Maybe they just did a reflow on it. I saw another youtuber in the past that also sent a Gigabyte board for RMA and when it came back it smelled like flux. Also that cooler makes it look like those boards that have an integrated CPU and factory provided cooler on them. Yours looks the same but bigger so i guess it makes it a little "sleeper"
For testing you might want to consider the Innovation Cooling graphite thermal pads once you run out of your cheap thermal paste. I have one that I've been using for three years at this point and it still works great for testing. So much better than using paste and having to clean up CPUs and cooler after each use.
Thats pretty standard turnaround and RMA condition. We had 2 5700 XT at Gigabyte when their RMA server got hacked in 2021/2022. They took 6 months to get our replacements.
Thats great it came back working, it would be nice if they gave details on the repair. I had to RMA a board to gigabyte, took about 4 weeks as well and they said they couldnt find an issue with the board, when I got it back it worked for about 3 weeks then the same thing again. When I called about it they said RMA it again and they will send a new board, I guess its policy if there is a second return for the same issue. Anyways they sent a brand new board and zero issues since.
@DLM tech garage i know the issue i was having , board stopped posting, would go away if i booted with only 1 stick of RAM, other than either original stick, and apparently if you shipped it lol
6:43 very server cooler looking cooler but I'm curious to see it on something lower power. If it has the appropriate mounting and the fan isn't a screamer that be cool to run on an i3 12100 or something like that which uses less power and is faster than the 3600 in gaming. 10:49 Really got us there for a second hahaha
Had a similar issue with b450 gigabyte aorus where it boots up sometimes and dosent. Rma the board they sent a sheet back bad bios, worked fine for a day then wouldnt boot again . Left the board alone for month and seams the problem is the socket as i found it will only boot if the cooler is a certain tension and seams to be running now.
this is pretty standard RMA process. most companies are 3-4 weeks unless u pay for an advanced RMA witch for some odd reason gigabyte don't offer that. Id take Gigabyte to Asus they like taking a board someone sent that was in perfect shape just not working and putting scratches on it and deny peoples warranty when u ask for a video of them unboxing the board there is jump cuts in the video. many complaints about this. some about video cards were the card showed up with a ding in the corner of the back plate that is purely cosmetic and would not affect the card what so ever and they deny the person claim over that. then they offer u an out of warranty repair that is as much as buying a new one would cost and say u will have no warranty on the replacement. plus with the way they acted after the issues with x670 boards and amd 7000s chips no one should support that company.
Good that it works, bad that it took so long. I don't quite get how the missing screw, the one you left in the board that is no longer there, proves that it's the same board though. Doesn't it suggest it might not be?
About to send in my 3080 waterforce oem waterblock was aluminum an naturally the community flipped lids. Anyways wonder if i need to put it back to its original as possible "packaging"? Vs sending it in with my much better bykski waterblocked card like that or as oem as possible? I could send the naked pcb board lol idk i might as well just assume to repackage it if i don't have to would be nice to know idk how the builders did it exactly!
@@DLMtechgarage perfect! Thanks for such a snappy response! i apprecite it! Literally going to RMA my GPU tomorrow! @@DLMtechgarage yeah here bud high they say I think I mean mentioned in the chat I had the same issue but I was running ryzen 5 3600 and 16 gigs of Corsair 3200 Ram
Glad to see you ended up with a satisfactory result. I recently used MSI for an RMA on an RTX 3050 and I have to say, it was bad enough to make me blacklist a company from products I will ever use again. I sent a feedback survey afterward and told them in the comments they could contact me if they want to see picture evidence and I also posted on reddit with no response, so I guess now I am just out an RTX 3050. No details were given on the repair via email or any other method other than a slip that said "repaired" in and on the box. When I put it in a tested working computer, the card instantly crashes just like it did when I sent it and I didn't have to run any kind of benchmark or game to make it happen. So other than charge me to ship the card to the repair center, I have no idea what was done to the card, or if it was even plugged in to look at it or just sent back to me. I sent the card with the OEM packaging and it got sent back in some generic packaging. Although I understand the instructions say not to send the product in the original packaging, I did not have another box to safely ship it in, but the packaging it was sent back with was an obvious downgrade both in the safety of the shipping of the card and quality of the box it was returned in. Not only that, but I sent it fully secured with bubble wrap around the entire card box and some plastic bags to hold it in place during shipping. The box it was sent back with was sent with one sheet of bubble wrap on one side of the outer box, leaving the GPU box completely open to impacts while it was handled by the shipping company. I don't even know why anyone bothered using any packaging at that point as it would just impact the box on the other side when it dropped. It was not secured in the outer box at all and when I picked it up before I even opened it, I had low hopes of it working because I heard a loud thud of the GPU dropping in the box. I really don't understand why anyone would not just use the packaging I sent if you were not able to provide sufficient packaging for the card to be shipped safely. At this point the GPU is pretty much garbage to me and a complete waste of my money, so I will not be using MSI again if this is the way a card is "repaired". This was a terrible RMA process that makes me never want to use MSI products again.
Nice to see that you at least get your motherboard fixed.
Sending in my 4070ti as it died 6 months after purchasing it. Hopefully this RMA process is smooth
How was it ?

Thanks, going to try those thermal pads, I do lots of testing and to be honest the pasting gets on my nerves.
I need to, I say I'm going to get them and forget everytime
I have 3 of those thermal takes PSU 500,550 650 never had issue

3 different RMA #'s.
