SCORSESE MAKING NEW GANGSTER FILM | TARANTINO NEW MOVIE AXED

- We have some interesting news about upcoming movies - Quentin Tarantino's film The Movie Critic is now cancelled. He will not be making the film. Additionally, Martin Scorsese has renewed interest in making a Frank Sinatra biopic, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
I want Scorsese and Tarantino to make gangster movies.
Scorsese been there several times. Tarantino I guess RESEVOIR DOGS
@@fulaan1 They weren't Jehovah's Witnesses in ReservoirDogs. Those were not Bible salesman in Pulp Fiction, either. Nor your friendly neighbors in Jackie Brown.
@@fulaan1Pulp Fiction is basically a gangster movie... just not the traditional mafia gangsters
Scorcesse will have Robert Deniro play a tough twenty year old again. He doesn't like to be around young people? What was that? The guy hobbled around like an old man the whole movie! He didn't grow old. His face just stopped being shiny.
Tarantino is superior to Scorcesse because Scorcesse never writes. any director that writes too is automatically superior.
@@kingswing00I was gonna say, as well as Natural Born Killers, although he wasn't alone, Oliver Stone, but anything Quentin Tarantino touches turns to gold, so the two, they'd make an insane collaboration, and Cowboys were Gangsters as well, Django, and The Hateful 8, then Dusk til Dawn, so many underrated overlooked things
...hopefully he doesn't have an 85 year old Deniro kicking someone's ass
Death Proof being the bottom of that list is kinda impressive. Like it's not a masterpiece, but it's innocuously good.
It gets better every time.
Came here to say the exact same thing.
I thought Planet Terror was the better half of the Grindhouse double feature, and usually I like a Tarantino film more than Rodriguez, unless it's a project they're collaborating on, like From Dusk Till Dawn or Sin City.
My problem with Death Proof is that it was too bloated in the first half, spent a lot of time setting up the characters in the first group to kill them. I know that’s probably how those type of movies used to go but for modern times it’s too slow for a small pay off. It needed some tighter edits to bring it in.
ETh dialogue for Death Proof wasn't as good as his other films.. or maybe I'm missing something about how women communicate? His otherfinms have a sort of punchline feel to all of the dialogue bu the dialogue in Death proof wasn'tt as comedic.
Maybe that's intentional or he wasn't feeling eh words as much.
Least of his movies but still great.
Is Death Proof really seen as a misfire? I've always enjoyed it. It's not the greatest Tarantino one, but it's still fun.
Yeah, kinda. My least favorite of his was Jackie Brown, but Death Proof is a close second. I can remember a bit of dialogue from all of his movies except that one.
@@gbeach85 I always loved the revenge at the end with Stuntman Mike just crying lol. Jackie Brown is one that is good, but I've seen it the least.
@@stephyalysse I liked that part too. I’m a massive Kurt Russell fan though. And the slow mo scene of one of the accidents was cool. It just didn’t have the same crisp dialogue, characters, or writing that he normally has. Which, I get he was going for the Grind House thing. It’s just the story about the vapid, forgettable girl bosses didn’t do it for me. I didn’t care about any of them.
@@gbeach85 I don't think quatability = good. But there are some good lines. I've seen the movie multiple times and I think it's good
@gbeach85 I actually really like Jackie brown also. I think it's unfairly over looked
You're comparing Scorsese to QT on why one wants to quit at #10 and the other keeps making films into his old age and that's not a fair comparison ...
Scorsese is an ARTIST and a true filmmaker while Tarantino is a WRITER. As an artist, one cannot limit themselves to a certain number. QT can because he's no artist. He's a writer by heart who transcend the limits of the movie director and embodies the spirit of a writer.
Scorsese on the other hand, heralded as he is, tends to lean into the stories of others, often adapting novels and real life naratives into some if the best work in cinema of all time. Obviously there are striking differences in their respective creative approaches.
Найс просто украл слова Скорсезе
That's an interesting point. Come on, let's get into character.
I’ve always stood by the take Tarantino will go down as one, if not, the most overrated movie directors of all time. His movies can be really fun times but they will not age well beyond that. Guy has a nauseating amount of ego.
