Many thanks Dougal (and to your assistant) for another delectable slice of UK life!
What a fantastic video and a great idea for a day out beautiful scenery and the railway is something else. Thanks for sharing.
Thank YOU for your kind comment :)
More please.......that was superb, absolutely superb!
What a fantastic video. That walk looked amazing and you certainly got the weather. It was funny as we watched you at the styles and said we would struggle with Fudge over them and then you said about a German Shepherd 🐕 🐶 and we then chuckled. 👍👍
Snap! We have two now.
Lovely film, thanks for taking us with you. Beautiful bit of countryside there 😊
Watching from far away (Australia!) , I am very envious of your dog......well and you too, for being able to enjoy such a lovely part of the world....thanks for posting
The little bird at the beginning was delightful. Thanks to you and Dougal for stopping to show us all of the Spring flowers! Your trip looked great (except for the portion with the OTHER noisy dog and children). Dougal is a born traveler, isn't he? He always looks so interested and eager to forge ahead and discover what's there. I think he is smiling in his own way. I love the way he wraps his arm around your neck when you hold him. Thank you so much for sharing all of your beautiful trips with us!!!!
Thanks Jo Ann. Yes, he really is the best doggo!
Enjoyed the 'extra' bit you tacked on to the train ride. Imagine how we would be huffing & puffing at 65; if we were to have walked along with you! Thanks for another great video. . .you have quite the life; not to mention a fabulous companion to share your travels!
Gorgeous! Thank you for the ride and scenery👍🏻💖
I enjoyed that wander with you
Thank you for taking us along. Never been on that small railway.
Hi Andrew
Great vlog as par usual!
Brought back many happy childhood memories for me , as I know the area well. In the late sixties and early seventies my parents had a static caravan on the Welsh coast between Aberystwth and Aberaeron ( Llanon) , which started my love of caravanning and all things about the pastime ever since. I particularly love Devils Bridge and the drive from there to Rhayader via the Elan Vally which I think is one of the best roads in Wales that being the route we used to take to get home to the Black Country.
Excellent and more of the same please ! All the best to you and Dougal
Jon
Cheers Jon! Definitely a future theme for the channel I think :)
A lovely chilled out video. 😊
Superb... Enjoyed the walk and train ride...more please.
Excellent and very relaxing video. I’m not that old but I do just about remember steam trains running every day. Life seemed simpler then!
Just have to say ......More of the same and more Wales 🏴🏴🏴
Cheers Graeme! Time is short on this trip so a return visit is definitely on the cards.
Brilliant Andrew and Dougallllllll , thoroughly enjoyed that trip , what a lovely day out , well done you giving your support , the stream train was wonderful and the views stunning , loved the splurge nothing says springtime more than its lime green leaves , unsure of the little pink flower , was it a saxifrage , the falls were lovely in full flow , imagine being there to see the salmon leaping , great you saw the dolphins though , such a treat , that young guardsman looked so stylish in his waistcoat and gold chains , pocket watch and cap , bet you would suit a nice vintage Harris Tweed waistcoat and cap , go well with your deniums and leather pants !! and as for Dougallllllll with his paw around your neck , toooooo cute !!
I think that may have been wild geranium Linda ? looking at the leaves ? :D
Superb video Andrew, GWR loco looks in mint condition, Dougal looks very contented. Can’t have too many trains 🚂😃🐾
Happy Easter Andrew! Thank you for the lovely video you have given us today. Beautiful scenery, I like when you focus small things, we are surrounded by wonderful little things but we never stop and pay attention to them. You haven't managed to make Dougal smile (yet) but today you managed to make him look at the camera!
I think Dougal did enjoy... saw a smile on his face at one point lol ;))
Defo more like this Andrew thank you.
Looks like a good ride just about the right amount of people around.what great walk well done for supporting them that's what it's all about
Well we have been in BC for a couple of weeks and enjoying it there, but you have been busy as well! Thanks for taking us along and right nice of you to do this as it was with Vale to come to the National Caravan Event! Lovely all the way, and took me a moment to figure out the Engine was Hydro Carbon fired......
