Cromefly might be one of the most destructive spinners in the competition, it turned a bot to scrap metal in a single hit....it was the wrong one, but that's just a small detail that needs ironing out.
Cap cromefly’s blade is one of the weakest blades. In the qualifier when crome qualifies IT LITERALLY LOST ONE OF IT BLADES IN A SINGLE HIT AND WON BY TAPPING EACH OTHER
It was also pointless. The first collision sent that blade straight through ChromeFly's insides which neatly shish-kebabed them. That bot wasn't gonna be moving after that. The flips were just theatrics.
Sometimes I wonder if these people even tested their bots before coming in. I mean, let's be honest, Bronco didn't do much in this fight. All it did was run into it and Chromefly self-destructed. I mean even Wrecks was better-built that that thing, and that makes me sad.
Spinners are notoriously unreliable, unstable, and unpredictable. They hit incredibly hard but damage themselves almost as often as they damage the enemy. We're starting to see more smaller and more stable spinners that go the distance though, so it seems they're capable of shaking that curse, but they need really solid design and construction. Bronco's team talked up how much work they'd put in to armoring their robot this year; I think it's important to give them credit for building something that could take Chrome Fly's hits until Chrome Fly came apart from the feedback.
Oh, I'm aware of how unstable spinners are, and I wasn't trying to take respect from Bronco. But I mean, Chromefly's upper covering just came straight off like it wasn't even bolted on. I understand that spinners break--I mean even the titans like Son of Whyachi and little Ziggo had problems occasionally and making the mechanism sturdy is difficult. But there's breaking mechanically and then there's the bot just straight up malfunctioning when the weapon is used. This would be like a hammerbot snapping its hammer off the first time it fires.
Am I the only one that notices every time a battlebot has two spinning blades they lose? Very badly, might I add! I remember last season a Battlebots competitor made a battlebot with two large vertical spinners (can't recall the name of this battlebot). The battlebot looked like a film projector or an upside down bicycle. It also lost very badly. At the end of the match it looked like it went through a garbage compactor. It went up against either Bronco or Tombstone I don't remember.
Jonathon Earl That was Counter-Revolution against Tombstone, and not only did it have two disks, but a hammer too. And yeah, the thing about having two (or more) weapons is that it takes weight and power away from other places where it's needed. A good bot typically has one weapon which is powerful itself, and then has armor and/or mobility for the rest of that weight. I can't think of a single bot with multiple weapons that did well--it's best to concentrate your power into a single devastating piece of equipment.
in the episode they said it was to try and prevent bronco from getting under it. Obviously that failed. Thats why its on the side, as for the top... Uh. Not sure lol
As a builder, Chromefly baffles me in every way. Has TWO lynch motors, and decides to direct drive the weapons off of them. Nearly 15 hp EACH, and he's running a heavy weapon bar off of what is at most an 8mm shaft. Thats about the size of my beetleweights weapon shaft, to give you an example. As if running the weapons directly off the drive motors wasn't enough, they don't even have any support, so Chromefly dissembles itself. Its basically RotatoR but worse. Can someone explain to me why Chromefly was accepted and not Max Velocity?
Appreciate the shout-out! Max Velocity was a similar design to Witch Doctor, Brutus, Biteforce, Deathroll, etc. but they all had better looks and/or gimmicks.
Throw a useless drone in next time, lol. The only type of drone I can think of that would actually be effective might be EMP, but that's prohibited. Looks like you guys aren't having any trouble getting into other robot fighting competitions.
Bronco looks so impressive this season. Still my favorite bot and drivers in the competition. They perfected the flipping arm with toro long ago and are still dominating.
SoW wasn't a traditional walker, it was a shufflebot. So it was always grounded. Which is way better than Wrecks who crawls like a zombie with no legs.
Hamsterwheel it's bad now. but still it's a good design that needs stronger materials for its blades so they don't come off with a sneeze. And maybe a separate power source for the blades so they don't cripple the bot if they come off.
gonna have to be careful of what I say here but bronco isnt that good. You can see the designs has a few flaws which could easily be exploited by a good machine
Agreed... definently. The moment I first saw bronco I thought, he's awesome and he's gonna win but he made it to the top four and got destroyed by tombstone... broncos still my favorite
I know right? Bronco only had to bump CF to do massive damage. I bet if I jumped on Chrome Fly I would destroy it it's so lucky it didn't face Yeti or Minotaur, it would've literally gotten ripped to pieces no wonder it's called Chrome *_Fly_*. It's the robot equivalent of a fly
Its not so much what its made of, but the thickness. Apparently the weapon shaft was thinner than whats used in 30lb robots (these are 250lb). Seems overall it was built by good designers who didnt really have a clue about engineering in the sport
Bronco: "But...I'm a flip-bot not a 'tear a robot to shreds' bot! This must be what it's like to be Tombstone!" This was hilarious. Imagine if Chrome Fly was up against a DPS build.
This seems to be the most obvious of the few weakness of horizontal spinners, despite being one of the most powerful and effective weapon options it becomes a double edge sword if the opposing bot doesn’t give. They don’t usually self destruct like this but even tome-stone has sent itself flying a few times.
No, Chromefly just has a really crappy weapon. Look at other spinner bots like Tombstone, Icewave, and Huge. Their spinners are these massive, solid blocks of metal that are extremely well-secured. Chromefly's spinners are not only way smaller, they also have huge holes along the length of them, so there's no mass behind them. And the arms holding tge spinners in place snapped from a single hit, where other spinners will get flung across the arena and still have the spinner working. Hell, Tombstone's blade has snapped in half from impacts that couldn't break tge support arms!
Bronco has an amazing team and one of the best drivers. You guys can give even the best battlebot teams a run for their money. Watching 200 pound bots get sent to orbit is so satisfying.

