In reality, Dawson is not really "the worst" in these scenes. Dawson's trajectory in the series is to go from a pampered, dreamy and naive child, with its good and bad, to an optimistic, original and wise adult. The few mistakes in his career are part of his development. Generally speaking, in Dawson's Creek, the characters who learn from their mistakes are the most exciting to follow, especially Jen, Dawson, and Andie.
It’s a shame Jen regressed at one point, though… I loved her in season 1, 2 and parts of 3 and 4, when she wasn’t showcasing the post feminist bs. But her character went downhill from season 4 onwards.
It is clear that Dawson grew on a pink perfect world where nothing is a struggle and the series perfectly captures that image being shattered and him being in the real world and actually dealing with issues...he has TREMENDOUS growth throughout the series. S6E2 - It wasn't the perfect timing, he should have told Joey, yes, he's a bit more wrong than right. S3E23 - I'm not sure how this entered this video. He was actually just letting Joey go, she didn't owe him anything, but Joey was uncapable to make that decision for herself, hence, Dawson just let her go to be with whom she truly loved and accepted the consequences S3E21 - His reaction to the whole Joey/Pacey thing was natural, he wasn't betrayed, but it's a normal human reaction, it felt like for those two who were the world to him, moved on secretly without him and developed something, without him. His reaction is natural, not right, just natural (Same goes to S3E22 at the Prom) S2E16 - He's on the right there. Is not the best way to display being drunk and loud, but he felt like everyone around him was pretending and couldn't deal with their own things and just got somehow in the middle of everyone's own issues (Except Pacey and Jen, he shouldn't have said anything to them) S1E3: Yeah that's wrong but is, again, because of his "fake" world where everything should be like a movie... S2E2: Yeah that's wrong, but he was still a teen S1E4: Also wrong, but he was a still a teen living in a smalltown...that's Capeside basically, even Joey was harsh at Jen S2E22: He did the right thing The character of Dawson is not bad at all! He's a teen that's learning and growing, and boy he did. By Season 5 and 6 when he's on his own, in California, working, dealing with the real world, dealing with his dad's death, losing his virginity...he definitely grew and learned!

I am a Dawson skeptic but the situation with Joey's father has never been a negative. He did the right thing and he did a lot of awful things but this was never one
Pressuring someone to snitch on their father is wrong. If he told her that her father is dealing and her father lied to her and Dawson could persuade her that her father is still a crook then she could have done the right thing without her feeling like crap.l
The only Dawson that i like is the drunk one. At least he is honest and say what he really thinks abou the people in his life. I wish he could have been drunk during the whole show,he would have been so much bearable lol

But you included where he said she was free to do what she wanted. It appears you don't fully grasp the concept of someone being the worst.
I'm sorry but Joey was the actual worst, I could never stand her character and was always on Jen's side whenever she antagonized her for no good reason other than jealosy. Dawson might be really stupid and insecure, but a good person who cares about others for the most part, but Joey was beyond entitled and beyond selfish.

Also for the record the episode about Dawson giving Joey money for college is about the 1st initial payment of $15,000, not about paying for her entire college. Still a nice gesture. And you're argument about Natasha being his girlfriend when sleeping with Joey is irrelevant. He obviously thought there was some kind of a relationship that he had to call and end it. So stop arguing these points and find something new. That being said Dawson's character is very important to the series, even though he was annoying, James himself thought his character was annoying. James was an excellent actor. He played the annoying part well. Pacey had some questionable things, but I could list so many more great things that totally out way the bad