Loved that walk and the railway, cheers!
Douglas had a great time. Of course he just likes to command the camera. I love it how he wriggles his eyebrows.
Enjoy life. Thats what its all about.😁👍
Yes, it's another day out on a steam railway! Sorry not sorry :)
Choo choo trains are great 😜😊😉🕊💜
Our video this week includes a steam train for a bit of the video. Not out till the end of the week thoguh.
Lovely video. Your loving treatment and relationship with Dougal is healing and heart warming to us all, as are the lovely things you show us! And the lovely information in your descriptions is wonderful! Beautiful Wales and train stations! Thanks, Andrew! 😀
Love it
Good to see you again!
Great to watch thank you Andrew. Lots of excellent walks from the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways to the North. Give them a go.
Cheers Neil. Time is getting scarce on this trip as I have to return the Airstream, but I might come back next year and do a proper 'rail tour' series of Wales...
More of these would be great. Looks like a good place to visit.
Thanks Paula! I shall do my best.
Great views .wales a beautiful country very nice Andrew.
Beautiful countryside, gorgeous train ride. Regards AJ
Cheers AJ!
I more than rather liked the video. I loved it. The area photography was, as usual, beautiful and the 'Prince of Wales' tank engine was in such a high state of polish that even the brass was bright. Given that the cars were open and you took a hike, you were lucky to avoid the Welsh liquid sunshine. I love trains and I really do hope you continue to take the occasional ride.
Thank you! Yes, Wales is on the 'repeat visit' list!
Hi Andrew, The early locomotive technology was indeed an English triumph, propelling England into the 19th century as a dominant world power.
Britain is truely blessed with landscapes from a time gone by, a time capsule!
Jesus Andrew you have to get in better physical condition, & I say that with all well meaning intended!
Dougal & Andrew on the train; these vintage train day trips are totally charming, one can leave the turmoil of 2019 behind & at a slow ckick a de clack roll back in time to Dickens's England!
God bless us, everyone!
😘
Indeed Bob, I really need to get fitter! Too much time sat in front of the computer... :-/
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing.
Lovely vlog & great to journey with you & Dougal on another train. Fabulous countryside made especially perfect with the beautiful day. Bet Dougal sleeps well after that 😉Many thanks. 🐶
Thanks Lynda!
Once again another great Vlog thanks Andrew and Dougal! I did that trip many years ago and am definitely inspired to head back and stop off en route to do that walk too. It’s been too long and I’d forgotten how beautiful and scenic that route was. Just returned from the Highlands where we went on the northern most heritage line from Dufftown to Keith. More vlogs like this would be awesome 👍🏻
Cheers Adrian! Nice to see so many steam fans out there :)
Lovely journey Andrew :))) keep fit :)))
Well filmed, well edited, excellent
Thank you!
Excellent Andrew. Particularly enjoyed the sound of a dog barking as the train went along, great atmosphere, excitement for all it seems! More dogs and trains always welcome.
This is a fab video. Nice weather, steam trains, small dogs, it's got everything (except for Deanna Durbin obviously) !
Just been catching up on some of your uploads Andrew. What a stunning walk and a beautiful railway - I need to get back over to Wales again.
Cheers Lewis! I seem to be sneaking more and more railway content into the channel - and folks seem to like it! There 'might' even be a wee running session at the end of tomorrow's upload ;@) Anyway, as flattered as I am, what are you doing watching videos? You should be making films of your Bachmann 4MT growling around your layout for me to oggle at! ;@) Cheers!
Love Steam trains, especially narrow gauge. Great reminder of family holidays 45 years ago and my Dad's(RIP) infectious Love of the Great Little Trains of Walse. We went on all of them during one holiday or another. Lovely memories and good to see it is still going strong.