Sure, but the difference is that Slam Job had already won several fights in the tournament to get to that point, and I don't think anyone would argue that Nightmare rolling a 20 and critting him into next week makes Slam Job a shit robot. Chrome Fly is fundamentally an awful design that was built to get more publicity for the builder's new drone company. ABC and their rigorous selection process is supposed to weed out non-functional garbage like this.
I like how bronco stated their new wedge on the back worked out as intended. This was their solution to spinners instead of you know, wheel guards or something.
They tried wheel guards in the past. Tombstone ripped through them anyways. The best method to fight spinner bots is to either jam up the spinner before it starts or deflect it so the bot starts to ricochet around & self-destruct, both of which a wedge can accomplish.
@@YT-er3zx in the bounty hunter episode with Bronco, the show kept saying this could potentially be Bronco final career fight. And the team did say if they would ever return, they must make some major redesign. So still RIP Bronco

Bronco doesn't have the best flipper I've seen, but it's by no means the worst. It's also armoured pretty good, which I've come to expect from BattleBots, because of the number of spinners and drums. Now, Chrome Fly. Didn't get to see much of it, but the weapons are poorly thought up. There are examples of kinetic spinners out there that are more powerful and structurally sound.

I’d like to see chrome fly vs radioactive
tinfoil targetbot vs plastic targetbot
lol my bets on radio
Chrome fly would be better because what would Radioactive’s axe do? It drops so slow.
Hey did he have to also go for the drone
The '10 second count' took 14 seconds. 40% error seems pretty significant when your extremely expensive stuff is getting destroyed, a proper count might have saved the drone
Maybe dont build a garbage bot with a useless drone then?
@@Ssiøne Irrelevant to the point. A 10 second count should last 10 seconds
@@blacktimhoward4322 Drone was useless anyway, it took off and left whatever weapon it had on the floor, the weapon literally fell off... Wasn't even duct-taped on or anything... Actual trash.

I loved it when the drone was destroyed! (Drone Emoji)
This is great ❤️❤️❤️
Bronco, proving why it's the #2 seed.
can anyone please tell me what is that mechanism bronco is using which produces sparks and shatters chromefly
No mechanism really, when Chromefly's spinning blades touch Bronco they break and fly off, tearing apart Chromefly's own weak armor
It's just a fly . How long can it last ? 🤣
Yeah. . . They each broke after 1 hit on Bronco. Chromefly, you're not fighting a piece of aluminum foil.
Chrome Fly had its spinners attached to a very tiny shaft... That is why it broke... It was a poorly engineered bot, by a complete rookie.
strange, this guy is trying to start a company, poor design rumors and a knockout like this is not what he wants people to think when they hear about his company.
plus, another thing about your kinetic spinner comment, last season Icewave probably have done good against tombstone, but physics.
lol thats exactly what I thought
Nobody:
Bronco’s robotic team: What if we made a robot that just fucking yeets
I love the fact that Bronco can't flip the drone even though they OOTA'd Chrome Fly
Whats the point of the drone
That was fast. So, what was Chrome Fly built to do?
Why don't they equip the drone with a ball and chain?
What is the point of the drones? I've never seen one contribute in any way.
when you make your bot out of tin foil
0:32 either its just me or he looks like one of the members of dude perfect
Has que todos los otros videos se vean en argentina
Bronco was stuck on the drone at the end. If Chrome Fly hadn't been out of the arena, Bronco would have lost lol
No bronco would have just flipped off it easily the drone does nothing and chrome fly can’t do any damage
I'm pretty sure at least 1 wheel was on the ground and like he said above it would have just flipped itself off
What? What did the drone even do, it just flew around as it watched a broken robot self destruct
Bronco came from the same guys that created Toro and T Minus
Nobody here talking about the drone? What was it for?
Has a drone Ever done anything good?
