Johnson and Rivera would be the bomb.
In Vegas
McCarthy and Rivera
I would be super happy about that
@@MrDuds1984 No. McCarthy is trash
Screw Rivera, has-been.
I really like this, Ben and Ron. It makes so much sense. Thank you guys for saying it.
Wilbon just shows you how important it is for someone to fill the gap in generations. I hope people in the sports media are taking notes
This is a very good compelling argument for Rivera. I never looked at it that way and … yea I would be onboard
Everytime they have Wilbon on, they talk over each other and don't allow each other to finish each other's opinion.
YES! Makes it a tough listen.
Yes, I am listening for the 1st time & I saw your comment and I've made it 6:21 before I need to stop & close this video. You talk, then I talk, you talk then I talk. Not over each other FFS
I’m sold!
That’s a good idea of Johnson and Rivera. But the issue with the Bears of the last 20 years is talent and coaching at the same time.
Ron has already stated he’s willing to take a DC somewhere.
When did he say this?
@ some podcast had an interview recently (i think he even said “high school” football or college) ..i’m old now i could have dreamed it but i think you can find it under his name in youtube .. unless it’s AI, came right out of his mouth.
also a youtube of him firing on Carolina D at half time .. great” leader of men” moment. Worth checking out.
Your hope is that Johnson is the guy who is both the stabilizer and the guy who will launch you into relevance. McCarthy would be a stabilizer, but not necessarily the guy who will get you all the way, even though he did it once.
I'm fine with Ben Johnson, McCarthy or Todd Monken.
Meh the bears haven't had s good coach since Lovie Smith. All 3 u named fit a image. I think we need to dig deeper
Tommy one of my favorite receivers if the ball was any where around him he caught it even when he knew he was getting hit hard
Sadly, in this country, seniors don't receive the respect they deserve.
Huh
That makes no sense
@@bg147 who needs respect when you've already squandered the wealth of future generations and continue to hold on to control of a government and society who's institutions are almost universally failing, all so you could live more comfortably?
You have to get Ben Johnson, and the best defense coordinator in the league
Ideally, I'd like Wilbon's combination too [I'm actually cool with a handful of the names I've heard]. However, I thought the Head Coach is the one who appoints a Defensive Coordinator because their visions have to match... If Ron Rivera and Ben Johnson know each other, that would be a great combination.
Absolutely my idea with Rivera. Remember.. McVay at age 30!! started as HC with Wade Phillips DC, a seasoned vet coach and it worked as a training wheels thing. Rivera is smart, super charged Lovies Cover2 defense that went to the Super Bowl and then took his own team to the Super Bowl.
How is NOBODY taking about Todd Monken seriously??? The man knows how to adapt his playbook to ANY quarterback!!
agree
Todd M. from the Ravens
I lived in Oxnard Ca and worked at River ridge golf course where cowboys did their preseason workouts. I got every day to watch workouts for 3 years . Lucky enough to play golf with Prescott . Every year with Mc Carthy, Prescott got better.
Prescott get hurts and McCarthy available. No brainer . Get McCarthy. At least Caleb will be coached by a WINNER….. that’s been proven.
I’d love to see 46 d one more time …..or try the DC from Vikings who plays aggressive aka Bear defense.
Give that combo a run . Ignore Bears GM, Warren and McCaskey.
At least we’ll play Bears football.
But McCarthy worked with Farve, jolly Rodger and Prescott . …. I personally saw him work with Prescott….. Prescott got better every year . Been Bear blood since 1960….. had pleasure of going to school with Pat McCaskey. Everyone take an aspirin. The McCaskey’s bleed blood. These youngsters need some guidance . Bears will be fine .
Forget new stadium until Bears play in 4 playoffs again and win a few playoff games .
Ol Pat McCaskey will take challenge. He’s a winner .
Ben Johnson HC, Dennis Allen DC, Hank Fraley OL coach & run game coordinator
I don’t think you can even count John Fox as having hired a “coach”. That guy was an absolute BUM and bad mouths the Bears to this day; screw him
He brought just about 0 value to the team. Arrogant, stubborn, and dumb ...
If McCarthy is an option, we might as well wait and see if Tomlin gets canned.
Oh boy give me Rivera, Johnson
Can you imagine how great that would be? Not gonna happen in Chicago
Johnson, Kingberry, and Rovers would be.... 💪💪💪
bring in mccarthy as head coach, ron rivera (85 bears legend) as defensive coordinator and you'll have NFL experience in spades. maybe josh mccown (former bears player) as offensive coordinator (interviewing for HC jobs now). was mccown the reason behind the amazing rise of sam darnold? the bears need to hire an experienced all-star staff instead of taking chances on head coaches with no experience. mccarthy won a super bowl, rivera took the panthers to one. mccown coached darnold this season and apparently coached drake maye in high school (and just see where maye is at right now). not only that, who knows? but maybe mccown could be the heir apparent to mccarthy.
The argument for Ben Carson over “someone with HC experience” can be made in one word: Ditka. He worked out alright and proves it can be done--it matters more that the candidate has a good plan and sticks to it versus the experience aspect, IMO.
Ben Carson is a heart surgeon. Lol
Ben and Chico in and I'll forgive all their sins
BJ and Ron Rivera
Chico is Rivera
Bruh! I think as Bears fans, just the hiring of those two would send us into an early Super Bowl celebration 😂😂😂
Wilbon sounded so stupid talking about Monken
Lmao I know. Henry only had 325 carries 2k yards and 16 tds...
