Oh i love that, you can't break the rules until you know them😊 Thanks for introducing these mew paints and paper, sounds a pretty good deal, and thanks for the discount 😊❤
Ah, but those rules exist regardless of your knowledge of them. If someone commits a crime, you also wouldn't say they didn't commit a crime if they didn't know it's a crime, would you? If rules exist, you can break them. Your knowledge of them doesn't matter. Here in Germany we have a saying for that, which goes; Unwissenheit schützt vor Strafe nicht. Which translates into "Ignorance does not protect one from punishment". So, yeah. As long as rules exist, you don't need to know them to break them. You just don't know you broke them. But you still broke them.
This is good to know! I purchased a large (52 half pan) empty palette from Meeden, which I filled myself and I love, but I didn't even know they sold watercolors or paper. I will be trying these for sure. Thanks!
This is a great video! For practice work it seems the paper and paints cannot be beat for price and performance. We would probably be shocked at the facilities that manufacture the same products for numerous companies. There may be a slight difference in quality or ingredients but not enough difference to detect many times! Thank you for your time and knowledge that you are so generous to share.
I ordered Meeden's watercolor set of 24 tubes and an empty tin palette for them. I used your code Diane and within four hours after ordering I received an email the order had been shipped! The only thing faster would have been for a knock on the door and the package on the front porch!
Hi Diane, thank you for the tip. They were out of the paint set by itself, but they had it with the paint brushes for about $10 more. I was able to use your code even with this paint set and the shipping is free, which is awesome. I don't know how soon I will receive it, but I look forward to it. It's much cheaper than the other sets. Thank you.
Thank you Diane, pigments is something I would never think about,so learning somthing new,I might sneakily buy some of these even though I have more paints than you can shake a stick at,including some you have mentioned, but what I say is you can never have to many candle 's cushion s and water colour paint ,Cheers take care ☺
I’m no expert on pigments either, but I know good paint when I see it, and I have nothing but good to say about these cheap and cheerful Meeden paints! If it encourages people to paint more and to share with more kids then I’m all for it. I have also got more paint than I could ever use, And candles. And cushions!!!!
Meeden paper is identical to BaoHong- made in the same factory. Same paper, different cover. So no reason not to buy Meeden instead. They are going to start making different sizes soon.
Everytime you took a new color I thought O no… your sleeve is hanging in the downhalve of the pallet… haha.. thanx for this.. I too have empty pans from them.. but never knew they had paints..
I cannot find the description with the link for purchase. Strange. Love your channel Diane. I’m excited about quality and reasonably priced materials. Thank you.
This was very interesting, especially seeing these compared with your other sets. Were you happy with the paper Diane? It would be good to know your opinion as cotton paper is generally so expensive, and seems very reasonable.
Yes, I was happy with the paper, and I’m going to do a video about it when I have tried it a few more times and know some actual facts about it! I don’t want to speak too soon about the quality of anything, there’s so much confusion out there…
Thank you for this. Is there a chance you could do a session on brushes. I am new to painting and would appreciate some guidance on the best value brushes and a suggested list of which ones are of most use.
Hi Diane I'm finding your swatching out and explanation of colours and pigments, history etc very interesting. I have a question which is probably known to some , but not me, and I can probably google it and find an answer but thought others might have the same question. Why do many colours have the words chinacridon, philosophy, cadmium or cobalt in front of the colour?
The words like Quinacridone, Cobalt, Cadmium and Dioxazine refer to the chemistry of the pigment. Quinacridone and Dioxazine pigments are synthetic dyes. Cobalt and Cadmium are metals which are used to make chemicals which are coloured. Hope this helps!
Will be ordering the Meeden 24 watercolor paint. The Meeden paper is out of stock. Is there another you can recommend? Also, can you recommend a palette for the 24? Thank you.
Hi, yes, I have a suggestion for paper, this one is 100% cotton and a reasonable price amzn.to/3BysvNy It‘s by Speedball and it‘s called FLUID paper. They also have one which is cellulose and a lower price amzn.to/3Mj36fU I‘m planning to use this paper when I run out of Meeden. If you‘re looking for a ceramic palette, I recommend the Meeden large round, which will make it so much easier for you to paint expressively. tinyurl.com/meeden-large-palette. Ceramic is more aesthetically pleasing than plastic. But if you prefer plastic, which I use, you could try this one:amzn.to/3WcF0HT Hope this helps, and glad you are enjoying the channel xx
I watched Kirsty’s video too. Meeden sell BaoHong paper on their website as well as their own Meeden brand. I imagine there is a connection but I didn’t hear Kirsty definitively state that she knows for a fact that the papers are the same. Probably true, but we are guessing. I’m going to contact Meeden tomorrow and see if I can find out a bit more about the provenance of these Chinese papers. I imagine that there is one huge factory in China, producing dozens of different brands all to different standards and with different labels. I would like to know the truth too.
If you mean for shipping, they told me they have warehouses in the US, UK, France Australia and Canada. Maybe more. There seems to be an office in the US but I can’t confirm that.
I’m new and have a cheap watercolor set and a cheap gouache set and watching these trying to figure out what new watercolor I want to purchase, I think I really lean toward watercolors that are more opaque. 🤔 does this mean I’m a gouache girl?
It MIGHT mean that you are a Kuretake girl. The sets of Kuretake paints are between watercolor and gouache and are a dream to paint with. I expect the price will go down after Christmas, it’s a bit elevated right now because of the gift giving frenzy, but here’s a link Kuretake Gansai Tambi set of 36 colors amzn.to/3KXuWxB (about $36)
Great Diane, I agree with the names, I much prefer the normal names 😊 Love your flowers and you make them look so easy, mine usually look a mess 🙈 Have you tried the tubes of Arteza watercolour paints?
@@DianeAntoneStudio hi Diane, I haven't tried gouache (apart from some white) but the Arteza watercolour tubes are nice, great range of colours. I just wondered if you had tried them and how you thought they compared to others. Their watercolour pans I didn't like so much, (admittedly, it was a cheap one around £15 for 25 pans )much prefer Winsor & Newton in that regard. I must get some gouache and play 😀
No link from your page to Meeden and when I went to their order page there was no paper, I did message them with your code though so i hope you get credit
I’m going to demonstrate a folding palette soon (by Meeden) which seals airtight and keeps the paints from drying out for longer. But in any case you can “reawaken” them once they have dried, by adding a little water and letting them absorb it for a few minutes.

Yes, I think you’re right. Meeden have just confirmed to me that Baohong and Meeden watercolor paper are the exact same product with different covers!
🥰 thanks for sharing this, Diane. It helps a lot 👌🏼
They look beautiful paints. Thank you. Enjoyed the video and painting.
Thanks so much, yes, they are amazing for the price!
It is amazing what simplicity can create. I am excited to try this. You've done it again thanks
Nice colors for a great price!
Very nice. I love a good cheap set of watercolors to play with. What fun.

Try using just the tip of a reasonably large (size 8 or so) round brush.

It’s good paper, at 100% cotton for the price it can’t be beaten currently. Cost me 12 quid for 20 sheets, free delivery.
I saw that video too and was curious. At some point I would like to buy some100% cotton paper, but not spend too much!😀
