This is the most underrated song in Disney ever! While Let It Go and others are good, this blows them all out of the water. Shame on the director and crew from cutting this from the flim! This is at least my 2nd favorite Disney song of all time (only Transformation in Brother Bear beats it imho), and after almost 25 years, that says alot!
It is a shame but also they had kids watch this part of the film because they weren't sure the would like it the kids didn't like the scene so it was cut but in some version the song is in it like for the tenth anniversary of the movie
The lyrics really start up the water works for me :) they ring true for me when I think about my fiancé, who's the light to my life. Before I met him I had just lost my sister who was my best friend and I felt so completely lost and empty, I was lost in a dark place after she died. That's when my love came into my world and brought me out of the sadness I was in and helped me become a new person, I never expected to find love after having loss but I never want to think where I'd be without ever knowing my love.
Whoever came up with the brilliant story of making the sequel is dead to me. I know its more historically accurate, but I don't care. In my mind, Pocahontas and John Smith live happily ever after. TOGETHER.
Actually the sequel is the continued story. Pocahontas In real life ended with john rolfe. But i just wish he wasnt there so john smith anf her could reunite without anybody else
However, I agree that her and Rolfe's relationship should've been a lot deeper. I know that they wanted to make her be more mature instead of clinging to the past, but like you said, they needed to add more spiritual elements. We never saw her falling for Rolfe like she did for Smith. Still, I liked the sequel as a kid - except for that Rolfe-Smith choice, like most of us in the end...
I think everyone feels dissapointed that in the sequel pocahontas settles for john rolf and not john smith. i think it had to be done because its the first disney film to be based on a real historical character. The encounter between pocahontas and john smith was fictional and according to history she does marry john rolf. The fictional relationship between john smith and pocahontas seems so beautiful with the whole concept of her following the wind, the arrow and listening with her heart.
I have this on VHS and when I was little, I'd always wait until this song came on before I turned it off. It seems like forever ago. I really need to watch it again.
the sequel is so confusing i swear. John Rolfe ruined everything. Why could it be John Smith and Pocahontas. Pocahontas two should be about how the govener killed john smith, and how Pocahontas is going to england to find him, then shes goes to jail/prison, escapes and finds John smith, takes him back to Jamestown/ werewoocoom and they live their together. PERIOD.
Love this song. It's absolutely amazing and fits Pocahontas and John Smith perfectly. Unlike most whiny fans, I happen to like Disney sequels and I even grew up on some of them. As for John Rolfe, Disney was just being historically correct. It is what it is
This is a great song.I used to always sing this when i was 8.Beautiful voices :) Love the way it was about two very different people falling in love with each other :)
I seem to remember in the fall of 1995, this song was pretty popular on adult contemporary stations only. I don't think we ever heard it on a mainstream station. And of course they would play it overhead in a grocery store, where they play all the obscure stuff. But to me this is absolute number one material
I agree, the second Pocahontas wasn't as interesting. to me, it wasn't very memorable. the only thing that I remember from it is that there was like a bear or something and John smith was supposedly dead but he wasn't. I don't know.
I was always surprised this didn't get more awards recognition like "Colors of the Wind." I, personally, find this song to be superior, but maybe that's just me.
Actually, Pocahontas and John Smith did meet, but she was 12 year old girl and he was around 30-40, I think. And if I'm not mistaken, she did help restore peace between the American settlers and Native Americans, but she and Smith were never in a relationship, or at least it's never been proven. She married Rolfe years later as a sign of peace and that was one of the first - if not the first - marriages between Native Americans and the settlers.
I agree, the second was kinda crappy. It's not because of Pocahontas' relationship with Rolfe, it's just... I don't know... It's not as interesting as the first one. :\
Everytime i hear this song, it reminds me of my ex who i still love with all my heart. this was our song, and i will always cherish because if i never knew her i would never have had such a feeling of love.
People are going to hate me for saying this, but after watching the 2nd movie again, I decided that I was pleased with the ending. Part of me will always be sad that she didn't choose John Smith, but it was actually realistic. How many people marry their first loves? Besides, John Rolfe is actually really cute with her
this song is kinda my life, if i never knew my ex then idk wat i do, there is not one moment i regret spending with him this song speaks in great legnths all you have to do is open up your ears and heart and you'll here it
this song i think reall describes how my characters in my story feel about each other. And i also love this song it soooooo sweet. I don't know where i would be now if i never loved Abe.
Of course there are Disney sequels. For example Pocahontas, The Lion King, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin... quite many of them ;)
i know they met, i just meant that their relationship was fictional. but i totally agree with you, rolfes and pocohontas's relationship just wasnt beautiful enough, it would been nice to see the spiritual element between them.
The woman of my dreams told me she promises to see me again, and she said like Rapunzel from Tangled says, she never goes against a promise. I hope the promise happens soon enough. I love her. 💕

I feel the same way! It is a very emotional song!!!! Very beautiful and relaxing!!!!
Same 😢❤
The 80's and 90's had some of the best music

What an amazing story, I love it!❤❤❤❤. So deeply sorry for your loss!
That's so sweet! Are you still together? ❤❤
@@MaryTheresa1986Right! I hope they are and are in a healthy happy loving relationship ❤
Definitely can’t sing this without crying. These words are too beautiful😭😭😭
I'd rathet die tomorrow, then live 100 years not knowing you.
Me: I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna...waaaaahhhhhhhh!!!
Breaks me down in tears. Makes me think of how grateful I am to know my future wife. So thankful to God for creating love.

No❤️
Perhaps they should make another sequel
Otaku? XD
She was kidnapped as a 12 year old child
This story was not such a fairytale it’s an insult to her real legacy
However, I agree that her and Rolfe's relationship should've been a lot deeper. I know that they wanted to make her be more mature instead of clinging to the past, but like you said, they needed to add more spiritual elements. We never saw her falling for Rolfe like she did for Smith.

Would i be crazy if i said this, I'd be watching the video on a rainy Tuesday listing to Disney music ALL FUCKING DAY!
AND ACTUALLY SINGING IT LOL
This is truly one of my favorite duets! It really expresses how I feel "about the love of my life!"
I have this on VHS and when I was little, I'd always wait until this song came on before I turned it off. It seems like forever ago. I really need to watch it again.
The most beautiful song i have ever heard , can't stop listening to it

To be fair the sequel was more faithful to the real life of Pocahontas than the first film.
This one of the GREATEST songs of all time!
I love this song.
Love this song. It's absolutely amazing and fits Pocahontas and John Smith perfectly. Unlike most whiny fans, I happen to like Disney sequels and I even grew up on some of them. As for John Rolfe, Disney was just being historically correct. It is what it is
can i tell u something, i'd be here right now on a rainy friday and i would be listing to disney music all day C:
***** The Little Mermaid 2 was just reharsh of the first movie...
***** It's more like how Ariel is like Marlin & Melody is like Nemo.
***** You're right. But I don't want Disney to make a Frozen 2.
JackHammer87: I just watched Pocahontas 2, and I don't care if it's historically correct or not, It's even more boring than the first film!
This song matches two of the characters I'm writing a story about so well! I love it and can't stop listening to it! Thank you for posting it