He isn't Sergio Leone no matter how hard he tries
I think Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Reservoir Dogs, and Jackie Brown are his best films (at least my favourites of his), but I agree he is quite egotistical and he thinks every movie he puts out is gold, and loves to hear hosts of podcasts sing praises of his recent pictures. I didn't have a strong response to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Hateful Eight, or Django Unchained, however in those movies there were scenes or sequences and performances that I thought were great. One podcaster said he thought OUATIH was the best film he's ever made, and if I remember right, Tarantino said that he thought so too, and said how it was a lovely thing of him to say. He often talks about how Pulp Fiction was flawed or downplays it, but I think it's his best and "Basterds" his second best. But since you mentioned his ego, I couldn't help but notice his ego coming out more in his recent films, like giving himself a role of an Australian character in Django, doing voiceover work in Hateful Eight and reading that part like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and the whole voiceover bit with Kurt Russell in "Hollywood" towards the end, had the sense of when Tarantino was writing it, he was thinking "oh this is great storytelling." I think it would be great if he finished with something along the lines of Pulp Fiction, I don't know what it would be, but something bold and in current time or more recent time, not something from a past era.
I think Tarantino should do the Sinatra story and modify it like he's done with Inglorious and Hollywood. For me, I think Tarantino's latest works are his best. Inglorious, Django, Hateful 8, and Hollywood exceptionally fine. And by Tarantino's own exclamation, "We Love Making Movies", should make him want to do more than 10.
Tarantino needs to make a prequel to Kill Bill.
Tarantino’s The Turner Diaries.
Deathproof is not his worst movie, it is pretty cool and more enjoyable than his more recent stuff, happy he is not doing the movie critic tho - that sounded like a pretty conventional movie
You’re so right about Tarantino, hell, Clint Eastwood said he’s not retiring until he’s 105, ….and he’s serious.
Quentin...if you watched this and read comments...PLEASE...make a modern interpretation of one of you favorite movies...so much that you used the soundtrack in two of your movies...White Lightning(1973) I want to see a modern take on Gator McClusky. Show a realistic love letter to the modern American South. It will be incredible and it will get love from everyone.
The Sinatra story is exciting and very surprising given that at the end of 2021 it was announced that Tina Sinatra was working with Bill Condon on a Netflix miniseries of Sinatra's life which I expected to be a total hagiography of the man. But now Marty seems to be starting up a biopic again? I think I will wait until more evidence comes out that this is really happening, but I do hope it is. No offense to Condon, but I would much rather see Scorsese's take on Sinatra's life.
Sound boring
No way Tarantino is going to make just one more film. No way! (Unless something tragic happens to him.) A person so creative, who has an open outlet for so many ideas flooding his mind, could never rest if he just stopped expressing those ideas. His psyche would be destroyed. As a psychologist, this is a professional opinion, and I'd bet anything his next film will be far from his last. Thank goodness!
He said he will do tv shows and documentaries, also write books but no more films
Bro u had me at HEAT
I remember reading a while ago its actually supposed to be a "prequel sequel". Covering events prior to the original movie. I cant wait
It will be both prequel and sequel to Heat, if you haven't read the book Heat 2 that Michael Mann put out two years ago, I highly recommend you read it, it's absolutely fascinating and covers the characters from Heat before 1995, and the characters in the aftermath of what happened in the original, especially Chris who got away, and indeed Vincent who still reflects on what happened, thinks of Neil.
You are absolutely right. Quentin's best films were in the 90s and to me the rest are just stuffing.
I disagree. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood is a masterpiece. It’s far better than say Jackie Brown or From Dusk to Dawn.
Tarantino is a coward he's scared of making bad film
QT hit his pinnacle years ago. His work from the 90s still has the same rewatch value decades later, while his recent stuff, halfway through, you start wondering how much longer is this going to go on for?
The Hateful Eight was average at best and the Hollywood movie was almost 3 hours for one of the worst payoffs imaginable that had nothing to do with the character arcs of its leads. His works now are not much more than high polished mediocrity.
It's his name from those early movies, plenty of his movies aren't really that good from the last twenty years
tarantino starting to look like bob hope?
And George Sanders.
