What a fantastic video. That walk looked amazing and you certainly got the weather. It was funny as we watched you at the styles and said we would struggle with Fudge over them and then you said about a German Shepherd 🐕 🐶 and we then chuckled. 👍👍

The little bird at the beginning was delightful. Thanks to you and Dougal for stopping to show us all of the Spring flowers! Your trip looked great (except for the portion with the OTHER noisy dog and children). Dougal is a born traveler, isn't he? He always looks so interested and eager to forge ahead and discover what's there. I think he is smiling in his own way. I love the way he wraps his arm around your neck when you hold him. Thank you so much for sharing all of your beautiful trips with us!!!!

    Hi Andrew
    Great vlog as par usual!
Brought back many happy childhood memories for me , as I know the area well. In the late sixties and early seventies my parents had a static caravan on the Welsh coast between Aberystwth and Aberaeron ( Llanon) , which started my love of caravanning and all things about the pastime ever since. I particularly love Devils Bridge and the drive from there to Rhayader via the Elan Vally which I think is one of the best roads in Wales that being the route we used to take to get home to the Black Country.
Excellent and more of the same please ! All the best to you and Dougal
    Jon

Brilliant Andrew and Dougallllllll , thoroughly enjoyed that trip , what a lovely day out , well done you giving your support , the stream train was wonderful and the views stunning , loved the splurge nothing says springtime more than its lime green leaves , unsure of the little pink flower , was it a saxifrage , the falls were lovely in full flow , imagine being there to see the salmon leaping , great you saw the dolphins though , such a treat , that young guardsman looked so stylish in his waistcoat and gold chains , pocket watch and cap , bet you would suit a nice vintage Harris Tweed waistcoat and cap , go well with your deniums and leather pants !! and as for Dougallllllll with his paw around your neck , toooooo cute !!

I more than rather liked the video. I loved it. The area photography was, as usual, beautiful and the 'Prince of Wales' tank engine was in such a high state of polish that even the brass was bright. Given that the cars were open and you took a hike, you were lucky to avoid the Welsh liquid sunshine. I love trains and I really do hope you continue to take the occasional ride.

Hi Andrew, The early locomotive technology was indeed an English triumph, propelling England into the 19th century as a dominant world power.
Britain is truely blessed with landscapes from a time gone by, a time capsule!
Jesus Andrew you have to get in better physical condition, & I say that with all well meaning intended!
Dougal & Andrew on the train; these vintage train day trips are totally charming, one can leave the turmoil of 2019 behind & at a slow ckick a de clack roll back in time to Dickens's England!
    God bless us, everyone!

Lovely vlog and such beautiful countryside. We live near Manchester so North and Mid Wales are only an hour and a half away so we feel lucky. Technical note - the brightness and contrast on your videos is spot on, it comes across on youtube as exceptionally clear but also very realistic colour balance and contrast , whether its your camera or your choice of settings in post production - DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING lol its set to brilliant.

The train's engineers take meticulous care of those steam engines. The steam engine and cars are in pristine condition. Dougal is a model train passenger.

Looking good! It is funny to see the contrast in Dougall from when he never smiles to seeing him get all excited with a stick! That loco looks really old. Do you know the year? The whole train was beautifully presented.

Lovely video Andrew, thanks! Can I ask a technical question? Do you leave image stabilization on in your camera when shooting video, for example the panning shots after Dougal drinks from the stream?

I normally leave it on, yes. In this video I had to switch to the iPhone half way through as the battery on my G7X is now past its best, but life on the road makes it difficult to order a replacement.

The ride up on the train from Aberystwyth is well worth a stay in the area Did you check out the camera obscurer on the cliff above the beach at Abber while you were there?
