Happy Lao, Burmese, Khmer and Thai New Year!! Because I live in a cold city we wait until June to have a big celebration where they close down one street for food, music and spraying water. I has mostly been just a “Burmese New Year” which we call Thingyan (same thing as Songkran) but last year a small group from our relatively small Lao community came and sold papaya salad and some kind of flower cookie. It was great! I hope more SEA communities across the US come together to celebrate New Year/Water Festival together. It makes it so much more fun to share our food, dance and traditional clothing. We are all family and should come together more!! We are stronger together 💗🇱🇦🇲🇲🇰🇭🇹🇭💗