Maybe it's not really about the 10th film and it's more about he wants to have a private life like a normal human being. I am one of the biggest fans of his. In fact I think I've watched hateful eight at least a thousand times. But he deserves to have a family life and a life devoid of crazy. I'm proud of him
Quentin needs to throw the 10 film thing out the window. Death Proof wasn't very good (other than the scene in the middle of the movie - that was pretty awesome) and he directed 1/4th of Four Rooms, which wasn't a great film either. His final film won't make or break him, but he denies himself potential classics by stopping at 10.
For some reason I think that he will eventually
Excellent analysis as always. What do I think? I think the only people who know are Scorcese and the Sinatra estate.
I would suggest a movie based on the Phil Leonetti book "Mafia Prince"
Earlier, Quentin declared Bastardos Inglorius to be his masterpiece. Now he says "Once upon a time..." is his favorite - I agree. He will change his mind about this just 10 films idea - God willing!
I love the little touches you add: "Scorsese's Jesus Pic... will be a passion project" 👌
Based on the thumbnail it sounds like somebody came to their senses.
i think the fear for Tarantino is that he will fall out of pop culture relevance in his mind and that knowledge is the basis of his entire style. If his references are too old for people to get his films will mean nothing. Now i agree, the 10 films is dumb and personally i think he needs to be working while he can. However i think The Critic was a horrible choice for a final film and it could have well made him seem jaded in his retirement
Wow sequel to Heat?? Sign me up boyo
The older I get, the more I'm impressed with Tarantino's later works. Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained are up there with Pulp Fiction as his best works in my eyes.
While I'm sure he has his reasons, I don't get the 10 movie limitation he set himself. Namely because it sounds like the sort of bravado you say in your youth, and you'd think as he aged and reflected on his career that he'd realise the lessons he learnt about storytelling and filmmaking that he could now apply. The only positive I can take from it is it means he's choosy with what he wants to achieve, and I think the quality of his latter work (Death Proof aside) reflects someone who is taking care to get it right.
I think death proof was great for what it's supposed to be
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED DEATH PROOF. top 3 to 5 for me from Q.T.
Tarantino should play Bruce Campbell as Evil Ash in Evil Dead 17.
Wtf happened to quentin's STAR TREK ?!

I REALLY don't like the idea of a Heat 2 movie.
The original is SO singularly amazing that it's impossible to think of a worthy sequel . Plus, anyone that has read the book ... it's a very good crime thriller but some of the plot is kinda lame (Chris and the tech chinese people in Panama) .
It's great how Chris got a haircut in Heat and managed to fool an entire SWAT team into believing he was someone else, despite looking exactly the same and staring up at his wife. One of the stupidest scenes in film history.
@@flapjackbickle645 Wait did that happen? I thought he got the haircut generally because he was on the run. When he shows up to his wife's place the police don't see him at all
@@xxczerxx It absolutely happened, go back and watch it. He turns up at the place where his wife is, she gives him a hand gesture to tell him to keep moving, he drives off and gets pulled over while the cop checks his ID. Then they let him go! 😂 Truly has to be seen to be disbelieved. I know Michael Mann's films aren't exactly strangers to silly plots (Tom Cruise as the world's worst hitman in Collateral), but this really takes the biscuit.
They should collaborate together and work on a film.
Their sensibilities are completely different. Scorsese aims for realism and grittiness, not to mention an interest in the existential antihero (or at least he has on occasion in the last 20 years). Tarantino builds everything under a pop culture tableaux and homage-heavy stories. Nothing wrong with that but QT is significantly different in every way from Scorsese.
The main problem with Martin Scorsese is that he simply doesn't make commercially successful films like Steven Spielberg, which is why his films don't make much money
Just say you're not a Tarantino fan or you think he's overrated. You can nitpick all you want but the guy is right. He doesn't want to be the old guy like Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola making s***** movies.
The films he made in the 90s are inferior to EVERYTHING he did from Inglorious Basterds onwards, you're totally wrong.
Once, inglorious and Django are masterpieces!!!
Death Proof was a POS. Once a upon a time in Hollywood was a POS. (Leonardo's superb performance almost saved it though)
Some of your takes about Quentin’s movies are wild 😂. Inglorious basterds and Django are behind pulp fiction, Jackie brown, and reservoir dogs???? Don’t get me wrong I love every single Quentin movie and they’re all masterpieces but that’s wild 😂. And he made death proof as more of a side project. It was always viewed as this limited type of thing.
