I too, achieved my 1st burnout in an RX8. However, now it's my turn to LS swap it. It's gonna be a long time because of the whole money thing, but as a fatty, I tell everyone I can walk farther than I can run. Love watching your vids!
Your K swap video really inspired me to due the same for my own project. (Originally a 4.6 mustang engine was my pick, but money.) I have a 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited ( or a 2012 Outback). Engine, water pump, gasket, basically Subie is what Subie does. So, I plan on taking the Honda K20z1 motor, attaching the clutch master adaptive plate to my "5EAT" AT (5 speed CVT transmission). On paper: Honda reliability with Subie AWD = fun daily/sleeper Hopefully my research, findings & money pays off.
+1 for side quests. Also I met up with Dakota yesterday to get my calipers for him and he might have spilled the beans to me on what’s next for the RS. I can’t wait to see it dude!
Starting the RS swap suggestion voting comment thread: My vote = VR6 (12v) because it will be unique, sporty, turbo friendly, AAAAAAnd the people that hate on non-Ej swaps do so because they covet the subi rumble buuuuuuut the VR6 is the Hans Zimmer of braaap. Plus they are dirt cheap and have heavy after-market support.
The VR6 is indeed one on the list of engines that I'd like to play with. They, the J series, maybe a VQ. Depends on the size though. Gotta squeeze it into the weird Subaru engine bay. However, I've already got a swap in progress for the RS. I'm taking a break from it to do the H6 Legacy swap right now, though. More on that here soon, I hope!
Thanks RUclips Algorithms! Never thoughts I'd type that in my life.., but anyways I'm VERY impressed by your videos. Each project always ignited the forever brain teasing question of, "What if"? Please keep moving forward and I look forward to seeing your future videos.
"so the good news is, this video will serve as sort of a state of the fleet update... the bad news is, it will probably be out of date by the time you watch it" man why am i so late to everything
Lol another great video on crap we deal with in project cars. Btw have you thought of the 4.2 chevy inline 6 to swap in something? I thought it would be a cool swap in a 1999-2004 mustang gt. Boosted to 500-600. They sound like a mean 2jz.
So I actually did some reading on these things after seeing your comment. Pretty cool units! The onlu thing is I don't know what I'd stuff one into. No subaru could fit this thing, nor could an rx8 probably. I'd have to find a cheaply available car to pop it into. For what it's worth, I haven't paid over 900 for a car in years lol
YES. I had an Envoy with one of those for a while, great little engines that are super underrated for swapping. They're so easy to get a hold of too, every junkyard in the US is full of rusted-out Envoys and Trailblazers with perfectly functional powertrains.
@@BlackthumbTV I think it'd be hard for me not to like it. Don't directly say it, just a hint that might help a tad. For subaru the only swaps I've seen are k series, j series, ls, or possibly a flat 6 (and one 458 engine but that hardly counts haha) Still awd I'm guessing/hoping? Trans is out in the clip in the video, just easier to mate to engine or 6 speed time?
@@BlackthumbTV okay you might be right that I might not really like it if it's what i think it is. I'll still definitely watch since it's unique though, definitely will be interesting to see And I'm going to take that as a no on the 6 speed comment then haha Does the drivetrain relate to another project you mentioned in the video? Would like to see more on that (complete?) project that you showed a clip of
I know my audience, which means I'm great at building things that conflicts with their interests 😈 I considered the electric go cart a failed project. The motors I used ended up having too little torque to do what I wanted, though the thing would go ~60mph which was terrifying. My fault for picking the wrong motors though. It was originally going to be the first thing I posted on this channel, but I just didn't like how to turned out. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point, and making a video about that could help motivate me. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
Can I assume that your brain is full of electrics and magician programing things?? Do they teach that is a school or something? That go cart looks awsome!
Haha, this is correct. Many of my projects involve a lot of different skills, programming and electronics included. I'm not quite sure what they teach in school, as I never went to college. I'm entirely self-taught!
Hey I just discovered your channel randomly and I’m so glad I did. You remind of another small channel car RUclipsr named aging wheels. I really look forward to watching more of your videos because they’re awesome. You mentioned you were gonna swap a different engine besides a k so I have a suggestion. You Ever heard of Saab? No? well that’s not necessarily important. But what is is one of there engines. The Saab b204l (or r and any other variant of it because it’s all the same) are known for being extremely strong and tunable engines. So much so in fact people have been able to get 500-600 hp ok stock internals! The engines are pretty cheap and the cars are even cheaper. It is a front wheel drive platform but I’m sure you can find an awd or rear wheel drive tranny that will fit. Please consider this because it’s my dream one day to get my b204 L in my 900 pushing that much. Happy tuning!
That's always an option, but I gotta consider my time and abilities when doing these builds or they'll never get done. If an engine doesn't good aftermarket support I'd have to spend a lot of time making my own parts, if I'm even able to.
@@BlackthumbTV I understand but you do you. Also I have a quick question for you. Recently I have joined the vaper car community aka the Subaru community and I’m having a some problems with my new car. I have a 2005 Saab 9-2x aero. It burns oil in and out of the cylinder. There also seems to be some oil contamination in the coolant system. Also in some gears at 4-5k rpms the entire car shakes violently until I take my foot of the gas and it stops. I’m pretty sure the oil contamination is from a head gasket which is obvious why that’s a problem. I think maybe the car shaking problem is from the turbo because it does leak a little oil. But idk I’ve never worked on a Subaru and obviously you have. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks
Please for the love of everything show us all the weird stuff you do, I love to see it and aspire to be able to do something like what you do someday
Keep up the content yo, just finished binge watching everything and everything is just great

We'll see if he follow through. He's already stealing parts off it for his Evo...

@Blackthumb yeah those chevy 2006+ 4.2 engines put out 292hp NA.

I'm a software developer, and my line of work has nothing to do with cars. This stuff is just a hobby for me. Thank you for your kind words!

30'x40'. A decent size, especially if I cleaned some stuff.
