Always remember the full circle. When you have Blue skies, think Allman Brothers. When you think of Allman brothers, remember Dickey Betts. When you think of Dickey Betts, you remember Blue skies. It always comes back to you. Thank you Dickey Betts!
@@Johnboy33545that's the name of the band. Don't forget Dickey was there from the start. Just add much his legacy. Not to mention Blue sky and Ramblin man was Dickey.
Today is truly a sad day for many. This is my favorite Dickey song. I love this live version of it. RIP Dickey Betts. Reunited with your brothers in Heaven.
One of my favorite songs. When I heard it on the car radio when it came out I had to pull over and stop I was 19. Went straight to the record store to buy the eight track cartridge.Listened to it over and over. Now I'm 72 and still listen to it every week. I play guitar and still study this song.
I'm sad to say I can't play guitar, but my reaction was about the same, the first time I heard it. It blew me away. My favorite guitar featured instrumental, period. I just turned 72, myself. There is no one I had rather hear play than Dickey Betts.
Our band opened for Warren back in the 90’s, also ended up driving Woody to the bank so he could buy a guitar from me a few years later in my pickup truck! Miss those guys!
What nicer gentler kinder loving understanding self confident manly self assured peaceful one with nature and himself and musically toe tapping is. " don't fly mr. bluebird...I'm just walking down the road." 🎉
This was a young Warren Haynes playing the slide so great with Woody on Bass. This version of the band first brought the band back to the twin guitars with Warren on slide so Dickey could do his thing without worrying about playing slide. My favorite version of the band after Duane and Berry died.
Every one of the 16 times I saw the ABB was an incredible musical experience. Never any BS in the crowd. Everyone came solely to hear and watch musicianship at its finest. Peaceful, soulful and moving every time.
Tonight I sat on my stairs outside, reminiscing of my first show in 1995! I really put everything down and really took it in. Everyone was either stoned or on shrooms and it was a blast. My first time actually feeling the music, It's a beautiful night here for NY and I've been out here an hour just jamming, singing along and feeling good.. So many reunions happened today up in that far away place. I see our young friends, gone to soon singing Ramblin' man along side Dickey... what a legend! Forever ABB 🍄🍑🍄🍑❤️
Back where it all began, right? The absolute best concert environment when these beautiful people played. We were all there for the jam. Sun setting as they opened up with Hotlanta. The pre open music was always "Little Martha". Best of times.
One of the best songs from the Allman Brothers and the Late Dicky Betts. Song always puts a smile on my face when it mentions “ I’m going to Carolina won’t be long before I’m there”
Allen Woody was a monster bass player & i was lucky enough to know him from working at a music store outside of Nashcille..( Green Hills) 🍄🍑.I actually bought a 92 PRS /24/10 from his widow in Nashville..RIP Woody🍄🍑
They say they're the best rock band that played live music ever, I call them much more than that. Whether it was Duane, Dicky, Warren or Derek their music was solid and intact. Simply said, the greatest of all time.
I bought 2 different versions of this concert on DVD. The first one had interviews over this song. I wasn't happy about it. Bought another one without the interviews. Love it. Excellant DVD/concert.
All the good things we have said about Duane Allman I'm sure he probably would say I'm just somebody who love music and love to play, but I do want my music to touch and uplift everyone round the world man now that would be awesome 👍👍👍👍
Warren Haynes was a great addition to revive ABB back on top... And of course Maestro Dickey Betts.. Can't say enough.. Along with Gregg Vocals/ Keyboards
Rest easy, Dickey, my favorite Brother. This is my favorite Allman tune & one of my all time favorites - top 3. This loss stings. Like SRV stung. Legend. Icon.
I have been lucky enough to have seen the Allman Brothers in concert twice! Both times I remember them playing Blue Sky and it was definitely a highlight for me
I think I like the original, published recording the best, but they have played many different arrangements of this, some maybe improvised, on the spot, at the concerts. All are top notch.
Listen to that jam! listen to that music! Listen to those words! Beautiful music, I love this song, the positivity of it! “You’re my blue sky, you’re my sunny day” thank you Mr Betts!
Mr. Warren Haynes From Govt.Mule playing the Late Great Duane Allman's guitar solos on the last song that Duane worked on before the accident, RIP & dont Forget the Late Great Barry Oakley, RIP & Dickey & Greggory,
As a long time ABB fan, I've been blessed to see them many many times. Everytime was just as great as the last. At the Beacon Theater in NYC their 40th, 6 times in 10 nights. Never imagined the that time would be my last to see them live. Please keep the alive in your hearts and minds as they are the last of true legends.
Can i just say the audio mixing on this video is really good to me and totally captures the blending and dynamics of the whole band. Reminds you how tight their rhythm section of Trucks, Jaimoe and even Gregg’s organ were the best possible foundation for the guitar players.
EZ fella. Why not compare an apple to an apple. Warren is playing slide. This was a classic line-up! I missed out on the Duane period. But where I was really going was the resentment I felt was so deep when they kicked Dickey out of the band that I stopped following the Bros. & went to numerous Dickey Betts with Great Southern concerts from 2006-2014 & Dickey & his band were amazing! So going back to that resentment, I get tired of folks fawning over Dererk Trucks & being awestruck like he was the best thing that ever happened to the Allman Bros. D. Trucks is good but I like Warren’s slide playing better than Derek Trucks. I like Warren’s straight ahead wicked lead lines minus Derek’s Indian influences! To me this was this was the best lineup since Duane Allman was in the band!
The world was a better place when this music was on the radio!!! Rip gregg duane and dickey...you made my life a lot brighter!
And ZButchie
And Barry Oakley
Warren Haynes and Allen Woody put GREAT life back into this band in the early 90's and put them back out there as one of the BEST live acts ever.
AGREE 💯
If you were not born In that time period you have missed so much. Never again. Will there be such awesome music.
Ain't that the truth!! 🙌

I'd say always remember it's the Allman Brothers Band - Greg and Duane.
I do this too now add the song Dickey betts by Dean Ween and connect it to blue sky because the solo inspired the song lol
That why Hayes blows his doors off on this song

I play this every day over a cold beer. Still have my health, some loved ones and my dog. Thankful for what I got.

I always had problems with my eight track. Do not think they were designed to be listened to that much.

Thanks Skydog for this quote🎸✌🎸🙏
One of my favorite versions. Dickey was on a special kind of fire
Love how Dickey takes his time and builds it up slow.
My husband and I both loved southern rock even though we grew up opposite coasts😊
One of the best songs from the Allman Brothers and the Late Dicky Betts. Song always puts a smile on my face when it mentions “ I’m going to Carolina won’t be long before I’m there”

Mister Dickey Betts scorches it !!!
This might be the version from evening with the Allman Bros.
Agree. Sounds like it.
Not the same version. On the Evening With...version Warren doesn't start playing slide right at the beginning of his solo.
im thinkin all the tracks from that were pulled from beacon performances
Nope. This is quite s bit different.
This is from Great Woods 9/6/91
Warren Hayes was at his best with the ABB
He's at his best every day no matter who he's playing with that day.
👍
Who's the guy playing slide?? Duane would be proud. That's some nice playing right there.
Almost didn't look like Warren was gonna get the slide out of his pocket in time
Dickey at his height of rock star powers. He found his friendly nemesis in warren and it was a gift.
(BTW - Dickey was better than Duane😛)
