Intergalactic jazz trio The Comet Is Coming blew us away when they came down to Goldsmiths Music Studios.
I love how most of these London area groups are part of an interchangeable collective. Everybody pretty much plays in everybody else's band bringing a more interconnected communal spirit and love of music back to the fore.
These guys are the best thing I've heard all year.
00:00 The Prophecy
02:36 Journey Through The Asteroid Belt
08:12 Do The Milky Way
12:39 Final Eclipse
19:32 March of The Rising Sun
24:31 Cosmic Serpent
27:32 New Age
33:05 Neon Baby
36:36 Space Carnival
love the acidic jazz, getting sun-ra intentions right here
5 years ago! ....Now even better live. Banging!
Fork me, that guy can toot!
Peter McDonald he should collab w/ flying lotus
That'd be a wild collab!
Anyone claiming 'they don't make good music any more' will be countered with links to bands like The Comet is Coming and Vulfpeck.
Listen this guys about one year, love this sound, but after that live - I'm in absolute exaltation! Want to listen this with my own eyes! Amazing!
That drum break at 30:00 🙌
The keyboard player is awesome!

this is what actually is going through my head most of the time
Wow! Stereo!

Wow... this band
rage against the machine of jazz
J A Z Z against the machine
There's already a band called Jazz Against The Machine.

Beautiful chacarera at 24:33.
Phenomenal
Funky Grooves guys.
Boiler Room It would be great if they do Session with Sons of Kemet....
Both are playing on this years Roskilde Festival, and at the same time... I'm torn!
@@mathe1337 That sounds impossible, as King Shabaka is sax in both bands... :p
I know he's skilled, but not that skilled! Or maybe he was torn too!
thank you... that was what i needed today... :)
Tiny Desk brought me here.
Me too 😉 ... I discovered Tiny Desk a few days ago , it's a wonferful channel 😜👍
( 🥴 sorry for my english, I'm french and I don't speak english since I left school in 1990 🤓 ) 😅
@@balthazartyshow1765 Your English is fine, it is probably better than my French 😁
We are together. Just watched the tiny desk. No I'm here. These guys are amazing 🔥🔥🔥

Coachella lineup brought me to Apple Music. Saw they had a boiler room set recorded. Had to watch the video on RUclips. Tiny desk is next.

Love it !
28:00 is very good
I'm a fan of Melt Yourself Down, but hadn't heard of The Comet Is Coming until they were announced as playing the New Zealand Jazz Festival this year... listened to a few minutes of this, now have three front row tickets for me and my kids :) Anyone know the name of the song starting at ~33 minutes in?
Neon Baby, they have a great video with that tune.
Friggin lucky kids ! You are the cool kind of dad !
Solo se que el es un gran saxofonista "shabaka hutching" fenomenal como solista en the "sons of kemet" y en colaboraciónes como está "the comet Is coming... O kabaka AND the anscestor uff!!! Y más .. sería bueno conocieran su biografía.

I have to know the song at 34:00 - actually please dont tell me , I'll just listen to all their works to find :D
Found it yet? Don't say the title, just curious how your journey was.

SF-SN ❗

6.55 hooooweeee

Full setlist plz?
Does anyone know what this guy's synth setup is?
sounds amazing
Song that starts about 9:10 ish....totally imagine a final Jojo:BA boss fight.
whats the song starting at 27:00? damn thats beautiful
Don't know if it's the mix.. It just sounds flat. Other than that, it's all totally Hawkwind in the 80's especially Inner City Unit.
kabeauregardajax definitely got that Hawkwind/Gong thing going on with a sprinkling of Zappa in places.
🎵⚡🎶🎶 😜👍🎶🎶 🔥 🎶 🌟
Hola, ¿alguien sabe cómo se llama la canción del minuto 15?
E x t a s i s
name for the 14:!5 song? PLEASEEE i can't finf it
Is this jazz or rock? Sounds amazing 🇿🇦🔥
Neither, they are in another dimension
its called razz
If someone came up to me and said "categorize this music or die!", I'd say "Psychedelic Afrobeat".
A quien le importaría esto solo es música fenomenal! Pero bueno "hutching" (Sax) tiene raíces afro jazzisticas
Yes
what other Boiler room sets feature wind instruments?
John Baylies Moses Boyd boiler room set does check it out.
Yeah the Moses Boyd one is so good
John Baylies Anna Meridith.
"shabaka hutching" " the sons of kemet" "shabaka AND the anscestor" " the brothers mover on" the comet Is coming "...
Is that Simon The Magpie's brother on keyboard?
con huevos estos tipos, la rola del minuto 33 comodidades se llama? ayuda capitan!
"Neon Baby"
Anyone know the name of the tune at 3:30 ????
Journey Through The Asteroid Belt
antisha Tks
When Tosin Abasi gets bored of playing guitar
@15:10 Too Many Zooz
Bit disappointed with the sound quality -- but nice performance.
co to kurwaa jeest ?!!
these guys need a bass player
To be fair synth could do with more low end in the mix for this session. On the album and live, synth normally has it covered: thecometiscoming.bandcamp.com/track/journey-through-the-asteroid-belt-channel-the-spirits
Yeah, the mix is off, you don't properly hear Dan the Danalogue, who would give some depth to the music. If you have the chance, go and see them, they are amazing. Blew my head off, their energy is palpably awesome.
Great music, although unbalanced with the bias on the electronica and horn, some of the drummers subtleties lost in the reproduction process.
Total garbage
yeah? well FUUUUUUCK you!
Go create, don't player hate. Fucking banging set!
Ignorance is Bliss
