Society talks a lot about racial, gender and economic privileges yet we barely talk about the privileges you get from being attractive. That would be an interesting discussion.
Attractiveness can be fairly subjective so it's a lot harder to get people to talk about it (you have to draw the line somewhere between attractive/unattractive but where?) especially since no one wants to think of themselves as ugly. Talking about race is easy for instance since it's litterally black and white and no one would be ashamed of the colour of their skin whereas ugly people may feel ashamed of their body and even be in denial about their (un)attractiveness.
There are classes out there that do in fact talk about them. Interestingly enough, those three things you mentioned contribute GREATLY to societies attractive standards. It actually defines them. Case in point clothes that are too big because you can't afford the latest trends (labeled as unattractive). Especially if you're a man as you're more expected to "provide" in the relationship. Not all of course, but many still hold these traditional beliefs. Don't get me started on Asian men (race and gender). People like to sugarcoat it but it's sexist racism.

I'm not saying attractive people don't have natural advantages, but that doesn't automatically make them assholes, nor are all women _(3.5 Billion people!!)_ the same. Interesting that the only way to pass a conversation off where Chase gets schooled in his looks not being important is if it’s from a woman who happens to be even better looking than him.

Pretty much all of his employees are different versions of himself that he hired, exept for a few. For instance Cameron was only hired because she was hot(meaning that she actually cared about her job as a doctor). House hired her because she has empathy for the patients to be sort of his moral line in the sand.
I like how chase is foreshadowed to be houses heir as he is the only one who has had house moments (apart from Wilson that one time) or gets ideas through random conversations, something he definitely learned from seeing house doing it literally all the time

I'll always love Chase because he facillitated the one time I have ever seen the word "Tosser" pronounced in a way that isn't pure cringe on an American-accented tv show.
He doesn't need all the other stuff. I'm a doctor (soon to be one), have a great hairline, a strong jawline, am fit, but just because I'm Indian, I have a hard time getting girls until I tell them my occupation or go on multiple dates with them so they get to know my personality. Being white is a HUGE privilege in itself. That Australian accent does help too.
I loved Chase and Thirteen's relationship, they were so good with each other without it being sexual (tho there were hints, it was played cool). By the end if this episode Chase asks to borrow Thirteen's car, she says no lol. My two favourites of House's team. The prodigal son and the prodigal daughter.
@@Ruukas9 yep definitely the money in that case. . . unless he pulled off some weird manipulation talk for a woman that's probably a 7-8 as he's certainly capable. he's done it before. . . . . but most likely the money

He’s literally based on Sherlock Holmes. House = Holmes. Wilson = Watson. In the very first episode of House, some text on the screen says that the show is based on Sherlock. The guy who shot House has the surname Moriarty, and one of the patients in season 1 has the surname Adler. There’s also a direct reference to Irene Adler in one of the later episodes.
I’m surprised at this point in the series that Chase still thought he could actually win a bet against House. If that man is willing to put money on the line, it’s because he knows he’s going to win.
Actually, since Cameron dumped him...Chase really avoided connecting with anyone because he did NOT want to be vulnerable and get hurt like that again. Hence, his endless parade of random hook-ups. It wasn't until he met the soon-to-be full-fledged nun Moira that Chase developed a real connection with another woman. One of the best House episodes and probably the best Chase centric one, 2nd ONLY to "The Mistake".
No, you don't. The issue isn't so much Chase's appearance but rather Chase in general contrasted to everyone else. A good looking, smart Australian is considerably more attractive in America than in Australia. House even said to lose the accent for a reason.
Lol reminds me of the phrase “thank god you are ugly! At least then you know that it’s true love”😂😂🤣 like Chase will never know if a person is in love with him or they are just attracted to his face
All Chase had to do was say he was a doctor and he'd be fighting off the ladies. With those cheekbones, and the peculiar American proclivity for foreign accents, there's no way anyone is turning him down.
To be fair, I think a lot of people who go to speed dates aren't looking for a super serious relationship, and then obviously looks will be of more importance. Just like how if you pick up some rando at a bar, they will go primarily off your appearance. Whereas if you meet people more naturally and look for a more serious relationship rather than a hookup or a fun little fling, looks will be significantly less important.

