So agree with you, that this has to be one of James best covers to date. His vocals are more beautiful than ever on this cover, I can feel that raw emotion, so powerful. The first time I listened to this cover I had tears in my eyes, I could really feel James vulnerability. Gosh I would love a album of covers like this. Superb. When I listened to this song on my way back home, I kept crying all the way, he was crying while performing this it's obvious, he really felt it so much that he broke my heart. That broken voice, I dunno what to say, I'm yet speechless since last night... What this performance done to me is indescribable...

I was getting serious vibes that a person who has experience with a serious addiction, would get hit very different by this cover.
Not sure if this is something James would have been thinking about with his history, but this was heavy, and beautiful in every way possible.

Thank you for your reaction and still trying to react to songs although getting problems with the copyright, I really respect that and also your honest and open James Arthur reactions :)
To the cover - I don't know but honestly I felt the same amount of emotions in both artists, just that Billies singing is more introverted while James is that but also more extroverted.. And in the same way James is able to perfectly sing the song with his techniques and shades out loud and releasing restraint in some segments, it breaks my heart equally to hear Billie struggling with this (especially he live performance is really emotional), with her emotions and trying to get it out but being swallowed somehow by it also..
She's appearing to me more like underwater while James is that kind also but tries to creatively free himself from it through not-held-back catharsis, in a "Train Wreck" style to some parts, and this is what I find so attractive in James singing, the little extra of catharsis and little push out of a depressive mood.. While feeling it and kinda being in it, expressing this through music like Billie does is potentially equally cathartic, but it would be a tiny step before James approach when it comes to the therapeutic process of allowing oneself more and more emotions and expressing them more freely.
As a disclaimer I have to say that only actual therapy helps though since music doesn't automatically heal, sad music can comfort but get one also stuck.. So
I'd recommend listen to such songs or covers like from James and Billie only a certain controlled time like an hour and then going on with life and experiencing lighter, happier, creative and awesome emotions, enjoying life to the fullest.

Prince Weasley, I have the exact same reaction to hearing James do this cover. Facial expressions, the wows, shaking my head in disbelief of what I'm hearing. I must agree that I am never trying to discredit another artist, but when James covers a song, he makes it his own and slays it every time. He deserves much more recognition than he gets. I have cried every time I listen to this. I ❤ him.
