i have a gigabyte aorus 3080 ti, i have not used the card yet. I'm building the computer and waiting for parts. The gfx card is going to be watercooled. I guess once i do that, the warranty is no longer. I think im gonna test the card first before i take it apart once i get the part nessasary to get the build done. Been watching a lot of your videos, truly great stuff, keep it up. This is all too familiar sadly. Gigabyte's support and service in Europe has been appalling for a lot of years now. I got burned once with an HD7970, a lot of others have had bad experiences as well. I've avoided their products since. I've gotten better service even from Palit as far as GPUs are concerned.

Whereas i've never had anything Gigabyte fail on me to need an RMA but there's a first time for everything, so i wouldn't know if the RMAs sucked.. But its also true some people like to try things themselves with little to no experience/skill and still want their fixes for free!

It is horrible for the customer to receive a broken card after waiting two months. Somebody ought to call him and offer a nice gift certificate for the inconvenience and screw up.

hmmm, you replaced memory chips just like that , but why in FPGA development forums I was told that after 400mhz frequency you can't just solder integrated circuits on the board on your own, you have to do this stuff at specialized factory because of high frequencies? If I have been lied at the FPGA forums, does this means that one can make a motherboard or a GPU board at home??? really??? Just print the board, then insert the integrated circuits and components , solder them and hope it will turn on successfully?

I've just fixed a G!G@byt3 eagle 3090, the first half of the pci-e finger no longer exists, but it's ok, I've managed to save and rebuild the necessary pins.
The backplate is a joke, it's a flimsy metal piece thinner than the ones on the G1 cards, I will have to find something better to cool the VRAMs on the back...
*Where did you buy/download this memory diagnostics?* I think I will need this in the future, because these 3090s aren't reliable at all.
The Gigabyte RMA thing: I've had at least 6-7 Giga RTX cards with 8x date code d9wcw chips and all of them had some of the chip replaced by gigabyte at some point!!!
Some had 2-3-4 chips replaced with 9 date code chips, one had 5 chips with 3 different 9 date codes.
But two of them had new chips with 0 date code too! They never replace all the known faulty chips, just the worst ones and let the card run out of warranty time with 3-5 bad ram chips still on them.
BTW nice fix and good idea to warn against using a hot air to change a modern vram chip. I don't like these kind of problems because you never know when will the next chip fail and the customer might be angry when it happens again. But at least the diagnostics showed both chips at the same time :)

Likely that they either don't really care if the product is "okay" at first glance. Even more likely: They don't have the time. Card goes into testing, no issue found. So the card is fine.
Was working in RMA myself, but we used to have quite some time in the first years. Everything got pushed towards more quantity rather than quality after a while. No time anymore for time intensive search for sporadic errors. Sometimes it was even cheaper to hand out a new product than to check everything possible. Destroyed the fun at the job for me. I can’t say “worse”. The percentage they have of the market is quite large and it is normal to have more damaged cards compared to other manufacturers

Get yourself a mic and move it closer, your voice is very soft. Otherwise great video

I have a good microphone that stays above my head but I should probably move it closer

those gigabyte cards were garbage. ive sold a lot of GPU's, i avoided Gb for quality reasons. i have a 3090 reference design, and its fans are rarely on. unless i run a game or something that really uses the GPU, it wont even cool itself due to temps being so low. some other AIB's make decent cards, Gb isnt one of them.

The only card I've ever owned that died waaaaaaaaay before it's time was a Gigabyte. Have never and will never buy another one.