@@EhCanadianGamer Men and women are being judged by a different set of rules (behaviour, looks etc). Historically and not only, if you have any real knowledge of this world, men have been given a free pass on a lot more things, while women are being judged severely for lesser or completely normal actions.
That being said, because of your paragraph, I so liked this snippet of the show, because it alligns with my truth on the subject.. while the sexes indeed have differences between them (both genetically and programmed by society), on basic biological level we are humans, which means we would exude the same set of behaviour or instincts.. in this scense, we are all enticed by the looks of a person at first.(and how could it be different, if you dont know them) Its logical, I think, because this is not only beauty (thats subjective).. hormones, chemistry, biology...
Both sexes mistake lust for like, its human, its hormones, it is how the brain works. They project the vision they have of tish person, onto the person, without actually getting to know them..
They are so many things in play, when it comes to humans and interpersonnal relashionships and so on.. me personally, I cannot find a person attractive, if I dislike their personality(from experience) .. I think it can go both ways for both of the sexes.

Jesse Spencer demonstrated great comedic ability in those scenes. It's actually a pity they weren't exploited more during the series.

Only valid privilege. All the others are bullshit compared to attractive privilege.

What, like you heard about it in the paper? Give me a fucking break.
You're right about one thing, though- women do stay with abusive boyfriends, but looks have nothing to do with it.
It's mostly psychological, like Stockholm Syndrome or (there are a lot of ugly pimps out here in Chicago) a feeling of comfort and safety (the girls tend to gloss over the beatings in their own minds.)
I'm not saying attractive people don't have natural advantages, but that doesn't automatically make them assholes, nor are all women _(3.5 Billion people!!)_ the same.
That's just ridiculous and leads me to believe that you're either too young for experience with women, or are the classic "nice guy" they cry to when they have problems, because you're too boring for anyone to date.

