Leland, you wear your heart on your sleeve...that's why we're all here.
I look forward to this Leland every day.. really appreciate the time you spend to do this...sending you respect from Leeds England.
I like all your comments they are all very heart felt.
Your channel makes me feel like I am in a university class of musical history. You are a fantastic teacher & human being. Thanks so much for sharing your talents, experiences, and wisdom. We are so very blessed to be able to attend your “ classes”! Take care & God bless.👏🏻🎸🎵🎶
Totally agree.
I missed the "excitement" but just wanted to say that we're beyond lucky to have a music industry giant like Leland sharing his insights and knowledge. This is a brilliant, well respected musician and a truly decent human being. I don't see people whining about i.e. Rick Beato selling courses, books, merch, etc., this is no different and... if you don't want to go in that direction, then don't. As I said, we are sooooooooo lucky to have access to someone like this via RUclips. Leland is a living legend among musicians and I'm both grateful and thankful that he is sharing so much of his time and experience with us !
Totally eh Marti
@@zeviono4562 Leland is a musician's musician... can't be anything but happy to connect with him even if it's just here on RUclips !
@@garaughty Especially on RUclips. When you think about it, what are the chances that any of us would get so much one on one time with Lee, because thats what it is really. You see him in concert and you think, boy I'd love to talk with him for an hour or so, but it'd never happen. Then this channel of his comes along and we can really get into his head. We're so lucky!
@@zeviono4562 Exactly !
This is like going over to Lee’s house, having a cup of coffee and hearing stories behind the scenes. This is golden! Thank you sir for offering your precious time to do this!! ✌️
I totally support you and your postings. I am honored to hear your stories, insight, and playing. You represent true musicianship!
You're a class act, Lee. Stay the course. Peace & friendship.
Finding this site has been one of the truly bright spots in these times. Thank you. Music keeps us all alive and your stories and memories make us feel part of lovely world. Thanks again.
Yes! You don't have to explain anything! The fact that you are even here sharing your time with us is more than enough! This channel has become my favorite.
Watching "Professor Sklar's Daily Lessons" has been an every day ritual of mine for almost 2 months now.
Thanks for these infusions of good playing & musical history.
Stay safe Leland, and I hope to see you someday again live on stage. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Leland do not listen to these morons. I've really enjoyed your stories and your musical prowess, more power to you.
I have chuckle that the "trolls" didn't realize that there snide comments had a hidden blessing. It gave you a chance to find out how many of us not only appreciate what you do but actually "Get You" and where you're coming from. Just goes to show that the trolls are a worthless minority.
AFmedic6871. Yes. Exactly. Good point.
AFmedic6871 Well said!
You’re a legend Lee, don’t listen to the haters!!!
We love you Lee...keep on keepin on! The right people will support you with or without money. Youre a legend...and im glad this is a highlight for you and you enjoy doing it. We are the lucky ones to hear and see what you did, what you do...and what you will do. We are definitely all in this together. Thanks again for everything! God bless, brothah!
J.A. M.F name calling? Must be Trumster. And name calling is just stored up hate.
I support the President and wouldn’t dream of causing trouble for Lee. Let’s leave politics at the door and just appreciate the interaction and most importantly the music
@@hallucinatedovens8414 disagreement is fine. why do you have to insult warren ?
Lee, my wife and I saw you with Toto a few years ago in Indy. She flipped out because you were playing bass, and when you gave her a "peace" sign, she "fan girled" all over the place!! Thanks for being you!!!!!
Appreciate that you enjoy this project and that we have the opportunity to enjoy it with you
It’s YOUR channel, do whatever you want and I’m sure we’ll be here happily to enjoy. 🙂👍🏼
What you're doing is simply great. Think of the help you're giving to future bassists and musicians generally. Great work, and thanks!
Thank you for being you and passing down the knowledge and history of so much great music! How can people not get you are documenting all this for the next generations?
As an 18 year old drummer and music nerd who loves music from the 60s-90s way more than the mainstream garbage of today's pop music, thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn about the music and musicians I love!
If there EVER was a case for “Fair Use” one would think this man and his content would be it. Sad, but it truly is an upside down world.
It's not really upside down; it's more a lack of knowledge about how copyright works. Let's say Leland plays "Doctor My Eyes". He played on it, right? The copyright is held by (I'm assuming, since he is the credited writer) Jackson Browne. Let's say Jackson says, "Hey, it's my old buddy Leland. Who cares? Let it play."
Unfortunately that can, legally, serve as a basis for release of copyright, which means that Jackson Browne no longer receives mechanical royalties, movies and TV no longer need to license his work, etc. "Doctor My Eyes" becomes public domain. That's why copyright holders seems so overprotective: if they allow (or more importantly, do not challenge) any use that is not strictly fair use, it could come back to bite them right in the ass.
