Ujoint is a solid conversion. They book out 6-12 month so having it complete is a big plus.

You’re paying $25-30k markup on this rig without solar. I paid $26k for my 4x4 conversion through Ujoint on a similar bodied E450. I paid $17k for the RV in mint shape. I also added in $5k in Solar with inverter and battery banks for a grand total of $48k. And these Guys want $80 for just the rig and 4x4 setup.

I can't get over the 4x4 package on this Born free rig! The clearance is sweet. Every other rig just looks mediocre to me now. If wify request a trip for milk and eggs, she may not see me for a while lol.

The 80's called and wants its RV interior back!! But value is in that 4x4 on a low mileage vehicle!!! Saw some U Joint videos on 4x4 conversion and they do a top-notch job. I just bought a 2011 e450 and reached out to Ujoint about converting to 4x4. I'm in Florida so distance is a minor factor. A couple grand off for some new cabinets and flooring and this thing will be an attention getter.

However, I like the RB model better because of the dry bath in the back.

U-Joint did the 4x4 conversion, they did mine also its proper kit no monkey business with U-Joint, between the conversion and the lift kit and the bumpers etc I think the 30k quote is actually lower than it cost to do
I had the same model and it came with a Quigley 4x4 conversion. The ujoint kit is superior and it handles great.

Can’t say I’m a big fan of the kitchen but the rest of the van is a BIG Go. The. 4x4 aspect could do great things for a trip.

Yes. I love it except for not having a full size bed overhead but do like being able just climb right into the Driver's seat. Big plus with the 4 × 4 conversion just upgrade some things, like solar power would be hip.

@@ThisOldManTiger I am thinking Box Truck more and more...but make it a 4×4 with a crawl through or just small school bus is hip too! I lived van life out of my Windstar after two bad divorces...bigger head space from here on out...lol
@@ChroniclesofAlicha_Balaam I thought about buses, box trucks vans and other overlanding trucks, but what it comes down to is where you want to go and how accessible is it, what are the restrictions etc. this is a 5+ ton van. defiantly more with the mods. For me, off the beaten path is king for me. cant tell you the number of times, I wanted to go somewhere but it was either an extremely long hike or off-road which my current rides cannot make it. but we will see.

Good thing this rv has roll bars installed from the factory! It is way too top heavy when it is jacked way up like that. I love the born free’s but I think it would be better to not modify the chassis on them.
I guarantee this thing drives and handles much better than when it was a stock 2 wheel drive. Most of these rigs have suspension that is too weak for the weight of the vehicle. Ujoint weighs the vehicle front and rear and has the springs built to the weight of the rig. They also add heavy duty sway bars. I know from experience, I had my Chinook converted by Ujoint and the ride is tons better than stock.

Black looks cool but white color reflects the sun and you'll be a lot cooler inside: if you can not find a shade tree someplace

Can solar be added to a vehicle like this? If so, how many panels and batteries can be installed if you want the maximum?
hell yeah! you can add solar to anything. even a tesla, a minivan, a electric wheelchair, anything you can imagine. as long as you have the space for the proper stuff for it to function properly...you'de be very surprised on how good a system you can fit in that small of space.
I put 4 100 watt panels on my Chinook Baja, which is a similar vehicle

No, being a "Built for Two" they did not put seat belts in the rear.

I just don't understand why someone would spend so much money on an RV and not do proper upkeep/maintenance on it. Letting things drip or rust ruins resale value. Maybe that's why we don't deserve to have nice things. More money than brains.

It’s not a bad base vehicle but I would end up pretty much gutting it-with the exception of the overheads-and making A LOT of changes. Not worth the effort. I’m sure there’s someone out there who will aant it.

Super "cool" unit but having that V10 is a huge drawback. This thing will be lucky to average 8mpg on a good windless day. Be ready to spend a fortune on fuel cost if you plan to actually drive this thing around. Not to be negative or anything but that's just the reality of it. If it had the 7.3L diesel it would be a different story but alas it does not.

Custom vehicles never ever give you a return especially and old vehicle that's used that vehicle is still outdated for me so it's nice but not for me good luck

Why do all these viewings have to open every single cabinet, drawer, and closet? Everyone knows once you show one, every other one is exactly the same. We don’t need to see inside 6 cabinets and 5 drawers that all look exactly the same. A waste of both our times. Also the same for outside storage. We don’t need to see 4 or 5 empty storage lockers that all look exactly the same.