This narrative about hiring coordinators needs to stop. The Bears have never hired a Ben Johnson. They always hire people that nobody else would hire. Matt Nagy, Eberflus, Trestman, and whoever else you wanna name. None of then were highly regarded.
The same Wilbon who said fo be patient with Eberflus 😂😂
If these inexperienced coordinators who have aspirations of being head coaches went to colleges and became head coaches there first, they could have a body of work as HCs instead of all this speculation about whether or not they can fill the role well. But no one wants to do that. They want instant gratification without a proven track record and end up setting franchises back by years and years because they weren't ready for the job.
So Ben Johnson no college or pro head coaching experience commanding how much for salary
You can get Pete Carroll Mike McCarthy an Chico an all three where head coaches a Super Bowl and coached at USC for less or the same money
Ben Johnson, should be the 1st choice as Head coach. McCarthy, Kingsbury 3rd.
I would take Mike or Ben.
Easy. Ben Johnson.
An adult in the room... A babysitter for the babysitter to the team that needs a babysitter with great clock management....
If its between those two then the Bears will fuck it up and not hire McCarthy trying to wait on Ben Johnson, then Johnson will turn around and get hired by the Raiders! And McCarthy will get hired by the Saints.
Yep. That's what will happen. I call that too.
Bears don’t need an old school coach. Need new young blood.
Can we get McCarthy and Riveria or Flores
Johnson aint coming to the bears, hes gonna go be a raider
Then Ben will fail. Why would he want to run a team with no QB?
@scoreyj13 why would he want to run a team with the most dysfunctional ownership? It's easier to change out a QB than ownership
@@RedHoodFH Are you calling Raiders ownership competent? A team that is right now paying 3 ex head coaches because they cannot get anything right? I mean seriously? Oh and why trust an owner that fired a HC that had a bad roster after one season?
@@scoreyj13 and somehow they're still more competent than bears ownership. We can't even fire a coach the right way
@@RedHoodFH Davis is at least as bad. I mean he isn't Woody Johnson bad but not any better than Virginia.
I like Wilbon but at some point they need to cut him loose and stop bringing him on the show.
Yeah he’s awful
Johnson Vegas bond people
Have we ever hired the number 1 coordinator on the market? I’m too young to remember but Tresmen was not the number 1. Nagy could have been argued as top candidate but never called plays but did get the bears to the playoffs twice. Fox retread and Flus def not top candidate that offseason.
Lovie Smith was a hot name coordinator when the bears hired him . Defensive coordinator - but he was considered hot coordinator
Mans man pete caroll not 30y theorist
Why would the Bears pass on a guy with the success of McCarthy get out of town? They have to wait on a guy who does fancy stumblebum plays? McCarthy has 11 seasons of 10 wins and 12 wins 6x!!!! Get your heads out your asses say thank you Jerry Jones and hire him!!!!
@ Andy Reid never won a Super Bowl after 15 years in Philly and was able to find success in KC with a young QB. Bet you take Andy Reid right now if offered.
The issue is we have to play it safe because this could hurt Caleb if we get this wrong. He’s experienced so many changes in his first year.
All the commentators and fans who have said Caleb should have been drafted before Jaydon D can stop that nonsense now. Caleb is not even close. Stop wasting our time with Caleb
We all know the Bears doesn't like too hire former players.
Out of the successful OCs Ben Johnson has done it for the least amount of time with the least roster variation. He's pretty low on my list.
Coach Wannstedt just stated he thinks Johnson goes to the Raiders and Bears get McCarthy, then Glenn to the Jets and Brady to the Saints.
So, now we're calling what Rivera did to Cam Newton's career "development"? Give me Ben Johnson and let him pick his own staff or just hire Rivera if you want an old sock puppet.
To discard a coach because they didn’t hand the ball off is just shortsighted and bitter talk
David Shaw
Rivera was mediocre coach at best with bears and panthers, and he's terribly over the hill. He failed miserably in prior spots. His Cover 2 base defense is outdated and exploited nowadays. Awful.
And Brian Urlacher isn't walking in the door to make that defense workable.
Bears 🐻 are a joke
If Johnson signs with Vegas the Bears will be settling again. Another 3 and out retread coach already let go by other teams.
Wilbon, what on earth are you talking about dude. Henry has 325 carries, almost 2k yards rushing and 16TDs. Jesus Christ Mike... Wtf 😂
Green bays vomit,no thank you
Was Dennis Rodman vomit a Piston
@Blackrain7920 talking about coaches, not players
@Derrymcg sane meaning u goofy
Better not be McCarthy. No former green bay head coaches ever.
WHAT ABOUT CARROLL! HE IS #1 THEN KINGSBURY #2 JOHNSON #3 MCCARTHY #4
Todd Monken or Pete Carrol if not my first choice of BJ and Chico
Yall say anything
That’s fine, but as soon as the Time Machine gets us back to 2012, can I make some sports bets?
Maybe he can bring Waldron back. I mean he did hire him in Seattle afterall.
Just no
Pete Carroll
I find it hilarious Bears fans still think they have a chance at Ben Johnson
Why wouldn’t they? Best young qb out of all the teams with cap space and good players
@ bad ownership and front office. Johnson was in Miami and Detroit before Sheila took over. I guarantee he has no interest in working with the Bears front office
He would go against
Mahomes
Herbert
Nix
No QB. Not in position to grab one @@Kravis63
@@Kravis63 true -- I would go after Kliff Kingsbury ahead of Ben Johnson anyway . I have said it for any one who would listen - Ben Johnson is really not ready to be a head coach - he is good at what he has done but he outsmarts himself often .