@@Ruukas9 yep definitely the money in that case. . . unless he pulled off some weird manipulation talk for a woman that's probably a 7-8 as he's certainly capable. he's done it before. . . . . but most likely the money
The woman with the crossword might've submitted him anyways. She's trying to sell herself as an intelligent woman and she's trying to appeal to men who are intelligent and a little arrogant about it and not only did House hit all the criteria, he flushed her entirely.
@@forgottenfamily, she was playing with her hair after he roasted her...that's often a sign of interest. Maybe she likes that.
House is the medical variation of Sherlock Holmes.
I'm about to explode your mind: Holmes in British English sounds like "Homes" - Homes, House
And, of course, he's got his trusty partner Watso--I mean, Wilson.
the show is based off that....his best friend is also called Watson :P
He’s literally based on Sherlock Holmes.
House = Holmes.
Wilson = Watson.
In the very first episode of House, some text on the screen says that the show is based on Sherlock. The guy who shot House has the surname Moriarty, and one of the patients in season 1 has the surname Adler. There’s also a direct reference to Irene Adler in one of the later episodes.
no shit, Sherlock
"I wish, bro" - Dr. Robert Chase
I’m surprised at this point in the series that Chase still thought he could actually win a bet against House. If that man is willing to put money on the line, it’s because he knows he’s going to win.
"I've been deluding myself that I'm actually connecting with people.. "
Feeling sorry for him there.. !!
SAME POOR BOY
Actually, since Cameron dumped him...Chase really avoided connecting with anyone because he did NOT want to be vulnerable and get hurt like that again. Hence, his endless parade of random hook-ups. It wasn't until he met the soon-to-be full-fledged nun Moira that Chase developed a real connection with another woman. One of the best House episodes and probably the best Chase centric one, 2nd ONLY to "The Mistake".
Chase is prettier than me and I resent him for it
😂🤣 in the first few seconds....
Wilson: what are you doing tonite?
House:MASTER BATING!! I’d invite you but people are already talking.
master bating? this has to be a bad joke but it's so bad i can't see why you would make it
LOL
Portgas D. Ace I think he’s a master bater himself ... THE BATE MASTER is here 😂😂
Yup Chase is good-looking, but have you seen Wilson? If you watched dead poet's society you'll agree. lol
He was never good looking especially not compared to Jesse
Wait, Jose? who went to high school in Harrison, NY? That Jose De Leon?
@@FrankWolenczak no, diff person I guess. this name is very common :)
wilson is very cute, esp earlier version of him, but not drop dead gorgeous like chase
I was just catching up with this series. But when i first saw Wilson, he kinda reminds me of Commander Erwin Smith of attack on titans..
3:05 life changing realization for Chase lmao.
And later he asks prettiest person ever if the looks are that relevant
Chase and thirteen discussing pretty people problems is hilarious
Lmao imagine having Chase's problems, I wish.
No, you don't. The issue isn't so much Chase's appearance but rather Chase in general contrasted to everyone else. A good looking, smart Australian is considerably more attractive in America than in Australia. House even said to lose the accent for a reason.
Having to compete with Chase would be a nightmare. It's over before it even begins and I cannot lie and say it's undeserved.
“Date men, they’re not shallow at all” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like that Chase is hanging out with House and Wilson. We don’t normally see that outside of the hospital. It’s refreshing.
“You mean you’re dating *on* meth? Count me in.” 😂
Just had the shittiest day and I needed something anything to get out of this funk, this was perfect. Thank you so much for putting this together.
"the rest is your hair" lol
yeah..he really is.
“ over a 5 minute discussion of Proust ? “ that’s a good line
“...and I’m on fire for the lord”
Plot twist: she’s a witch.
Lol reminds me of the phrase “thank god you are ugly! At least then you know that it’s true love”😂😂🤣 like Chase will never know if a person is in love with him or they are just attracted to his face
@John Sampson probably lol i never felt true love for anyone who wasn't good looking.
4:03 House just set that woman on fire.
Chase : " how good looking am I?"
Me : " very"
Chase going speed dating with House and Wilson earned him a House Eureka moment.
Chase came up with a very “House” answer
After careful and thoughtful analysis I concur with Wilson and House that Chase is in fact good looking.
No homo but I'd date Chase too
No hetero you mean
@@JarinUdom LoL
“I’m on fire for the lord” house’ expression😂✊🏻same buddy
Does anyone realize that Chase is like Gregory House Jr.? They have pretty much the same personality
"I'm going speed dating."
"You mean you're dating on meth?"
LMAO
chase and thirteen are the most underrated duo in the series
4:02. I love it when House does this.
There is NO WAY a player like Chase is that clueless about women.
1:01 What's with that bald guy??? He has a crush on House hahahaha
And what about the average looking men who want to have a casual relationship and nothing serious?
@@jackricheie9683 Of course physical attractiveness is a bigger factor if you're just looking for something casual, especially if it's only a hookup type deal. Buuut even in those cases less attractive people manage to score, it's not like it's a "7's and up" kind of thing. You just gotta rely a bit more on charm and charisma if you're not gorgeous
@@KreeZafi I hate pretty people
@@KreeZafi Also, I'm hugely impressed that you replied. I didn't think replying to a 2 yr old comment would get me a reply, much less within an hour.
@@jackricheie9683 Heh well RUclips notifies me of comment replies - it's a bit more embarrassing when people respond to comments I left like 8 years ago which I may no longer agree with 😅 Annoyingly though it seems to not be showing me whatever you said before the "also" bit, I can see there are four replies but it only displays three

"I can tell by your hips" Chase is good-looking enough to say something like that and get away unscathed. The fact that he delivered it as soon as the girl finished speaking always cracks me up, even more so with that slight widening of eyes
How I wish I could say I understand your struggles, Chase.
Chase had a "House" moment...😂😂😂
It's funny that he says "lose the accent" when Hugh is the only one putting on an accent.
4:17 LOL..House is just roastng these people
I like to think one of those women had her eyes on Chase from the moment he walked in the door but also happens to be excellent at lip reading
4:44 my~ Indeed!
Chase - How good looking am I?
Yes.
The opening is fire,House is legend 0:05
Bruh the way he says ''she gave me the key'' way cracks me up. It's like he just cant believe that people actually find him attractive. For him its actually as if he just found unlimited power 😂
4:47 wilson was so dissapointed looking at the back of the cards it killed me
I love this show! Chase is so adorable.
6:45 Spoken like a very attractive person whom people are more than happy to give as much time as necessary to get to know.