@@freewillies I think ASCAP and BMI come into play here as well. As they are the ones that patrol copyright infringement for the artist so RUclips has to cover themselves. In a unique situation like this I think, there should be away he can play this music since he was actually recorded as part of the music itself. I don't know if there is a license he could get that would let him play it or not? I know arenas, theaters, and other venues have a license that lets them play artist's music but, I'm not sure of the cost or how that exactly works?
@@mikealbright2470 At one level, it's not even about money; it's that retention of copyright rights. Copyright undefended can be construed as copyright surrendered. I guess it is about money, but it's sometimes more about protecting future earnings from conglomerates than squeezing someone on RUclips.
@@freewillies Great point. There is a lot to copyright laws and how they work. ASCAP and BMI can't police everytime a song is played. The artist have to keep track the best they can of their material. President Trump learned that. He got a letter from BMI to stop using the Rolling Stones music. All of it. After Mick heard it at one of his rallies. Other artists were listed as no use artists on his license. Tom Petty's camp also threaten to sue over his use of his music.
I just wish there was a way for Leland to play the music he made without fear of being pulled off RUclips. He pours his heart into it.
Fare? You mean fair.
Hi there Leland! Greetings from the north of England. Please ignore all the negative idiots on here. I don't really do much social media for that reason. Seeing your posts on here made me realise that I recognised that awesome beard! Got me thinking and then it all became clear. As a very average musician, it warmed the cockles of my heart to hear you play and tell your tales about your memories. To me music is the ultimate sharing experience. There may be some that see it as a competitive thing, but I never have. I do suffer from depression and feel nothing but love and enthusiasm from your videos. You're such a lovely guy! I've even been inspired to start strumming on my guitar again. In fact, I even got my bass out, for the first time in over 20yrs! That wouldn't have happened if I'd not seen your videos! If people want to act like sanctimonious, humourless *insert expletive here*, then good riddance to them! Know that you are warmly appreciated in my little corner of the world! Love beats hate any day of the week and twice on Sundays! Peace man! Jimmy xx
Being self employed myself, I understand all the work that goes on behind the scenes that the end customer does not take into consideration when it comes to the true cost in time and money it takes to do something. You have been so generous with your time in sharing these videos with us (for free). For you to ask for a little bit of compensation for a one on one conversation is not too much to ask for someone of your stature and valuable time. You’ve earned it!
I consider it an honor to be subscribed to your channel.
I'm so happy you're doing what you are doing. Your channel has come to be one of my favourite hangouts on RUclips. The stories, the music, the love, the compassion. Thank you so much!
You are so generous with your time here. It's appreciated and enjoyed. To the naysayers... the way I see it, you are merely being offered an opportunity to consult, one-on-one, with an expert and mentor. The price is peanuts. Carry on, Leland. You are a treasure.
Please know Mr. Sklar you have brought joy to thousands of your fans on this site and millions by your music.... Keep this site running...playing music, telling stories, educating and helping put a smile on thousands of faces daily...and give the other site a chance to flourish ...God Bless you Mr. Sklar
Leland--You are a Beautiful Soul!
You have become a part of my daily routine & I appreciate your wealth of knowledge! Thank You!
Can't wait to get to the clubhouse and start having conversations with you, Leland. That's exciting.
You're welcome, from one of the people who gets it.
It's and absolute honour and privilege to have you here and be able to learn and interact. Thank you for all you're doing.
The clubhouse is a great idea. You're content, here on YT gives me something to look forward to each day.
Rock on, Lee. Keep being what you are. I appreciate you! ~Bill
You are far too kind, and extremely generous, Mr.Slkar. I’m glad you called it like it is: “nothing changed and it’s still free.” I’m also glad you noted some folks just don’t, or can’t take time, to actually read beyond a title, or heading - I deal with that daily.
Just know your real fans are grateful and not “pant-loads.” Thank you.
Word of advice....don’t argue with inanimate objects. If you did a “pay page” then I’m certain it’s not compulsory. I don’t understand what they are complaining about.
Mr. Sklar... Please do not allow those without a proper appreciation of your talents and body of work to cause any discouragement or anger. What you share here is priceless, in terms of music, education, history and culture regarding all that you have worked on. The Clubhouse just allows for an expansion on that, which has even more value yet. That being said, the cost for the clubhouse for those who have the ability and desire to join is minimal compared to the return. Thanks for what you have already shared and for what is still waiting to be shared!
