Drain Complaint 357 | Overflowing Sewer! Jetting Pump Didn’t Start - What Happened?

Early in the morning, we received a drain complaint about an overflowing blocked manhole. As we arrived to clear the blockage, the jetting pump failed to start! To fix the issue, we headed to the workshop for an engine self-starter repair. After getting it fixed, we returned, performed jetting, and successfully unblocked the manhole.

In uk that is called Polystyrene but you are nearly correct. It is a type of polythene

I think it was the battery and not the starter. If it was the starter it wouldn’t have cranked at all, the wires being used to jump the battery did not have a good connection!

i have lost count of the times i have washed engines in my cars and never in over 40 years has it done any harm. i would however clean and properly tighten the battery connections, poor power to the starter can cause it to overheat and too much heat can damage them. and sometimes they just get tired and fail.

Do you not check everything before going out? Petrol tanks full, water tank is full, engines start. FYI self starters go bad, with or without water being inside it. Maybe carry a can of starter fluid. 5 second spray in carburetor usually turns an engine right over.