It is an unforgivable insult to all of film when George Lucas is pictured with Spielberg, Coppola and Scorsese. Lucas' is suited to hang with Uwe Boll.
I'll die on this hill - Lucas sucks on so many, but not all levels. He should never be a part of a conversation concerning the greats.
THX-1138 and American Graffiti were Lucas's best directorial efforts.
@@kingswing00 ok I'll give him AG .... totally forgot about it, I'm only 48.
Once I learned about Sally, a lot of things made more sense
Retcon the Many saints of Newark and let’s give that a redo
Death Proof was not a misfire, it was just as good as any movie he's ever made, it just wasn't intentionally as convoluted as his other stuff. And Quentin's movies haven't declined in quality either, OUATIH was the most beautiful movie he ever made and delivered everything it set out to give
You're right - I mean about the part about DP being as good as any movie he's ever made.
Bunch of bad dialogue. Funny Russell though.
@@steveconn I think the bad dialogue might've been on purpose to go along with the grindhouse theme
Terrible film. He's even said it himself. It was like a bad episode of The View. Horrible.
Frank Sinatra Story please.
Including when one of lovers, as mentioned, Ava Gardner was asked ‘what are you doing with that five foot one jerk?’
She replied ‘he might be five foot one but it’s all fucking cock!’
Do you really want that?
@@Johnpinwheel perfect film for Scorsese to finish on . The story of the Mafia and Sinatra go hand in hand from Luciano to Vegas.
I swear I have heard this rumour before but I could be wrong of course…😂
Tarantino has been past his prime and making bad films since Kill Bill Vol. 1.
The Terran Tino is well-regarded in my galaxy.
how about Scorzergsie?
don't forget Scorsese almost entered the priesthood as a young man - and also made the Last Temptation of Christ, so delving into the life of Christ is hardly a surprise
QT was past it a long time ago. Looking back, many of his films are just ‘meh’. Watching PF now it utterly cringeworthy even thought plenty of people cuck for that movie. But it’s overly dated and badly made in parts. He should just retire now.
Heat sequel is sus
Nah man, QT’s last movie was his best.
The fall of Rome .
No disrespect to Mr. Scorsese but Killers of the Flower Moon wasn’t for me.
I thought u said Scorsese was going to make a gangster film not a jesus film... Ur titles are misleading... He should make a film about Roy demeo...that man had a crazy gangster life
Sounds like Tarantino likes to put the pressure on himself.
This dude doesn't know shit about American cinema. Calling death proof a misfire and kill bills are 2 movies. No bro kill bill is one movie n death proof is a cult classic
Kill Bill is one movie but Grindhouse is two movies? Be consistent!
Grindhouse = Planet Terror + Death Proof (+ fake trailers for films by Edgar Wright, Eli Roth and Rob Zombie)
Kill Bill was one film divided into two volumes as per that horrible studio trend of the 2000s
Like anyone is truly as interested in the life of Jesus compared to the Mafia, which is known facts, not biblical interpretations
Tenet is genious, Openheimer is ass imho
I thought he was done
Jennifer Lawrence looks nothing like Ava Gardner
how dare you
Death proof was a misfire? You can suck an egg.
Maybe QT can still do The Movie Critic as a limited TV series.
Great video!
Biopic is pronounced bio-pic, not bi-opic you're welcome
Reservoir Dogs is a mediocre film. Fight me.
It's Tarantino's only decent film.
It was a better movie in 1992.
@@PierreMontgomery I watched it in 93. Thought it was amateur hour back then.
I agree. I thought that "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" was better.
I like Death Proof lol
As for Scorsese it’s so many mob stories that haven’t been told.
Movies are movies, silly big things to eat popcorn to.
QT last great Movie was Inglourious Basterds.
I agree.
Who cares about tarantino!!!!
What about that other film maker, the Tarantino wanna-be Guy Ritchie?
Jennifer Lawrence would be miscast in my opinion. Are you kidding?. Not to be rude but Ava Gardner is much better looking.
Only Eva Green could do Ava any justice, and even she's not at Ava's level of beauty

Death Proof might be one of his best.
Death Proof is one of QT's best! bite your tongue.
