Inspiring story. It could not have been easy for King George vI to have admitted he needed help. The fact the King would consider one of his subjects a personal friend… I got choked up.
I'm so glad your grandfather was successful in helping the King. The King was a good man and didn't deserve to have the affliction of stuttering. Despite the King being impatient and hot tempered your grandfather stayed working with him and was always there for him.
I saw the movie The King's speech Colin who played the King was very well his speech therapist I can't remember his name but he played in pirates of the Caribbean he played very well insulted Helena who played the queen she also was very good the movie was so good to see how he stuttered so bad and how the royal family made fun out of him it just shows you family sometimes can be hurtful❤❤❤
It's Geoffrey Rush - from a pirate Captain (Barbossa) to a Speech Therapist named Lionel Logue; he also played a Police Inspector (Javert) twice in "Les Miserables" (1998 and 2012)...
Same. You should read a book called Elizabeth and the Piccadilly Council. It's a new children's adventure series about the queen. It was written by an American which is very cool.
As a History major, it appalls me that he isn’t wearing white gloves, or any gloves, to handle the documents. Therefore, is staining them with his hands.
It's not like those items are on loan from a museum. They are his personal property, and have always been in his family's possession. Bottom line, while they are obviously of historical importance to the outside world, they're his family heirlooms.
tbh I read some of my grandpa's books he got from his dad so some of them are from the 20s and even though they traveled a lot they're still pretty intact except for yellowing pages Maybe it's why? And since they're royal documents they must be in a box most of the time so they're probably pretty well preserved idk I just love old books i'm not a professional ha ha
These are personal, family documents and NOT museum pieces and as such can be treated any way their owners wish. They can even burn them if they wish, so keep your prying eyes and criticisms to yourself.
@@christibaldridge2199 that's true, my great grandparents came from Lincolnshire in England. My family moved to Connecticut and Vermont. I still have some cousins living in the UK.
I'm a Aussie and very proud with the Aussie speech therapist to help the king ,he did a great job in helping ,the kings stutter was real bad an he did need help to talk
You wouldn't question why American people have a weird obsession with say, Ancient Egyptians right? It's called world history and culture. Anyone can be interested in it.
What great, humane, and decent people King George VI and Lionel Logue were. I find this story so very inspiring.
*human*

Lionel Logue was a very handsome man. :-)

A beautiful part of history where humanity usurps class and serves to inspire us all.
King George 6th was a great person
JarJarCinema videos You mean George VI, all of the royals names were in Roman numerals

He really should be wearing white cotton gloves or latex

Lionel Logue looked a lot like Colin Firth
Both handsome
Great movie WOW just watched it.
So Logue's own records indicate he worked with "Bertie" in 1926, not 1936 as indicated in the movie. Any comments on why this would be?
The beginning of the movie takes place in 1926, whereas when his father died the movie skips over 10 years. King George VI was indeed crowned in 1937.
It's a movie (but not a documentary), it follows some artistic rules! Therefore there are some more cases of inaccuracy.
The movie producers greatly shortened the time frame to make the story line flow better.
Am I the only one to hear one of Rachmaninov´s Études-Tableaux (adapted to strings from the original for piano) in the background music?
why do i feel like the nick glass in this recording is the same nick glass from the “deltic on ITN” video
Mmm, yes
Wie beim Schekspirs
Storys
What if he was just German like his father
Hi umm I am your cousin long story
How odd. Why does he call his grandmother Myrtle & Lionel.,. why not call them grandmother & grandfather?
Maybe because he is talking about him and her as a person. Another reason could be because he never met his grandfather and grandmother.
Since his grandfather died in 1953, and he does not look 67, they might not have met.
00:43 who is this man?
His grandson
Oh wow, why isn’t he wearing cotton gloves to prevent his hand oils from touching those documents?
I think it's not the original?
Get the man some fucking gloves.

American people have a weird obsession with the British Monarchs
Most of us ARE descended from British ancestors.
