- Switching over to Paramount's Cinemacon presentation, and they had some big reveals up their sleeves! And today we're coming back to the world Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in a whole new lens - as they've announce an r-rated, live action, gritty tale based off of the wildly new and popular TMNT: The Last Ronin comic series! Yes, what was once emblems of your childhood, is now getting a far more adult, and mature tale, as only one turtle lives and vos gorey vengance on those that wronged him. The Last Ronin is gritty & cold, almost like The Witcher 3. I hope they don’t fumble the seriousness
This, this is the type of reshreshing installment of a franchise that we all deserve!
The comics the ninja turtles originate from are actually dark and gritty. I would describe the cartoons as a lighter version of that (and I mean way lighter)
The 2003 cartoon is probably the most accurate adaptation
This could be either really good or really bad. I’m cautiously optimistic about it
The Last Ronin is Mikey by the way, in the comics he is actually the last Turtle alive as his Brothers were killed by Shredder's Grandson and basically becomes this vengenful badass with a Grey Bandana as well as Leo's swords
I havent read it but does he still act like mikey personality wise? I think its pretty ironic the most gritty tmnt storyline was given to mikey ngl😂
I haven't read it, but I really like the idea of the silly guy going ape-crap.

I'm kinda hyped for this. I always thought that tmnt should have a more mature adaptation. Hopefully the story is done justice while still adding some originality to it.
One of the few films ive imagined in my Head but thought we would never get.
If it's an mature animation i respect it, if it's not then screw Hollywood.

This is not like that Spider-Man anime. This is a different movie already, as Seth Rogen’s already greenlit a sequel to his Ninja Turtles movie last spring.
@@willbrgamer5137 Dude, with all due respect, have you not seen Invincible series which is literally Adult Animation. Also, does it really matter if it’s animated or not? The thing we should worry about is how they execute it. So overall, what really matters if it’s going to be good or bad.

Yeah, but i want animated movies, and movies that are not always about super heroes and multiversal yadayada, something like the classic pixar movies, a movie that has a deep story, but doesn't need to hold back it's own complexity for the sake of children, not that i don't invincible, but it's not pixar level of narrative, i want something more like Arcane but in the cinema(not that i expect that from ninja turtles, but still, it's important that mature animatiom go to the theather in order to change this Hollywood's mindset that animation is just for children).
I was soooo excited for this movie until I found out it's going to be live-action...would've been great to see this as an animated film, especially since it's from the US who seems to believe that the only adult-oriented animation worth making is brightly-colored raunchfest juvenile comedy where the characters swear like sailors a la South Park, Sausage Party, or Hazbin Hotel.
So, are you disappointed that it isn’t animated? And now you’re not going to watch it simply because it’s live action.
@@LightningAdrian Yes, I'm a tad disappointed that it's not entirely animated...however, I would still want to see it if a company like the Jim Henson company is brought in to make kickass practical effects for it, which would also be massively refreshing to see in a sea of "live-action" movies hyper-dominated by CGI effects.

Do you think The Last Ronin Movie will be a Sequel to the Original Live-Action TMNT Movie Trilogy and let's hope that they will Practical Effects for the Turtle whose name I will not say or at the very least they'll will get people who actually know how to Animate Monsters we don't want to end up with another TMNT 2014🐢
The problem is that now we all know who the Last Ronin is, we know what happens at the end. It was his SLED dammit! The last turtle alive was HIS SLED, that's why it hit so hard, because it was HIS SLED. And we also know what happened to HIS SLED at the end. They are really driving The Last Ronin into the ground. It was good, but it wasn't THAT good.
Everybody who goes to see The Last Ronin will either already know about HIS SLED, which entirely erases the twist, or they will be all "I thought TMNT was for kids!" Or maybe they just won't get it because they won't understand about why HIS SLED shouldn't have to go through all that. Although I am wondering if they will include "The Lost Years" in the movie because IMO that was even more tragically depressing than the actual end of The Last Ronin. *Bursts into tears*
Imagine how wild it would be if this version of this story was a sequel to the 90's live action TMNT movies. Not saying that would be good, or anything about this movie's potential quality one way or another. I'm just saying that could be a potentially interesting curve ball to this whole thing.
I've never been huge TMNT fan, when I was little I would watch the series that aired in early 2000s and I remember very little but I do remember enjoying it. This story in right hands sounds great... In wrong hands it will piss-off fans I'm sure
The Last Ronin could be a peak TMNT movie with TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2! I’m excited for Transformers: One & the Transformers & GI. Joe crossover!

I read most of the comic and thought it was incredibly boring. But since I'm a big Nickelodeon fan, I'll probably still see the movie since it'll be a significant part of their history as their first R rated movie.
From reading the title I knew this was gonna be based off the last ronin comic series.

The original comics were quite dark and gritty so its kinda a shock that they're only just now attempting to tell a mature adult story.
I have to be the one to tell you folks this, but this is a tax scam.
Paramount saw WB get away with a high tax break from cancelling their films, and now they are "announcing" films that have ZERO chance of making it into cinemas so that they can cancel them later for tax breaks.
This film is never getting released.
Pin here. For anyone that asked too soon, this is a live-action variant of Ninja Turtles that we hadn’t gotten in 10 years. Seth Rogen and Nickelodeon had already greenlit a sequel to Mutant Mayhem months ago.
When it comes to the shows/films, many of them tailor to kids (especially with the 1987 show, 2018 show, and Mutant Mayhem). Because of that, I didn't think Paramount would release a R rated TMNT film.
However, I am pleasently surprised and excited for this movie and the video game release, which I think comes out this year (don't quote me on that though. It could be 2025 or 2026.). A TMNT film like this is something that a lot of TMNT fans (including myself) have really wanted to see for a long time.

Ever since I first read the comic, I have been wanting a proper adaptation of this since it’s one of my favorite TMNT stories I’ve ever seen.
Also, I highly recommend you check out the comic for yourself. If you liked Logan or the Old Man Logan stories, then you’ll probably enjoy it.

Last Ronin absolutely messed me up when I first read it and I swear if this movie is well done, I am going to loose it and just break down crying
Finally, hopefully with a thrilling story and not so overpowered characters and less steroids. And maybe maybe, without computer animations but I think that's impossible.

@@justinthewarrior9165 The characters were originally R rated though. The first Turtles comic was extremely gritty and violent. Not really a big change, just an ode to the franchise roots.

It doesn't sound like a bad idea assuming they actually follow the original story. I hope they do suits like the old movies. It would be wiser assuming they shell out for good animatronics artists instead of cheaping out a la TMNT III.
