It's hard to find a weakness for jones. He's an all rounded fighter, great at everything. His grappling, movement and punches are all top tier. Granted stipe is a bit on the older side he is no slouch, jones makes all his opponents look like this. Dude is definitely the greatest UFC fighter of all time.
what's crazy are the people saying stipe at 42 is too old yet they want 37 year old jones to fight 31 Tom Aspinall. I swear haters make no sense. Alex Pereira just makes sense; same age, bigger hype, and better than Tom Aspinall. If the fans really want the fight then Alex and Tom should fight to determine who fights Jones; that's a fair solution for the fans.
@Tizztv They just want to see him lose at the end of the day We know what time it is the same thing with Floyd and many other fighters if jon jones would have lost against him everybody would have laughed and celebrated but because he beat him In this particular fashion that made the haters come out
Ages 31 and 37 are typical for still performing well in combat sports; 42 isn’t. The drop off every year once you hit you’re mid to late 30’s is drastic and it only gets worse every year. This fight made absolutely no sense, you have to be a casual or a Jones fanatic to think a 4 years retired, age 42, coming off of a brutal KO loss who hasn’t won a fight in nearly 5 years made any sense fighting the current defending champion. Nobody wants to see Jones grapple Pereira.
"Pereira better than Aspinall" is the most casual thing I've ever seen. Unless Aspinall suddenly forgets he can wrestle, he beats pereira 10/10 times. There's a reason Jones wants to fight Pereira so bad and won't even mention Aspinall's name. It wouldn't be competitive. Takedown, GnP or submission. Done
Brutal elbows, jabs, and hooks to the face and a rib crushing spinning heel kick. Helluva way to make a living. Stipe is a legend and that was a very hard earned payday 😣 🤕
it's clear that stipe's team thought that putting on weight would allow him to hurt jon with his power as well as endure jon's attacks (unlike vs ngannou, where they wanted him slimmer to try to avoid ngannou and control the range). hilariously, that plan would've been better against ngannou, and his plan against ngannou would've worked better against jon. teams are almost as important as fighters, jon's team has been underrated for years, he's always incredibly prepared for his opponents
Yes very true. But part of it has to do with the fighter's IQ and dedication as well, remember Jones and Holly Holm have the same team but different levels of success (although both are champions).
@@xavierb9061 hey genius, go look up what stipe weighed against dc (a much better wrestler than stipe) in their 2nd and 3rd fights vs what he weighed in their first matchup. i love you casuals

@ building hype shouldn’t include ruining the prime years of someone’s career, ruining the heavyweight division, and using a old retired goat as a sacrifice.
Jones always makes his opponents look worse than they actually are. He freezes them. He did the same thing to Gane. He makes it look so easy you think there must be something wrong with his opponent. Look at his previous wins as well, his most dominant ones, they’re all like this. I learned this a long time ago: you never bet against Jon Jones, no matter who he’s fighting. After he beats Tom, his haters will scramble to try and fine the next guy he “needs to fight” just so they can see him get beaten. Jon just doesn’t lose

Is he the GOAT at LWH? Absolutely, but he might not even be 5th in the pfp GOAT list until he does more in HW. He has yet to face a true number one contender at HW. He also refused to fight DC at heavyweight despite them fighting MULTIPLE times. Hasn't fought Francis, and is tip toeing around Tom. Aspinall would KO and expose this bum.
Listened to his interviews to study his mindset this was the first time I watched him fight (not big in ufc more so boxing) he’s a tactician and he mentally takes himself somewhere days or weeks before the fight that gives him a psychological advantage
Maybe where he went mentally he had to fight 10 of those Guys all by himself so when he came back to the Reality it was just a breeze only to fight one.
Dude Jon Aniks ability to put a cap on a finish is just brilliant . “How good is Jonny Bones , how good ?!” He consistently has some of the best calls in all of sports

Jon jones is inevitable. Yes everyone thought he was going to win this fight but it’s still impressive how flawlessly he did it. His next fight needs to be against aspinall. No one else

Ducked ngganou, ducking Aspinall...lost to reyes and gustaffson, was losing against Alves until alves injured his knee and still struggled and was getting his ass beat in standup against alves...Jones just cherry picks fights and fought most his career with a huge size advantage and everytime he fought someone his size who put pressure on him he got his ass beat. Stipe moved like a 70-year-old. Very impressive.
Watching the slow motion replay, you can see the divot that jon’s heel left in Stipe’s side, that was brutal!
what's crazy are the people saying stipe at 42 is too old yet they want 37 year old jones to fight 31 Tom Aspinall.
Done

You don’t know Stipe.
it's clear that stipe's team thought that putting on weight would allow him to hurt jon with his power as well as endure jon's attacks (unlike vs ngannou, where they wanted him slimmer to try to avoid ngannou and control the range). hilariously, that plan would've been better against ngannou, and his plan against ngannou would've worked better against jon. teams are almost as important as fighters, jon's team has been underrated for years, he's always incredibly prepared for his opponents
So true and people underestimate that part of the game.
Yeah being lighter gainst better wrestler is great idea. Lol u figured it out.
Yes very true. But part of it has to do with the fighter's IQ and dedication as well, remember Jones and Holly Holm have the same team but different levels of success (although both are champions).

He is a double champ with multiple title defenses. Lead in the history in title defenses. Basically undefeated. Congrat to Jon Jones.
He didn't fight a single guy in their prime except Reyes, and Jon lost.
ignorant comment, u are uninformed and havent followed his career. He fought with a massive size advantage on PED's most his career, lost to gustaffson, reyes who were his size and pressured him, was losing and would've lost to Alves had he not tore his knee, was still struggling against a one legged fighter....ducked cormier at HW admitting it was not a good fight for him and he'd probably lose, struggled against cormier squeezing out a decision when he had a massive size, age and athletic advantage over him, ducked ngganou until he left then returned to cherry pick a fight against Gane, ducking Tom Aspinall actively running scared speaking scared in every interview...he's not our GOAT, he doesnt have the heart of a champion or put it on the line against the best in their prime...he's a cheat who got gifts from judges cherry picks fights and ducks fighters and fought in a division with a massive size advantage on PED's his whole career
The Stipe fight is for the fans, but no one thought an ancient fighter 5 years past his prime had a chance.
