My thoughts exactly. I’m a southern girl who lived in RI for several years, and “weather shock” is real. I couldn’t believe how LONG the winter was, it was cold from late September thru April. And I mean, 5 degrees, 2 feet of snow cold. They are much better at clearing the roads, so you can still get around, if you can stand to leave your house. The cold literally takes your breath away when you first step out. My son was a baby, and a trip to the store involved a full on snow suit, lol. It’s fun for a week or two, but I much prefer 70 degrees in January, not 7. And it’s dark at 4:30, so little sun, everything’s dead outside. Not a fan.
Me too. I've lived in Texas ,Oklahoma and calif. I like Calif best. We have plenty of fruit ,veggies milk products ,poultry and beef. Free breakfast for kids in need. Lunches provided in the summer. Splash free centers for kids and small pools. Our schools are taught no bully . This state has more nice hardworking people. Leave here ? WHY?
In the olden days, people would always move from place to place, to improve their situations. I think it’s wise. As a young person, i lived in several states, following work.
Just hope they leave their "crazy" behind them and adopt some common sense. Vermont I hope this trend is a good one for you all and that there are no problems from newcomers trying to take over and change ya'll and your ways and values to be like where they came from.
I have 2 tractors with snowblowers, i grew up here in the north, traveled the world and lived in the south for over a decade and moved home after finishing my education and bought a country place near where i used to hunt as a kid. But im surrounded by Trumptards who burn trash for fun every day so it smells like actual shithole countries ive lived in and burned trash in, but they have 6 classic cars in garages but can't afford 25 bucks for the trash truck to stop ?
I thought about retiring in Vermont but my father-in-law, who lived all his life in upstate NY then retired in Central FL, thought I was nuts. He always warned me that cold weather is not for old people. I am now 67, living near the equator and anything below 70 degrees F gives me chills. Glad I listened to him.

@Ambiguously Ambiguous Oh I'm sure they did but Mr C is not entirely wrong, if you never grew up experiencing the amount of snow that can drop on you in the East or North of our country it can 'sour' you on living in those climates. I'm originally from the East Coast and when I was young I loved the snow but as you get older, depending on where you live, it can wear on you. Which is way the 'Elderly' move SOUTH (Florida) to retire. I think it's a fair point to make...
Or drive in the breakdown lane. I saw that the first time the other day. I'm like what the hell is this guy doing? I tried to keep as far ahead of him as I could. I figured he'd realize it wasn't a lane when it suddenly disappeared and he was in the brook.
"we needed to cross the country to go somewhere safer" I'm sure your new neighbors appreciate it! I'm sure they felt safe before people started flocking into one of 2 states without rising cases. I live in MA & when things were bad back in April, idiots from NY, PA, CT were flocking here. Can you guess how that affected us? No food in our stores, outta state plates everywhere, hotels packed. It's not very considerate of others especially when they ignore quarantine when they arrive!
Same here in Maine. We saw all kinds of people coming here and not quarantining when they got here. We used to have a very limited number of cases here. For three straight days we had the highest infection rate in the country. And they want to tell this story like it's a heartwarming piece.
There is a lot of people in tech making 6 figures moving to smaller cheaper states. I don't blame them. I'm in CT and plan to stay as I enter the industry.
I did just that and it was the best move I've ever made. Whatever you feel you may loose pails in comparison to the SANITY you gain. My experience has taught me that living in the country where the stores close early and the streets are quiet at night, allows you to relax, visit neighbors, feel, breath and actually live. Most important of all - people here do not live under the kind of stress that metropolitan living brings, and this gives us the ability to be kinder to one another, to have time to help where needed and to smile and feel at peace. I thank God every day for leading me here. I pray for our beloved America everyday and never stop believing that we can survive anything when we pull together. Imagine that: People being free and welcome to move across borders to unfamiliar lands to improve their lives, motivated by dissatisfaction with the place where they had been settled with regards to safety, health, education, jobs, etc. People moving in to a community actually add to the economy, while a population decline correlates to a shrinking economy.
See how they like it in February...as a person who lived in new england 33 yrs....its tough when every moment in the winter is spent trying to stay warm tires freeze to the ground....black ice so deadly you cant drive on it....but have to....shoveling tons of snow....driving in blizzards.... Heating bills through the roof.... Leaving for work an hour early to blaze a trail through the snow. Cos the locals dont want hear you cant make it to work on time. It takes years to learn how to drive safely in the snow. You will freeze from october to april.have fun😁
For me, 40 years of installing 4 winter tires in the fall, removing in spring. And this in CT, just 50 miles north on NYC. You can drive on ice with these tires, if you go very slow. Too much road salt now, causes the cars to rot out and brake lines to rupture. At least the heating oil is more reasonable these last two years, but in the future it will go back up in price, there is only so much distillate (25% total, half of this kerosene) in a barrel of oil. The city folk are flocking to this area now, tired of leaving their multi-million dollar apartments to be accosted in the streets of NYC, or being exposed to Covid-19.
@@nickhiscock8948 One of the reasons for rural flight is because high paying jobs are rare in those areas. So yes, they could change jobs. But for a local area to thrive, the community really needs to create/provide jobs.

