@@ioerror The River Styx is the passage into the underworld in Greek mythology in which souls of the dead are trapped within to live out eternity unto Hades as mere servants. As for relation to POSTAL and/or it's Redux variant would be linked to the train level, as it is then that the main protagonist/Postal Dude goes on in his war journal entry about the River Styx. More specifically to quote him: "[10/19/97] Next stop: Armageddon, the River Styx, Hades... and all points in between! All aboard!"
You know, I'd honestly be fine with another game from RWS with the same tone as postal 1/redux. I'm not sure about it being another isometric shooter, maybe an FPS like postal 2. (and no, eternal damnation doesn't count, that game was less disturbing and more edgy as hell) As much as i will admit that postal 2 is the better game i find something fascinating about redux. It's so interesting to try and pick apart.
Suzie Scattersilk I am 2 years late, but I showed off the sample of the Silent Hill sound on it’s own (without the beat) at the start of the video if you’re still interested. ruclips.net/video/j4-Ksbd_Rkw/видео.html
Zero G''s Altered States "Gong Bowl Atmos" is used as a sample here with some elements I'm not very familiar of (like the breathing). Very fitting choice, the long drawn out drones combined with this imagery gives a sordid and highly unsettling feel of decrepit enjoyment, as close to seeing the insides of POSTAL DUDEs wet dreams of death, as if he enjoys ridding his perceived delusions despite being the maker of them!
God I love this game. It may be kind of edgy, I guess, but the way I see it, is that it's a game about a mentally disturbed man snapping one day under the pressure of life and completely giving up on sanity. He does not care for who he kills, he does not care who they are, he just kills, thinking he's doing something heroic and aiding the Earth. I also see from the loading screens that he does not feel any comfort whatsoever. Every place looks and sounds like a horrible, unsafe place, with something just waiting around every corner, or is it? I could not imagine the feeling of going through empty places and seeing all the dead bodies, Postal Dude probably feels like the lonest person ever. It's miserable, the fact is that Postal Dude could be killing largely 'cause he's afraid for his own safety. Thinking that everyone is out to get him. And in the end he's closed in a mental asylum, for his mind to torture him mentally with voices, graphic imagery and desorientation, all the while he sits in a corner cowering. Simply amazing.
I heard this song in Shadows of The Damned. Is this a licensed track or did you guys strike gold so hard that Akira Yamaoka of all people thought to include this in a spooky horror comedy shooter?
I knew I heard it from Shadows of the Damned! I played Postal 1 for the first time just last week and when I quit I heard this and was like "Isn't there a track similar to this from a Silent Hill game or Shadows of the Damned?".
tbh this sounds pretty good, but isn't that like...similar to one of OFFs OST's? i mean if this was in the original Postal (from 1997), i'd say that maybe i should've known better, but if it was like used after OFF was made, i wouldn't know why but i'm not against that idea of using this music

makes sense the credits image would be a river of corpses, the aftermath of the massacre, the styx river.
What's the Styx river?

Wouldn't Eternal Damnation count since the main character is officially canon to the Postal universe?
