G/F, you got me INSPIRED after watching your bathroom clean out. I just got finished cleaning, decluttering my bathroom and bathroom dressing area. I CLEANED, SCRUBBED, DECLUTTERED everything NOT glued down. Got rid of 8 more items ( 38 total in 2 months). I put out 2 new toothbrushes for the new year, scrubbed the shower curtain with mildew cleaner, wiped down bathroom walls, counters. Cleaned mirrors, all my bathroom containers. My 2 bathroom areas are spotless. Also, washed all bathrooms rugs, swept both floors, mopped. It took me almost an hour and a half but I got it done for the New Year. Now, Im starting iny bedroom.😂
Maintenance decluttering is so much easier than having to go through years of accumulation. I typically will go through every area of my house about once a year. High traffic areas like the kitchen I will do more often.

For the medicine cabinet, get a little sample paint at Home Depot and paint the inside. I am going to declutter my bathroom today! thank you for always motivating me to declutter! Happy Holidays!

I was thinking the same thing, the inside can be painted or maybe covered with contact paper. If painting, some kind of primer might be necessary.
I use cute scrap booking paper to cover my dingy medicine cabinet! Easy Peasy!
Or the same thing she uses on her kitchen floor . Or vinyl . I don't know how the call it in English 😅 i mean some sort of sticker stuff . Peel and stick ? Geesh haha

Did this a few months ago and realized I did not need to buy soap, shampoo or lotion for at least a year!!
You continue to inspire me. It won't be this month because I still plan to have my Christmas decorations up for a few more days, but I promise it will get done. The year 2024 will be one of deliberate purging, simple organization, conscious purchases, and letting go of that which weighs me down. hey Carla, happy new year! a quick spray paint in the medicine cabinet would work like a charm. Not expensive or time-consuming.
Once you start to go through your stuff multiple times it does get easier to let things go with each declutter.

A jeweler once advised me not to store jewelry in the bathroom because the high humidity damages it. Perhaps you should reconsider whether there is a better place in your apartment so that you can enjoy it for a long time.
I was thinking the same thing for the books and the make up. I had to toss a load of eyeshadow that I kept in the bathroom because it developed mold.
It would be so awesome if you could get Alexandra Gator to do a renter friendly apartment decor video for your place. You have mentioned before that your landlord doesn't let you do anything, but Alexandra decorates with this in mind. Your personality would really suit some more character in your home. You really deserve it. I love your channel.
Feels so good to declutter! 🥳 Thanks for sharing the list! Not sure if anyone else has suggested it, but *I love using contact paper to cover up old cabinets*. That might work for covering the stains in the bathroom medicine cabinet and the bottom of the shelf under the sink. Hope it helps! ♥ Jenny
Maintenance is so important in life. I think people think decluttering is a one and done because of shows - before and after is so satisfying. But keeping up with it is what keeps the problem from coming back. Carla, I feel like your routines are working for you. It's okay to do a once in a while declutter instead of keeping up with it daily.
When I got back on the bandwagon in the fall of 22, I started in my bathroom. It's great because there isn't a lot of sentimental clutter in there and it's such a quick win that I got to see several times a day whenever I was in there. ❤
I am on the decluttering journey. I am back at work today but I did clear out sauce bottles out of my fridge and things out of date! I feel lighter already.
I will just do a little bit after work on certain day of the week.
Ok, emptying the bathroom cabinets now!

A few days ago got a clog in bathroom sink. So needless to say, had to take out everything from under the sink. Wow! Lots of items we forget about and had to go through it. Don't wait for a clog, such a mess. Thank you for being vulnerable and inspiring us.
Your videos are the reason i started to declutter my house and really think about the things I use.

I did my bathroom a couple of months ago and it's been pretty well maintained! I did find about 5 items that wandered into my bathroom that needed to be rehomed. I think I threw one thing away! I'm feeling pretty accomplished lol! I've been decluttering my kitchen cabinets *again*. My oldest daughter is on a kind of strict diet to determine if she has any allergies. I've had to declutter 6 grocery bags full of food! I am also noticing things we don't use enough (like muffin tins, etc) that I'm going to remove as well. I'm loving all of the empty spaces in my cabinets!

