I wish you the best of luck on your journey. Taking massage therapy as an online course, that is interesting. I have a question, probably the same question everyone would have. In tandem with your online courses, do you have what I used to call “victims“ to test your technique on? So that come across different issues in their muscular condition? Do you have someone that you can palpate each of the muscles that you’re learning about? I don’t know how I would’ve handled taking a massage therapy online course. My lab time was crucial to me and so fascinating. Welcome to the world of massage therapy, it’s a great place to be. Make sure that you get yourself a massage at least every one and 10 massages should be for you. Be prepared for everyone in your life to take the stance of, “Well that is awful that people expect you to give them free massages! You should tell them no, you do not have time to do that and you could he’s he money!” And then turn and say, “ my neck has really been hurting, can you even help something like that?” Always get paid first, then they can tip after. Don’t work your thumbs until they hurt, try to use other hand techniques. Well, that is my 5am advice!
I have never had a client with this issue. It’s a great tutorial. Myself, I ’m having a hip problem, and I can see how some of this would probably be helpful. But I am going to my physical therapist. I am going to leave it up to his expertise because I can’t really tell exactly what’s going wrong and how to strengthen the right muscle.
I’m not a practitioner, I am just a guy who is trying to improve his Sciatica and burning hip pain. But, I find that I do better when I understand what exactly is going on with my body and chronic pain issues. This information that you so freely give is so valuable. I appreciate you and I appreciate your depth of knowledge and explaining things in a way that even I can understand. Namaste
I am sorry to read that you have sciatic issues. Did you see a doctor? Because sometimes you have muscles that mimic sciatic pain but it’s not true sciatica. I recommend the 90/90 stretch. I do antagonists as well. Hipflexors . Psoas, Illiacus, TFL . Also, a reminder - I always start on the opposite side first of where the sciatica is . As the thoracolumbar fascia may facilitate QLs and Lats. Especially if the pelvis is functionally tilted. Informative as always ! Thank you !

hey, want to ask a question please. looks like it will be easire to do the pressing without oil. but how can i warm the muscle before if i choose not to use oil?. thank you so much, best videos i found so far online!
You can warm up the muscles by doing some skin rolling or myofascial release & stretches too. I normally start with doing dry work first (the techniques I describe previously) then I apply oil to do my effleurages, Petrissage etc. I didn’t use oil in this video because it would rub off the paint. Either with or without lubricants it works. Good question! Thank you for your feedback!

What a great video! Thank you! I have a question: what if the client has hardly any muscle tone in the gluteus area? Older client plus has a torn Achilles (many years ago, and the calf muscles are also very weak). Thanks for any good tips.
Yes the elderly loose a lot of muscle in the gluteal area if they don’t exercise much. You can suggest they sit on a comfortable cushion that doesn’t put pressure on the sciatic nerve. With a torn Achilles I don’t know if they can do exercises. Suggest they go see a physical therapist. You could do mild stretches & avoid any kind of massage gun because that could aggravate it since they don’t have muscle tone. Best of wishes for your client! You’re a good therapist doing research for them!!! 👏🏼👏🏼
@@MassageTherapeutics915 Thank you so much for a quick response! Sure,no massage gun for them and am gentle with the ankle, calf, try to help avoid further muscle loss. Even looked for gentle strengthening home exercises for the bottoms with regard to the injured ankle. Yes, I constantly search and search, I just love the great tips and ideas shared on internet by therapists, PT-s as well, such great inspiration and motivation for me! Thank You for your invaluable work here! And Season's Greetings to You!
I’m so glad you do!!! Yes therapeutic is a big different than Swedish but it gets the job done when they’re in pain! Few of us do that so I’m so happy to know you do!!! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
I had muscle sciatica for a year now i did all sort of treatment even did 2 cortisone shot. But i still suffer from it. I did deep tissue massage but no help. What should i do? The doctors told me that its my muscles that hitting the nerves. Not the bone that hitting the nerves.
It sounds like it’s the piriformis muscle that is pressing on the nerve. It’s actually more treatable than if it was coming from the lumbars. Have you had PT? That usually helps. Do you sit on a cushion to minimize the pressure on that muscle? You need to strengthen your 6 deep hip rotators! The 90/90 stretch helped me a lot. Since I don’t have your medical history it’s difficult to make suggestions. Don’t give up. Ask your dr. How else it can get better.
@MassageTherapeutics915 Hey thanks for reaching out. I did all sort of stretching and I even go to swim but no help at all! I did over 3 to 5 sessions of deep tissue massage and it was no help at all too. After 3 days the pain get back. Even when I did the cortisone shot it was the same result. Infact it did not help at all. And before I suffer from this. I had my lower back dislocated for 6 months until I found out and I got it fixed right away and that's where it all had started and its been a year man 💔 like idk how to express myself through a tex but am losing it. My legs are messed up real bad. I lost all my gains on it. I can't even work out anymore. I did not go to the gym for a all year! I only can do some little workout on the upper body and that's it! The lower I just do screching and swimming. What are u advised me to do? Should I go for more nerve massage or what else? Cuz I try it all. Aqualipuncher and so on...
@MassageTherapeutics915 I get the pain on my lower back mostly on the right side I don't get it from the hip itself. It more comes from the lower back (right side) and then it goes down the hip and the hamstring.
@@MrSomeone123I have SI joint issues. I’m dealing with the same when it comes to not doing much weight on it. But I’ve been doing physical therapy and strengthening exercises of the hip and periformis muscle. It significantly helps. I had gotten a very bad lower lumbar strain. I’m a loader at ups lifting very heavy packages and irregs (above 70 pound packages) by myself. But getting this strain caused me to have SI joint issues. Which I’ve never had. Massages alone don’t fix the issue. Although is helps you need to strengthen those muscles weakened in your core, Periformis, glutes, knees and hips.
Trigger points are part of my neuromuscular treatment for sciatic nerve. I just released a video on the Gluteus Maximus and I address trigger points. You’re correct 👍🏼

Hello Mrs. Maria. I have had a herniated disc in I4 - l5 for 3 months now, this video will help with the pain I have. Greetings from Greece
I’m so sorry to hear you have herniated disk. It would help you strengthen your core muscles! Do you know how you herniated the disk? Injury, repetitive motion? You can live a healthy life even with herniated disk! But correct exercise is the key. I hope you can see a physical therapist! Best of wishes for you

hey, want to ask a question please. looks like it will be easire to do the pressing without oil. but how can i warm the muscle before if i choose not to use oil?. thank you so much, best videos i found so far online!

Sweet Maria with exceptional teaching skill, I have fallen in love with you for your impeccable knowledge of anatomy/physiology and experience. Please do a video of how to help my sister. She has been limping since she gave birth to her second son, the numbness she used to feel has gone away but she still has some issues with movement. What techniques would you suggest.
I’m sorry to hear your sister has had issues since giving birth! Sounds like a nerve was involved since it used to go numb. Did she have an epidural? Is she in pain? I need more information however what you describe sounds like a nerve. They do heal yet can take some time! What does the doctor say?
@@MassageTherapeutics915 Thanks dear Maria for your prompt response. Yes I think it a nerve. The doctor kept giving her supplements of b-complex , folate and magnesium. She sometimes have shocking pain. I try to support her with nerve releasing exercises. The leg used to wobble alot but is better now but she still limps and sometimes have pain
Thanks, it's kind of comprehensive explanation, it made me understand more clearly 👍

Are we to do all these practices in just one session?
This is neuromuscular modality. So you specifically work the problem area only. This is not for a full body Swedish massage.