Looks fantastic! Never been to that part of the world! 🤔
Just a lovely video.
Thank you!
Cwm Rheidol! So many memories of days out on that little train. Diolch yn fawr!
Fy mhleser i!
Nice vid, lovely country.
OMG, Dougal is smiling
A great walk & train ride. Yes l would like to see more 😊
Excellent! So pleased to see so much support for more :)
@@andrewjditton 😊👍🏼
Douglas is HAPPY! That makes it a wonderful day indeed! Great video!
Thanks Erin!
Thanks for taking us along with you on this steam train ride and walk . It is always great to see you and little Dougal enjoying yourselves atb :D Teddy
Keep them coming, I know and love that area well and it was great to watch it from home. Thanks
Beautiful country side! Nice of you to support those who support your interests!
Wonderful video. Loved Dougal playing with his stick.
Really very nice train ride with you and Mr. Dougal
Awesome trail walk and weather was very nice.
As usual your videos are amazing and looking forward to your next adventure
Thank you for sharing and I hope y’all had a nice Easter
Ciao
Great vid - thanks Andrew. Thinking of doing West Wales in my ancient VW in September so will definitely put this area - which I don't know at all - on the potential itinerary. Trust you and Mr D enjoyed the stonking weather over the Easter long weekend
Cheers Martin! So much to do here...
The devils bridge / aber line is beautiful. We went there a year or so ago.
Looked like a great day out with Dougal. Thanks for sharing it with us 😎.
Cheers Mr C!
Thank you for sharing all your exciting adventures 🚈
Thank you for joining us!
Thanks Andrew, you really took me down memory lane. I did that walk from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge in the late 1970's when I was at college in Aberystwyth. you really reminded me of those days ... thanks again
Lovely vlog of Wales countryside. New subscriber to encourage more walk vlogs. Thanks.
Cheers Mark!
Absolutely beautiful scenery ❤️ it’s definitely our kind of walk, especially as it involves steam as well. On our hit list. I’d love to see you do more of these videos 👍🏻❤️
Awesome shots of the countryside by the stream and the chuff chuffs!
Took me back to when I worked in the area.
I was just thinking "how would I do that with a German Shepherd" and you said it! LOL
Lovely vlog and such beautiful countryside. We live near Manchester so North and Mid Wales are only an hour and a half away so we feel lucky. Technical note - the brightness and contrast on your videos is spot on, it comes across on youtube as exceptionally clear but also very realistic colour balance and contrast , whether its your camera or your choice of settings in post production - DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING lol its set to brilliant.
Thanks Ed... I think the colours are more by luck than judgement :) The Welsh sunshine helps I'm sure!
Loved it! Nice to see a pleasant look on both your faces!!
Hello from Canada. I very much enjoy your posts. Very professionally done with lots of human interest. Love the trains.
Thank you!
Great video as ever Andrew, love to see more like this 👍🏻
I think it is becoming time for my wife and me to take our Sprite Alpine Sport caravan (continental version) to go to the United Kingdom.... if we still are welcome regarding the Brexit... 🙈 We have been to Britain many times, but not since we own de Sprite caravan and since we retired and have a lot of time to visit all those beautiful places you show us....!!
British politics is a shambles but the people are still as friendly as ever. Welcome!
I saw the Vale of Rheidol locos back in the early 60s one was in pristine BR black lined livery with jam and custard coaches
Would love to have seen that!
Lovely video Andrew. We are going in that area in September so you have given us an idea for a day out. Keep these coming as we love steam railways!
greta video as always andrew, whats not to like about a steam train
Dougal is a lucky dog😊
Hi Andrew beautiful film, my Grandad was Welsh so spent a lot of time there when l was young. Wish he had taught me to speak Welsh but wasn't encouraged much. They had banned it in schools for years
That's so sad. Same with Gaelic. Although it seems that Welsh has been more resilient and is now far better protected by law than Gàidhlig.