In Skagit Co, WA, property taxes just doubled for 2021 for many average, in need of major repairs, homes on forested land. Mine went from $160k value to $326k value! In 3 years? WTF?!? What a way to price the lower income lucky homeowners back out of the market!

@Gary Sutphin Did that really sound like "bragging" to you? To me, it sounded like he was complaining. He has a moderately priced home--and because they decided to value it as double what it's really worth--he's stuck with having his property taxes doubled. He's pointing out the dirty tricks the tax assessors office uses, to get a lot more money out of people. $160 K home is a modest home these days, nothing to brag about--it's not a mansion by any means--except maybe to someone who lives in a tent!

The new persons which came to VT need to learn to slow down on our roads, especially the back roads they're dirt. And when you're in the grocery store leave the family at home. And in Vermont you don't judge someone by the way they dress. We don't just let our dogs run loose either when we take them for walks we have them on leashes.
And no mention in this video about the locals who’ve lived here their whole lives who are being displaced. As a prospective first time home buyer right next door in NH this trend may cause us to have to move away from family and friends where we have lived our whole lives. Every other young person I know who was preparing to buy a house this year or next is absolutely ruined as small 250k starter homes became 450-500k homes seemingly overnight. Every open house we go to there is a line of out of state license plates and people who just sold a condo in their city for a million dollars who have seemingly infinite money to spend with a WFH big city salary ready to crush your meager offer based on pre-covid budgets and comps. Often times sight unseen from across the country, no inspections required, cash only etc etc. We lost out on dozens of houses this year to out of state bidders one after another who think it is “cheap” to live here and go 50-100k over asking regularly, and just completely destroyed a generation of locals chances of remaining near their “home”. The locals are stunned as housing values increase 10-20k a month while these covid refugees pour money into the pockets of soon to be retirees who are cashing out and heading for the hills. Reverse gentrification to the suburbs but instead of slowly being pushed out of town they basically moved their housing crisis from the big cities and the west coast to small suburbs and rural areas overnight.... sad to see.
I left CT to stay in Virginia with my mom but I couldn’t afford to live in two places at once...so I went back and got my stuff, terminated my lease, and stayed in rural VA.
Yeah Vermonters are so happy to have all these new folks helping us get our covid numbers up. Raising the price of real estate so that locals can no longer afford to buy homes is just a happy side affect. A year before the pandemic I moved from central Florida to a small rural town in S.C. I was fed up with all the traffic, over development and noise and after living off and on in Florida my entire life I had enough. Not ever having been to the town I now live in I researched the area, found out that it is a very old and historical town with a small population. I sold my house in Florida, bought my house here in S.C. and me and my two dogs are very happy here. The entire county is surrounded with woods, my neighborhood is on a ridge with deer and other wildlife wandering around in the early morning hours. The only people I know here are my next door neighbors and the realtor who sold me my house. When this pandemic hit I was so relieved that I got out of Florida when I did. Sure there have been Covid cases here and I don't think there are any towns that don't have any but I only leave my house once a week to go to the grocery store. I wear a mask, a face shield and gloves, get my items and leave. I am there when the store first opens. I keep to myself and never socialize with anyone except my neighbors at a distance. I have a feeling that if I had stayed in Florida I would be dead by now. So many Covid cases, so many places for people to gather, so many people who don't wear masks and so many people who think the virus is fake. In the town I live in now there are no bars, no pubs, a couple of restaurants that I don't even know if they are still open or not. No places for people to gather other than their own homes. I don't blame anyone for moving to the country. It's the place to be even if there wasn't a pandemic.

Reverse gentrification to the suburbs but instead of slowly being pushed out of town they basically moved their housing crisis from the big cities and the west coast to small suburbs and rural areas overnight.... sad to see.
Millions? I need proof of that
A free and fair election. I need proof of that.