Im not a fan of tarantino after the 90s and i dont like him very much as a person however its all part of the creative process. Sometimes you get an idea, think itll be good, then when you start getting things moving something inside says ya know what, this isnt going to work, and you scrap it. This applies to all art. Ive been there myself not with film but with other mediums
Death Proof wasn't a "misfire".. 😂🤫
Tarantino is good but he's overrated, his movies are really good but they don't have great writing, in terms of writing they're very simple and not that meaningful
Really? How is the age of innocence not meaningful ?
@rupertsmith5815 that's Scorsese not Tarantino
@@starwarsroo2448 sorry my bad lol I misread
My issue with him is that he "paid tribute" to grind house and Kung fu movies, which are basically low quality trash entertainment, and these films that he made are really not that great. It's like basing a steak recipe on a Big Mac. It's gonna be crappy in its main essence, even if it's surrounded by premium ingredients
YOU feel that not him or most other people, get off that pedestal and actually watch films to enjoy them not like some high end artsy bs. You sound like someone who doesn’t go into a movie to enjoy it, but critic it as if only the high and mighty can enjoy it.
Kill Bill and Deathproof were made as love letters to the grungy cinemas he grew up going to as a teenager/ young adult,
70s schlocky fun movies not taking themselves too serious. It isn’t about making a prime grade steak but something that people can enjoy everywhere, he doesn’t want people taking his work as art pieces only for the message. He wants people to have a good time at the cinema and maybe you should try that.
Kill bill 3
Tarantino is just high on his own farts. There's 0 chance he only makes ten films.
I don't have anything against Leonardo DiCaprio but why do they keep casting him as a hard looking manly man? He still has kind of a baby face and he doesn't fit every single role known to man.
scorsesse dident made a good movie since casino 1995
You obviously never seen Silence
You didn't think The Departed, The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, Silence, or The Irishman were good movies?

@@TheFalseDragon Fair enough, I respect your opinion. I don't agree, but to each their own.
If you are impressed by Tarantino’s pretentious later work and think Death Proof was a misfire, you’re pretty unsophisticated.
F*** Sinatra. How dull!
Death proof was crazy loved it. Except for really long dialog
Tarantino definitely peaked early. I think he came of age as a director at the perfect time. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, absolutely iconic of their era. The rest of his films, while still watchable since it's Tarantino, just weren't as good. Inglorious Basterds almost captured the same magic but not quite. Just my view.
That's a fair assessment. I would add Jackie Brown on to that list, but I agree Reservoir Dogs and Pull Fiction are very iconic and was great he made those pictures during that time of early to mid 90s, he gave an adrenaline shot to the film industry at that time.
@@Neil_McCauley_ Yes I love Jackie Brown, and it's also a top film. But is it quite as iconic or in the same league as PF and RDs? Not for me.
@@goodyeoman4534 Jackie Brown isn't as iconic as Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs for sure, but in regards to my top 4 QT films, I have it in there with the three you mentioned. De Niro, Sam Jackson, Robert Forster, Pam Grier, Keaton were all top notch. But in saying that so many of his films are filled with great performances, like Waltz in Basrerds, Jackson in pretty much every QT film, Travolta in Pulp. His first two are definitely the most iconic, but aside from his three films in the 90s, Basterds was the only one I had a strong response to.
@@Neil_McCauley_ I agree. JB is no.3 for me. IB is really all about that opening scene and maybe the tavern scene - the rest of it is meh.
@@goodyeoman4534 Excellent point, those two scenes in Basterds, were like a master class of acting, writing, editing, and filmmaking as a whole. The tension that was created in those two scenes, and the performances, in particular with Waltz in the first scene, and Fassbender in the second along with the German actor who played the main Nazi, was absolutely amazing. I might add the scene where Waltz confronts the girl at the restaurant, the ambiguity and tension in that scene, and in my opinion I thought it was a great way to end the movie, that last bit how QT did it, and once again the acting in that ending. Was happy that Keitel at least got a voice over bit towards the end, missed seeing him being used by QT since RD and PF.
Another gangster film? 😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴
And Scorsese was complaining about the MCU while this dude is making the 8th mob movie with interchangable actors that can cameo themselves from the last movies. Yikes.
At least he dwells in other genres, have you seen Silence? Hugo? MCU is trash, and i'm a big Marvel fan.
He’s only had 2 good movies
Death proof is 1 of my favorites
12 is a better number than 10
