  • A Sikh American teenager, is having nightmares about a hairy monster, after being trolled online on the vlog channel he runs with his happy-go-lucky friend, Sunny. Clearly, Sunny does a better job hustling his immigrant parents than does poor Monty, who is suffocated by his coddling mother and terrified of his traditional father who berates him at the mere mention of cutting his abundant hair. How can Monty express his Sikh and American identities while keeping trolls, monsters and parents at bay?

It does so many things brilliantly. The wearing a beanie even when it's hot outside, the dad's attitude, the trying to cut your own hair, the family meltdown. I'm glad people are talking about these issues more not in a preachy but observational manner.

I think this video underlines a really good topic to discuss. Our parents and grandparents were too busy in building houses earning money and stuff they forgot to tell us about panth and spirituality. They didn’t get themselves taught upon this and how to deal with these kind of questions.
All my sake is that we should really try understanding and finding ourselves from history thay why this is important why that is important. Because bgair shradha de rakhe v pakhand e ne. Jad tak prem ni guru nal tad tak sab pakhand hai

Khalsa is an army of volunteers. Anybody can leave like 40 mukte. But Sikh parents should teach their children rather than forcing which just pushes the children away from sikhi. I have been in the position. I know it.

Jesus Christ, this is so true, I spent all my life being afraid. I am honestly not able to comprehend why do I need to live a restricted life. Being honest, I was brilliant and all, got myself featured in the top national daily and all, and when I got the chance to study at a global university with some of the best brains from around the world, (even though not direct), I just had to self isolate myself because all 50 percent of my conversations are just explaining my background to people. Yeah people would say this is exotic and all, but I would much rather live a plain life than an exotic one. Not only that, these long curly hair are so long to maintain and being honest once again, my hair and the identity I inherited from my family has to be one of the top reasons for the downfall I am seeing in my life right now.

You can teach sikh history santhya to your children (my parents didn't even taught that much) but when it clicks you will find love. Then it's upto the kid maharaj kirpa karan or individual.