Andrew Ditton Think they felt guilty, Grandad told us they would get the cane for speaking Welsh at school. 😢
Keep it going Andrew it looks beautiful great work and fantastic railway. Cheers
Thanks Michael!
Spectacular scenery! Happy Easter Andrew!
More railway content would be super
Cheers Peter, glad to hear it!
Nice!
Very cute, but I do prefer big ones. @1:17 Dougal's expression is priceless! @12:35 welcome to my life, but with a greyhound! Great vlog, Andrew.
Another inspirational video, Andrew. Your travelogues are always a pleasure to watch. I have been following your videos for a while and now I have bitten the bullet, sold my house and am now full time travelling, not with a dog, but a cat. She seems to have really taken to the lifestyle. Currently in Austria but planning to go on to Finland. Keep up the good work!
Wow, Australia to Finland is quite the trip!
There are no kangaroos in AUSTRIA !!!@@andrewjditton
Beautiful. Loved it all. Be careful Andrew not to misstep off the side of the mountains while video making. 😉😉😊💜
You are so lucky.
Well I thought it was you at the caravan site but wasn't sure, we were pitched behind you with the Adria, we did the train on Monday, very scenic but if you haven't done it already you must do the Welsh Highland railway, no comparison!
Love Shawsmead site - so much to do. Near my Mum’s home too. Beautiful area, although I’m biased! Lovely vid as always Andrew.
Cheers Simon!
Really enjoyed it Andrew, thanks for sharing :) Bet you had some nice endorphins by the end.
Happy Easter, we are preparing our Adria Action for a trip to Glen Innes to attend the Celtic Festival. One of the highlights for me will be a concert by Mànran. We only get to the Outer Hebrides via your videos, thank you, but this will be a close 2nd.
Really enjoyed that video. Definitely going to go on that railway when we stay at Shawsmead. Wonder if you saw Hub Nut's recent video "Behind The Steams At The Vale of Rheidol Railway"?
I didn't Bob, will look out for it cheers!
Just watching the Hub Nut channel - “TWC’s Grand Day Out” and I believe you make an entrance @ 4:54!
@Miles Glover. Yeah, right at 4:54 I'm pretty sure that was Andrew's silver truck and Airsteam that passed the tiny white truck, coming from the opposite direction. That's amazing! 😀
Yes I saw that too. Made me smile.
Yes, there's no hiding, is there?! :)
Da iawn ar siarad ychydig o gymraeg cariad. 👍👍
Diolch yn fawr iawn!
There is a line out of a Small Faces song that goes "I want to rest my eyes in shades of green" ...Apt me thinks.
more please
👍👍🙌
The train's engineers take meticulous care of those steam engines. The steam engine and cars are in pristine condition. Dougal is a model train passenger.
Looking good! It is funny to see the contrast in Dougall from when he never smiles to seeing him get all excited with a stick! That loco looks really old. Do you know the year? The whole train was beautifully presented.
2:33 - back in time by train.
Nice to see you back on track with your blogs and not going off the rails. Who was driving, Casey JONES?
Oh my, more puns than even I can manage! ;@)
It's a lovely journey I went on it from devils bridge in 2017 be sure to check out mollies sweet shop in Aberystwyth, it's a very unique sweet shop
Lovely video Andrew, thanks! Can I ask a technical question? Do you leave image stabilization on in your camera when shooting video, for example the panning shots after Dougal drinks from the stream?
I normally leave it on, yes. In this video I had to switch to the iPhone half way through as the battery on my G7X is now past its best, but life on the road makes it difficult to order a replacement.
The ride up on the train from Aberystwyth is well worth a stay in the area Did you check out the camera obscurer on the cliff above the beach at Abber while you were there?
What do twain's run on?
Twacks.
Nice video.
Hey, leave the jokes to me, OK Jeff? ;@)
So. Many. Puns.
Puns R Us :)
How old would that line be? 🙋♀️🐶🇨🇦
There's a link to the railway website in the description :)
