I came into this show already knowing that Luz and Amity were going to become girlfriends. So I was surprised when I found out that Amity was a bully who didn’t like Luz at the start of the show. The slow build of her development and her relationship with Luz was so rewarding to watch. You can see her slightly change in each episode that she’s in. Her character journey has been amazing.
Later on that season in the grudgby episode, she was telling Luz about how she was the captain of the team and her face got red as a tomato when she turned and Luz’s face was right there. Love it.
When I first saw Owl House clips I remember reading abt everyone shipping Lumity. Then I watched it and was so confused like "How is this horrible person going to end up w sweet Luz?" I'm sooo glad for Amity's character development lol

Yeah I like how much Amity has grown, although I'm still bothered by the hypocrisy when she called Luz a bully who humiliates her, and blames her for her misfortunes, even though she constantly picked on Willow for years, tried to get Luz dissected, nearly beaten her up in the witches duel, was embarrassed by Lilith at the covention and accused Luz of embarrassing her. It was mostly her own behavior that got her into trouble. In my opinion Luz barely did anything to her and was trying to stand up to Amity, even if she didn't think things through and ended kind of bad. Amity didn't really take the time to get to know Luz back then and wouldn't even listen to her.

Is worth mentioning, and this is not the first time the team has gone with this plot line. Amity is under incredible pressure from her parents (specifically) het mother, to perform. A lot of Luz's earlier escapades involving Amity often left Amity being in the worse for it. It is easy to target that any bully is responsible for their own actions, and that the "mentally or physically abused child who became a bully due to that abuse is.. with much regret, very rarely the case. But Amity, in this case, was being subjected to a great deal of abuse from a person who quite honestly didn't care if thousands of people were harmed or killed as long as it served to benefit her personally. It was more interesting honestly to see the character directly rebuke her mother's influence, which is.... incredibly, incredibly difficult for emotionally abused children to do. Jareth: Stop, look at what I'm offering you. Your dreams. Sarah: For my will is as strong as yours, my kingdom as great... Jareth: I ask for so little. Just fear me. Love me. Do as I ask, and I shall be your slave. Sarah: You have no power over me! As a child I watched Labyrinth and more than once thought "Sarah, he's royalty. He's an ass but so are all men. He's making a good offer". As years have passed I see now just how toxic Jareth's "proposal" is, and how wrong it is to see love as something transactional, an equation of costs vs benefits. Amity is compliant to her mother's wishes because she thinks she has to be. Until she realizes just how little control her mother actually has over her, and dismisses it without regret to pursue both what she wants, and to be a petter person. That is kinda a big thing.

I almost forgot what a "Bitch Witch" Amity used to be. Comparing who she is NOW, to who she was THEN, it's like they are two different characters. (But now that Amity is reformed, Boscha has to fill the "Bwitch" role in the series. Which is much better suited for her, and her Princess Azula haircut.)
Her character development was definitely rushed. Though it's confirmed it wasn't intended, considering that the creators were given short time, they had to work with what they were given. If the show was extended longer with more seasons it would drastically improve everyone's character arc and the story as a whole
I don’t think Amity was being a bully in the library she just didn’t like Luz. Also we she denied being Willow’s friend it wasn’t mean also how is “ oh hi Luz and co.” Mean that’s one of her nicest moments in the video.

I almost forgot what a "Bitch Witch" Amity used to be.
Comparing who she is NOW, to who she was THEN, it's like they are two different characters.
(But now that Amity is reformed, Boscha has to fill the "Bwitch" role in the series.
Which is much better suited for her, and her Princess Azula haircut.)

Her character development was definitely rushed. Though it's confirmed it wasn't intended, considering that the creators were given short time, they had to work with what they were given. If the show was extended longer with more seasons it would drastically improve everyone's character arc and the story as a whole

I think that's up for debate, Luz was trying to be nice and helpful and Amity took it as an attempt to annoy her, she didn't even listen to anything Luz said.