@@drizzle4009 wow still using loser as an insult huh.
@@burhanmohamed7233 I'm a bot and can only do canned entries. Beep-boop.
I left CT to stay in Virginia with my mom but I couldn’t afford to live in two places at once...so I went back and got my stuff, terminated my lease, and stayed in rural VA.
Having good income (especially Remote Work) , low rent, in a small town with high speed internet...
Pretty much everyone wants that now.
NOTHING beats a state with a nice seasonal change I miss that
Yeah Vermonters are so happy to have all these new folks helping us get our covid numbers up. Raising the price of real estate so that locals can no longer afford to buy homes is just a happy side affect. We also love the way you do 80mph in 40mph zones and perpetually stay in the left lane on the highway. You're all so smart and sophisticated. 🤗
Same here in Arizona
If this is all about people moving to Vermont from other states, look at how many out-of-staters there are in the Carolinas!
Hope they don't come to Ga. No room
Extremely pleased to see these liberals moving to another liberal state instead of poisoning a state like Texas!!!
No one asked
Texas was already poisoned. They still don't know how badly after Harvey blew all that stuff into the air and water.
I can't blame anyone for leaving California.
Why don't you leave also? Please!
In the past I had to go to l.a. area twice a year. I HATED it! The smog, the freeways, graffiti, high crime, gang problems, constant fires and mudslides. You couldn't have paid me enough to live there. I see why people are leaving the state in droves! But, for Gods sake, leave your economics in california, don't bring it with you 😨😨😨😨😨
@@rosykatzCATS Stay , dont ever leave..please
@@whodatnation4579 you got all that from a visit? California is an entire VIBE. Show me anywhere else where you can go to the snow, desert and beach in the same day!! A place that has mountains, rivers, oceans, valleys etc. within miles of each other. I'm born and raised in S.Cali, moved to Houston and can now appreciate the beauty of California because Houston has absolutely NO scenery, nightlife, oceans....
Don't come to Ga
I spoke today with a nurse from one of the hospitals in Orlando FL. She told me that the virus exists but is not as big as corrupted media say. Her hospital was more then ready with extra rooms to help with Covid. Never needed. And second wave was less intense then first. So that is for Florida I don't comment about other states. God bless real Americans.
This has been happening before covid-19 people have been leaving democrat run areas due to high taxes and living expenses
I'm planning on moving, just need lots of money to move... It's expensive. I'm worried about finding a rental when get there. It won't be Vermont though...
YES, I will make a house exist and you must move there. If you don't then soon all the new houses on earth will be planned by me and you will move to one either way.
If you need a rental don’t come to Florida unless your credit is literally flawless.
If you're a liberal stay in a large city. That is your dream utopia.
Go to FL. Super cheap housing and it's everywhere.
@@inkpearls3364 FL not of interest.
I left Southern California 25 years ago. Riots, taxes, gun control laws, criminals ruling the streets, no right to protect yourself or property..what took them so long to figure it out?
Do you think the chaos in cities could have anything to do with people fleeing to safer places?
I moved from the north carolina beach to the mountains, I HATE IT HERE SAVE ME FROM THIS SNOW.
Hey I'm from Western NY! Good luck on your journey!
More like most are relocating because the restrictions are immoral.
I’ve lived and seen all other states in US and I’m not impressed...I will continue to live in beautiful and diverse San Diego it’s by far the best city in US.
^^^^^^^ same im from new england and literally am so tired of the 4 seasons and snow. been to vermont and all other new england states, traveled midwest and other states, lived in miami and now living in SD and nothing quite like here. by faaaaar the best city here in USA. people who can have money should go and see but vermont aint the place.
I move from Illinois to California...the only regret......not doing it when sooner....San Diego weather is paradise
Keep your Cali thinking to yourself. Stop messing up other states
Hence the sudden lack of available property for sale. They saw you coming.
Ppl are moving to Homestead FL, It's incredible the environment and weather here. Feels like Caribbean weather. New jobs are opening since lot of tech companies are moving due to low taxes. Amazon already bought some land around and houses are super affordable and beautiful. The only problem it's hard to find a single house since it's mostly about townhouses. There are some ones but they were built in the 80s but still good nice houses and condos with pools, etc. Good luck.
That's true. We live in a nice 3/2 condo. ppl do exercising a lot around, everything is at hand. It's a fasting growing city. We are at 20 miles from Miami Beach.
but be prepared to learn some Spanish also lol
@@elamigoqueescucha8265 No really. Been in town for some years and I've never had a problem. Most ppl talks in English here.
Yes, I have family living there. It used to be dead town even tho. I'm surprised by the huge development in a short period of time even tho.
who tf CARES...GOOD FOR THE PRIVILEDGED...
@Essential Cheeks why would you put a picture of a saggy butt with cellulite....nothing essential about that.
The endless taxes and laws wasn't enough to leave California??
Must be nice for the middle class workforce who can work from home when the majority workforce cannot....
Vermont will be the next tech boom state then
Any coastal state always gets discovered by techies who lesve their srea cause its to crowded and costly and over run with homeless people. And a bunch of them will move to a new state set up shop. Theyll bring their companies there or start new ones which will cause home prices to rise an area to get too crowded and eventually become overrun with homelessness at which point they pick up shop do it to somewhere else. It's always coastal towns are taking them over one by one
Eventually all coastal towns are going to go up as people discover them and realize how much nicer they are all wealthy people that feel they can work remote or going to go set up shop there that's what happened in Washington state we used to have affordable houses everywhere even in the city but especially outside now all the houses everywhere astronomically high it's hard for anyone in the working-class do you even dream about affording a house out here even small little to bedroom Ramblers they're no longer called starter homes now they're called cute or like cottage style and they still cost for to 500,000 if you're lucky
Hot dang. Vermont is now a coastal state?
Wish I could afford to pick up an move!! I would get an rv and just hit the road 😁
