    Congratulations and thank you for being such an amazing resource for the Sprinter View and Navion community. We will miss your focus on this platform, but are giving us a reason to consider the same rig if we upgrade. My boys are also growing, and I think we can get a couple more years out of the View but then we will also need to grow if we want to keep these adventures coming. And I want to keep them coming! :). Enjoy your new rig.

      Thank you. We are always looking for the next rig once we get addicted to this lifestyle. I keep telling my wife this is the last one, but she's caught onto my tactic lol. I do hope to do a good comparison to give others a resource for future considerations. We enjoyed every trip we had with the Winnebago View and miss the nimble size already.

    Nice choice, Dynamax is probably one of the few companies in Elkhart County Indiana that I'd be OK with buying one of their products. Remember, I was born and raised in Elkhart County and I know people who are involved in the RV industry there. Just sayin.

    Excellent choice! We downsized from a Winnebago short DP to an Isata 3 24FW and love the Sprinter but wish for an Xplorer package like your new Isata 5. Cheers!

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад +1

      I like the new I3 Freedom Edition. That seems to mimic an Xplorer package but maybe even better? Wished we could have stayed at about 30 ft but we had to go to the 33 ft to get everything we wanted.

    • @MSMaifield
      @MSMaifield Год назад +1

      I'm interested in the Freedom edition and a new floorplan to be released, but feel the same way about 30ft. We hesitated on the same Isata 5 Xplorer you bought at our dealer and it sold. Looking forward to your mods.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад

      @MSMaifield yes the size is definitely a concern. We will see how this 33 fter will compare in our travels. We plan on not towing anything for a while to see how it goes. Wished they had the 28ss with a full slide plan but no complaints so far.

    Very nice. We looked at the Isata 3 and quality, fit and finish, paint job were amazing. Floor plan was very limited and OCCC was a bummer. So we ended up going with a Winnebago View. Isata 5 would be too big for us...but amazing rig if you need that size.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад +1

      Thank you, Yes the Isata 5 is definitely much bigger and the big drawback compared to the View size. We had a 39 ft diesel pusher prior to the View, so hopefully the 33 ft Isata 5 will be a nice compromise. I wished we could have stayed within 30 ft but didn't find any floor plans that fit our needs at this time.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад

      LOL agree. Actual weight is 19,500 pounds and about 11 inch clearance. But still not any good for offroad. Mainly got it for snow driving, so the 4x4 is useful.

    That is a really cool looking rig!... But having owned something similar there's a problem with all the overhang behind the rear axel...Our rig scraped the pavement every time we went in or out of a driveway, even after I added an extra leaf to the rear springs to raise things up... Four wheel drive?... Should help with something...

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад

      Agree the rear overhang is the big weakness. It does have the better of the bunch though. I picked this wheelbase specifically because it had the least overhang. No problems on driveways on this. It's actually better than the Winnebago I had in the Sprinter chassis. There is a full overland kit from buckstop you can get but I don't offroad. I need the 4x4 for snow and sand.

    Congrats. Can you compare the driving experience of the Isata 5 to that of the Sprinter? I rented a Winnebago View last weekend for a trip down to Yosemite. The road noise was a lot louder than I expected and there were a few white knuckle moments during cross winds... lots of sway, both from the wind and the countersteering. I was originally in the market for a Sprinter, but am reconsidering. How is cabin noise/driveability of the Dynamax?

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад +5

      I need to post a video on the cab and chassis features stillin the future. The Ram chassis on the Dynamax is much quieter, smoother, and more stable than the Sprinter. It's not close. The stock sprinter chassis has terrible handling and needs many mods (even with the mods) the Ram handles better. You can check out my older videos and see all the different suspension mods I did. Sprinter cab noise is terrible. The Ram has options included already with dash and floor sound insulation so it's much quieter.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад +1

      Yes rear bed is terrible design and has to fold up. A Murphy bed design that turns into a couch would be better. At least 1 person could sleep on the couch with the slide in. Have to disagree on the front cab window. Those are the worst design. Looks good on video but impossible to heat and cool comfortably with that giant windshield window. The covers on them don't help much at all.

      @rvlifediy  Год назад +1

      Check Dynamax website. They have the MSRP's there and also has 2 other floorplans on the RAM. Huge discounts on MSRP now with the high interest rates. 28-30% off MSRP is doable with current economy. I've been getting about 10.5 mpg recently. First 5,000 miles I got about 9.5. The 5500 has a a wider track and better turning radius than the 3500 dually surprisingly, so it's very stable on the road. Northern lite is very nice, and sitting on a truck, you will have much better ground clearance for offroad compared to this. I like this set up because the tank sizes, storage, and cab access is great, and the interior is quite large. Pros and cons to them all.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  8 месяцев назад

      That's definitely not possible. Ideally the cab being removed from the chassis is the easiest for engine overhall on a 5500, but engine removal is still possible without the cab being removed. It just makes it much harder but still doable.
      Not the ideal situation but most RVs will pay the pain the butt tax.

    Why would a 4x4 sit so low to the ground. Almost all campers sit way to low to the ground. Its very noticeable when you see the drain nozzel for the dump tanks, if you go over a speed bump you may damage them.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  Год назад

      Yes it is definitely low. The good thing is there are lift kits and big wheel/tires available, but for a lot of money. This one doesn't have dump valves on the outside. It's inside a storage bay. I think you probably saw the exhaust tailpipe which is pretty low but hasn't been an issue. Biggest issue is the long overhand in the rear.

    Nice rig. However, what's the point in having 4x4 ability with it being low to the ground and the length? You are limited to areas you can go as well. Raise and shorten it and then you've git something. Plus prices are unreachable and ridiculous.
    Just my thoughts. Everyone be safe out there.

    • @rvlifediy
      @rvlifediy  8 месяцев назад

      I use the 4x4 for snow and sand. A lift would be nice and they have that option. As for shorter, there is other makes that have that option with better offroad capability. I think most people associate 4x4 for offroad trails. Besides the length, this thing is way too wide and tall for any trail. It works fine for standard maintained forest service dirt roads though and that works for me. An earthroamer would be a better choice for offroad but that is still way to tall and wide. I see most of them on the pavement. Any 5500 or F550 chassis has a much wider track than a standard truck so not the best for small trails.
