You should do a video about kilns. I have a tiny kiln with no way to tell what the temperature is so I'm wondering how I would make these lovelies and know when they are done. Thanks !
Hi Lisa if you have the type of kiln I am thinking of (I started off with the same type but I only used it for silver clay) it is difficult to advise. You can only really open the kiln and see how the glass is doing. If you do not want the expense of a bigger kiln then maybe you could try a microwave kiln. I have some videos about those too. Hope this helps. :)
@@ArtsandCraftsTI thank you, I do have one of those as well. I need to just jump in and get started making some things ! I'm a jeweler so I want to make some for jewelry
Hi Lyn. Yes you could fuse in the mwk but with care because they are thick pieces and might shock and break. I normally use the kiln for thin pieces, or frit, or small pieces so I can go straight to full 100% power. When fusing thick pieces like this it is better to start off at say 20% power for 4 mins, then 30% power for maybe 4 mins, then 40% or 50% then up to 100%. Its trial and error. If I am fusing in my mwk using thin or small pieces I go 8.45 to 9 mins for a tack fuse and 11 mins for a full fuse. These are when the kiln and mwk are cold. I have a lot of videos where you can see me using the mwk and I am just preparing some more which will be uploaded soon. Hope this helps. :)
Beautiful
Thank you for this really good informative video. I am just leaning about the glass & looking forward to starting to make things..
Thank you Victoria for taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated :)

Why did you do the top piece dichroic side down please?
Hi Lisa. Thank you for your question. I did that so it would create a nice clear cap to the piece :)
Can you fuse these in the microwave kiln? If so, how long?