You, sir, have been a piece of bliss for me during this cluster *bleep of pandemia... Watching you jam, in your happy spot, eyes closed, smiling as you are being the groove, freely sharing with all... makes my heart giddy. Reminds me how important music has always been in my life ; how it transcends time/space/location/language and really, if I never go days without shaking my heart around the sounds, I am a better being for it. Thank you for letting me spy through your window on these conversations!
You’re good intentions have never been in doubt Leland, keep up the good work.
Leland, you are doing us all a great service by taking us on your journey into your life and the heart of classic rock. I try to watch you every day. We recognize and appreciate you and how much thought, work, and love you put into this wonderful channel and the archives of rich material you are gifting. It often feels like you are telling our stories as we cut our teeth on your licks and I ( for one) didn't even know it. Now I do, and I feel as though I have a friend in the business. Keep it up and don't let the trolls get you down.
Don’t worry Lee, the true supporters won’t desert you. I feel honoured to be able to communicate with one of my musical heros. You have been a major part of my life along with people like Waddy, Russ, Kooch, Jackson Browne, Andrew Gold, Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon and countless others.
I've only come across this channel in the last couple of months and I have to say a big, "Thank you!" for doing this, Leland. I've long admired your musicality and technique, but getting to hear the stories about the songs is really something special. I've recorded a far number of songs and wouldn't have a 10th of the recall with which to elucidate as you do. We appreciate your art and sticking with it.
Some people just want to tear things down...forget them and let’s move on. Thank you so much for all you have brought us!
A true and genuine class act human being all the way. 🤟
Who could possibly dislike Lee Sklar? You're an international treasure!
Love ya Leland. You're one of the coolest cats to ever stalk the hills of Beverly Hills slinging a bass guitar and making great music!
I’ve only had the opportunity to watch a few of your videos. This one and the one you’re referring to being two of them.
It’s clear to me your head and your heart are in the right place, Leland.
Thank you!
Leland, I'm a professional bass player and your fan for a long time. The business kills the joy. Always. But, sadly, we depend on it. Thank you for your words and be sure that you have a friend in me. Bless you!
Your great Leland. Fantastic bass playing and stories.
I am a 65 year old guy that spent my life as a mathematician having a tin ear for music. So, I really appreciate what you have been doing because it covers what my era contained and your demonstrations and analysis allows me to comprehend what I can not discriminate very well with my ears. Thanks, fabulous job and please keep up the great work!
Keep going you’re a great musician and a great human being. Stay safe, greetings from Brasil! 🇧🇷
You're star, Lee. Remember: "non illigitimus carborundum" (don't let the ba****ds grind you down!)
There's no clickbait here. Just the real deal! Keep on keepin' on!
I can't believe that someone with your first-hand knowledge of contemporary music is here, sharing your stories with 'the fans'! 😊
Of the 2000, or so, albums you've played on, I have about 300 of them, in my Vinyl (6,000+ LPs) library.
Having you, putting some of these LPs/songs into context and providing the back-stories, is just wonderful!!
I'm only a music fan, never played an instrument, but I have been listening intently, to all music, for the last 60 years.
You have been a big part of my musical history!
🎸So, THANK YOU!🔊🎶🎶
'I get it'! 😊😊
Dear Sklar, your channel has helped many people cope with a very difficult time and you have given the whole world a lesson in humility. If I had the money I would subscribe even NOW ... unfortunately for us musicians it is a really sad period, none of us are working and paying a rent is difficult. Every artist (and you are a fu*king LEGEND) should be paid for his work and his time, I don't understand why some people seem so strange. If I can afford it, the only thing you did wrong was to delete negative comments. It's never nice to censor something. I love you. 🖕
If some people don't see the big picture, that's a shame, but it looks to me like your subscriber count has actually gone up, not down, so carry on sir. You know what you're doing.
We all look forward to and enjoy your daily posts.
I wish great health and happiness to everyone out there.
Take care.
These videos are great and the stories are a great new way to get to know our favorite songs all over again. What a pleasure! Thank you.
Cool. I totally get what you are saying. But like I told you in the past, you are an “underrated” bassist and I am in awe of you and your talent. ✌🏻😷🙏🏻🎵🎶🎸🎹🎤
You are a music icon, you've "been there, done that, got the t-shirt". You have my respect
You are one of the most down to earth guys out there.
No worries LS! Your work changed my life. To get the inside scoop is priceless. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only cat who thinks so. See you in the clubhouse! Thank you for everything. Cheers all.
Thank you, Mr. Sklar for being a class act and deferring to better judgment.
Screw my budget. Someone needs to contribute to your wardrobe fund😂
Albert😂😉😂😉😂
Those who know, know. To the rest... oh well.
We enjoy and appreciate your effort and the end result. Thanks so much.
Those people who complained are not worth worrying about.