Carlaaaaa! In your no-buy challenge vid you've mentioned some Farm Rio shirts scored during the sale season - as a Brazilian, I beg ya to film a video showing them + latest buys! Farm is a very known, beloved Brazilian brand and I feel so proud when I see foreigners paying attention to it! They have a fabulous Adidas collab as well, for a few years now. I do regular decluttering in all shared areas of our home and it really helps keep everything under control.
Today I did my bathroom and my hall closet which is toiletries and linens and cleaning supplies. I gave about 90-100 items for donation. About 5 things for trash. I had done outdated medications about a month ago so not a lot there. Now I know what I have and where it is!
I love the content and motivation that comes from watching you in action. Something to note, I don’t know where your donation items are going but I’ve worked in a couple of shelters. We usually couldn’t give open products to residents, mainly bc we didn’t know if it was tainted and some times stuff was so old that it should’ve never been donated. We threw out so much stuff as soon as it came in.
I use a lip brush to get the last bit of lipstick out of the tube. Works great.

I got two small acrylic clear drawers from Primark and I store my partner's contact lenses as he has two different ones. So he uses with no problems and easy access inside the cabinets.

I’m constantly cleaning out and passing along bathroom items to my niece. I know she’s sick of it even though she says she’s not. 😂. But she’s still willing to accept, so I keep on giving. I always think I’ve declutterred my bathroom “finally”, but…nope. 😂. I’ll get there one day! 😊

I had a cabinet like that. Hit it with a couple of coats of rustoleum spray paint and it looked like new. Your videos are inspiring. I'm in the middle of decluttering my home office. BTW, I love the soundtracks used in your videos.
This is interesting because you don't proclaim to be a minimalist and your bathroom doesn't appear minimal but you use all the products so it pretty much meets the definition of minimalism. I'm the same way with my beloved cardigans... I have at least 15 of them (even though I just decluttered a few) but I wear them all. I'm Canadian so I feel like I can have this many and still call myself a minimalist. 😂

we all have our favorite things to buy, mine are not health and beauty items. I have one bottle shampoo, a brush, a few lipstick, a few nail polish, a few first aid things, a shower cap, one hair conditioner, one deodorant.....BUT don't ask me how many christmas ornaments and decorations i have LOL That's what i used to like to collect...i stopped three years ago, maybe the pandemic helped stop that, the pandemic had a way of changing priorities. My house and bathroom are tiny so i can't fit much anyway. My 46 years of christmas collecting is covering half of a wall (boxes, bins). Thanks for inspiring me this past year....i got rid of a lot of stuff, every week !
For you medicine cabinet:
Try CLR cleaner first , then wipe clean let completely dry, step two is go in with Barrs scouring powder with a tuff pad (green side) completely clean and let dry and last step is spray with bleach ,let sit and wash off ..this should help .
Mind did look like yours (old home with original fixtures) it worked on most of it.

I decluttered just my bathroom dressing area last month and got rid of 30 items. Just junk I didn't use anymore. Perfumes do go bad.
It is amazing how much stuff accumulates without realising.

I repainted my medicine cabinet found a small can of Rust-Oleum 241168 Specialty Appliance Epoxy Paint, and it turned out so good . I wanted to use spray paint but knew better .. would have gotten ALL over the place ..

Try some pretty peel and stick wallpaper to freshen up the inside of your medicine cabinet
I had a similar medicine cabinet and vanity that were just worn out and never seemed 'clean'. I used removable drawer liners that I cut to size to spiff them up.

I have the same storage clear drawers for my makeup... The issue is I also have several other storage bins with makeup...and cabinet drawers...(for All my new makeup) which I quickly forget about because it's in a drawer and not a clear bin..😂 And so goes the cycle😂. This has definitely inspired me though!

I painted my old medicine cabinet inside. It looks amazing again. I mean, kilz and pic white or a color.. also, put the castor oil in glass. It will absirb all the toxins in plastic.

i keep extras for tp and fem prods in my hallway closet. i have an over the door storage unit that is a life and space saver! the mexico book i found at my little library. lots of pretty pictures. it's by taschen i believe❤️ working on getting more videos out. almost 14 i think in the last two months so 🥳

Hey Carla; i know that this might sound strange, but when I spend money on products, I will cut about a third of the way down the tubes, and yes, some plastic bottles. I learned this trick from a super wealthy friend, who does not waste her expensive products. There is always a LOT of produce in the tubes and bottles. Then i just use the top third as the lid to fit it over the bottom portion with some cling film. My friends laughed at me, but I've noticed that they now do the same😂. There is usually another 2 weeks of product left in the tube or bottle. Dont judge; products are too expensive, and although I can afford it, im just not into waste. 😅

Yes!! I’ve done this with my la Roche posay body lotion.. cut the top off, but then the lotion gets dry and tacky., but I do love a good glass jar, so I’m sure I can scoop it out and transfer it and use the rest of it up. Thanks for the reminder!
