboard, but i always told him next week but that next week never came. Now that God called him home, i know that one day, we will be singing this finally together with God amidst the congregation when i finally go home.
I saw this video about 9 years ago and it changed my life.I renewed my faith and gave my addiction to alcohol to my HEAVENLY FATHER.He took it away from me and I have been sober ever since.THANK YOU JESUS for what you did for all of us sinners.PRAISE HIM every second of every day.
Amazing voice, amazing message, amazing song. The first I heard this song was at a funeral for a friend so dear it was like losing a mother. I have not cried at a funeral or death of friend since. For the anchor holds! I know that my family, and even my friends who I have watched die in the service, will walk with me again when I reach God's golden shore. Until that day comes Rest In Peace guys, I'll be seeing you. Praise be to God and Jesus my savior. You are my sword and shield in the dark.

This song isn't just a song. It's a message that holds true time and time again. People are in that situation where they panic and forget that jesus has things under control. That's why we are not holding on to jesus but, he is holding on to us.

This song is helping me through the most difficult time in my life thus far. My mother went to be with the Lord less than a week ago and this song reminds me to let God be my anchor.
This song has touched so many people every time I share it online. Ray still hasn't lost touch with his roots. He said: "I write for the common man. I started my concert ministry twelve years before I first recorded. I'd be in a nursing home one night, and prison the next, and a church youth group after that. I discovered just how great people's needs really are, in the church or out. I just wanted to minister to those needs, and that's still where my heart is."
The Holy Spirit led me to play this song after a period of facing storms of life especially after loosing a loved one. I shed tears and loved the Lord more, knowing he is the one by me in the midst of the storm.

Ray has done an amazing job with this song but every time i here Lawrence Chewning sings this song i get goose bumps. He wrote this song about the storms in his life and he sings it with such a great passion. this is by far my all time favorite song.
The 80's and 90's had such great contemporary songs. Ray is right up there. I wish he would make a new album. His voice gives me chills. Also allows me to be still and listen to that still small voice of God. He hath done great things. Love ya Ray. Keep on shining!

this song really inspires me and lifts me up. I've gone through some tough times and I will say that there's times when I feel he's not around me. When I got pregnant with my second son I ended having seizures when I was 6 months pregnant with him and I've kept having them ever since. My mom's the one who encouraged me to listen to this song whenever I'm in need of him and it lifts me up letting me realize the God is always there no matter what

My precious cousin passed away unexpectedly last week. Her son asked that this song be played at her home going celebration. The words are a great comfort.
One of my favorite songs. I've sung it several times in my church. It has so much more meaning for me now. We forget our fellow believers have lives where pain raises it's ugly head. I'm so thankful for Ray's transparency in the pain he must have endured for so many years. This song came into my spirit this morning and i had to find it. Such a blessing when u can turn to God for answers in ur situations, he will give u a song, a word from the bible, that's why he send his blessed holy spirit to comfort us. God is good he cares about us, all we got to do is trust him. So even though the storms are raging, the anchor holds in Jesus christ. Beautiful song. Keep looking to Jesus he will never let us down. My night wasnt at night. My night came in the middle of the day, twice when God proved to me he was there. He kept me from taking my life in 1995 and then just last year he was there with me when i found my boyfriend dead, he had taken his own life. I just wish he talked to me first.

i go threw life's storms daily & its songs like this one that gives me the strength to carry on,cause Christ is & has always been my anchor,my love for god & the great sacrifice he made sending his son to die so we could have life,that had to be painful,& god still loves us we owe him so much,& yet he ask for so little just to love him & live his commandments.
I've loved this song from the moment I saw this video on TBN when the album was released. Ray's personal life is of no consequence to me. I love Mr.Boltz for sharing this message with me then when I was at a low point in life&unsure what to do. This song reminded me then whatever life had in store for me,good or bad,GOD would forever hold&keep me. Now that storms have come again&as fear sets in I'm again reminded The Anchor Holds!

I haven't heard this song in years. It was one of my mom's favorite songs. My cousin sang it in the church that I use to go to. My mom, passed away on July 26, 1995, she had cancer. I remember, the last time, my cousin sang this song she stood up & clapped her hands for him. She was so proud of him. My cousin also sang this at her funeral. She asked for him to sing it for her funeral, before she died. It is such a wonderful & encouraging song.
This song is what I listen to each night before going to bed...it is a great comfort knowing that God's grace and love will be there waiting for me when I wake....

I had the pleasure of seeing Ray Boltz in concert 3 times. The first was a performance of his Concert of A Lifetime, and was the first time I'd heard this song. It was also the first time I had ever observed more than a dozen people raise their hands to God; wow, that was so empowering! Ray Boltz's music was one of the primary forces that brought me back to God after a very long, dry spell. Nothing can take away from the profound impact God has allowed his music to have--Thank you, Ray!