Love ya Brother !
No explanation required... And we are the ones who are thankful for being able to listen to such a nobel and great musician!
Dude, you're doing all this right. Love the discussion and playing of all this music I grew up with. It's a gift. Unfortunately social media and the internet makes some people just want to post negative things for negative things sake, hard to know if they even believe what they are posting. I guess it's empowering to be a jerk with no consequences. Keep being awesome and thanks again.
Always going the extra mile; you’re a good man, Leland Sklar! I hope this reassures at least some of the doubters out there. See you in a little while. Have a great interview.
THANK YOU LEE! This Channel has been the best treasure found for me during COVID-19. Your stories, playing, history and personal perspectives are wonderful!
I work remotely and often play your episodes while doing catch-up work or responding to emails.
BTW- I am now starting every Monday morning with HARMONICS 🎶
Thank you so much, Lee!
That's allot to remember. I appreciate your memories, as I was immersed in music as a youth during the 70's, so I am going down memory lane with you as you remind me of such wonderful details to common music memories. What you are doing is wonderful and most generous.
Thank you Lee!

Thank you for your RUclips channel. Greetings from France.
This site has taken me to hundreds of site's, I was able to stream the Immediate Family last Friday....I felt like I was one of only a few who were invited...I'll be happy to see you at the Clubhouse
I'm glad you're feeling better about things. I've noticed with other "RUclips personalities" it's difficult to please everyone because there are always a few bitchers and moaners in the group. Amplify that with this pandemic crap and everyone is already on edge. I won't be visiting you on the clubhouse channel due to my financial situation. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M GOING TO BE AN ABSOLUTE REGULAR RIGHT HERE! And, that is ok by me. You're my new online friend. We need you, your stories and your badass playing. Rock on, Leland. Taryn
I'm with you! Doesn't seem to matter what site or comment section you visit, there is a group( sometimes the same individuals) who delight in stirring up controversy and discontent. They aren't happy unless they can bring someone down or start a fight. Leland's the greatest and if all the stout hearts stick by him and follow his example, the world will be a better place! #RESIST

It's a privilege to be able to listen to share your stories and music Leland, you're a legend.
Lee, I am so glad you're doing what you're doing. You're in it for the social aspects of it all. Interaction and content is key. There will always be people who are in disagreement and people can be quick to judge and be negative.
You are a top man Lee, “don’t go changin’”....😁
You are the best Lee. Thank you for all you give to us. It is so appreciated in these dark times.
This has been an amazing opportunity to not only be entertained by someone of your stature but to gain insight about how some of our favorite singers, songwriters and musicians created the songs we loved. The behind-the-scene stories are just an added bonus.
We come here to be uplifted by the music you make and your beautiful, generous spirit. No killjoys allowed!
Stay safe. Love this every day.
Mr. Sklar, don’t let these people get under your skin. In Dutch we call them ‘azijnpissers’ (those who piss vinegar). Keep up the good work. I enjoy it every day.
Hallo Rene, my family left Amstelveen in 1969, July, I was turned 12 later that year and not since then did I hear the word "azijn", but I love the context in which you use it, and bejaysus, pissers they are!
Lee, you’ve played on so many recordings with different artists, it’s wonderful that you take the time to share those songs and stories with us. Love it! Thank you for sharing your talent and experiences.
I want to thank you Leland - you have helped me through Lockdown. In the evenings I chose to watch you rather than get consumed by news. I will be thankful to you for the rest of my life. I’ve spent all day researching a new bass! 👍
Alex R, cheers. I’m looking at them now... Cool looking instruments, but am after a 4 string, as I already have 5 string. 👍
I am not a musician of any kind, but every time I see Lee's dark green Dingwall I almost want to buy one just to hold and look at! A real lovely piece of equipment.
TF.in.SF, I’d like to be a better musician and probably play things which deserve a higher skill, but I am like a kid in a sweatshop when I see these things! I even look at saxophones and get all goofy eyed... I can’t even play a saxophone!!! 🤪
@@WDXash I can and, let me tell you, my tenors were built before I was born. But let's get back to the important things in life. That B string on the Dingwall just has such a solid sound. If I had any extra money and if I could find one for sale, it would be mine.
Alex R, I’ll bet it sounds good, and will be far better than the B on my cheap Yamaha 5 string. I shall resist buying a sax... I need to be strong! 😆
I’m not aware of any other bass players of your stature and experience who are taking the time and effort to reach out on RUclips as you have done Mr Sklar. Thank you for your honesty, your time and your generosity in reaching out to us all - it is greatly appreciated and very humbling. Warmest thanks. 😷🇬🇧🌞🙏🇬🇧😷
