This was such a blast. Performing live for my heroes.
Awesome!!!!! You continue to inspire!
Funny stuff, Brian. I'm not sure if you fooled anyone in the audience, but it was entertaining to say the least. This exposure surely can't hurt your business.
Great act! Love the show, well done!
Brian Brushwood Awesome act. Had me cracking up, anyway. Been waiting for this since I saw the first trailer for the show and somehow managed to spot you in it. (Blink and you'll miss it. lol)
Brian Brushwood That was fun too watch! Great to see you with Penn and Teller! :-)
This is my absolute favorite performance on Fool Us. Brian is just incredibly humble and fun, he was able to keep the entire performance moving fast and cracking us up.
oh, wow-- thanks!
Scam School favorite scam was the human chimney people love when I transfer smoke from match into my mouth
he really is. He just has the charisma and honestly 90% of the people there I know the tricks so I can care less if they show it again and again what's important is the whole show around it. Brian Nailed it
theshonen8899 shim lin is mine he is so smooth
you should watch his new channel with Jason Murphey called "The Modern Rogue".
Seeing Teller's little jump of glee when he eats the bill brings so much joy to my heart every time I see it.
This guy who has a channel called the Modern Rogue. Look em up, there cool guys.
Oh yeah!! Very awesome! Have you seen their Nord VPN ad? I’ve never looked forward to look at sponsorships like theirs.

My mind = blown

@@scamschool damn I love this, it's a few years old of a comment, even longer of a letter but Teller's advice really strikes some sense into me too
@@scamschool this advice can be applied to more than just magic. That reminds me, I wonder just where the modern rogue is going... Surprise me

Teller is just so damn classy.

I was just about to like this, but it's sitting at 666 and I dare not disturb it.
awe I was hoping that the bill would somehow make its way to the stack of cash that he gave penn and teller
same
I don't think they'd be able to figure that out.
Real magic doesn't exist.
+SomeNiceMovies One can never know.... There are too many mysteries in this world that could not be explained by science or reason. However, the "Real" magicians would be keen enough to hide their abilities.... So yeah.... Any magician you see or hear of is only using tricks, illusions, etc.
Ray Shadows Well, I'm agnostic against unicorns REALLY, but there's no such thing.
I love that the show isn't just, "Yeah, we know how you did that, you idiot!" They approve a good act, form, showmanship. Basically saying, "That was fun!" ...Best talent show format ever.
OMG Scam School! On Pen and Teller? I never even knew? I'm so proud of you Brian I've been subbed to you for 5 years.
awesome!
Scam School no way. Thanks for replying. I have been watching you since I was 11. I'm 16 now, and you are what got me into magic. You are awesome.
Thanks, man.
Scam School now I have to go watch up. I have not seen a vid in a few years
Scam School
Not to mention being a regular viewer of Modern Rogue.
Did he ever get the stack of money back?
BTW, I was always a fan of scam school, but holy fuck. That stage charisma tho.
Stage charisma makes or break any performer, especially a magician. That's what transforms Brian from a decent magician to a pretty darn good one.
The stack of money wasn't real you lemon

Good for you Brian, you must feel even better that they knew who you were.
SkylordProductionz to know that penn and teller respect your craft! It's a great feeling having those you look up to have great things to say about your craft!
SkylordProductionz I didn't read it wrong.. It was a correction...
SkylordProductionz you haven't had the opportunity to perform before your idols / mentors then...
SkylordProductionz for the sake of not giving a fuck, let's just agree to disagree lol
SkylordProductionz talking to them privately is different then being publicly praised by your idols.
Brian: Some people will want to see the dollar bill when I'm done with the trick *EATS THE DOLLAR*
That bit was just so perfect
Such a fun performance. Brian picked this knowing full well that any magician knows how it works. Zero chance of "fooling" Penn & Teller. But, that's not the point. The point is absolutely everybody had a blast. Awesome job, Mr. shwood. ^^

you don't have to explain anything to anybody, if you have the money in your account, just ask
or just tell the teller that you and your buddies are going to see their mom perform
"I would like to withdraw three thousand dollars. $1 bills only please."

MemesAreCancer Bruh I've seen 3 of your comments on 3 different videos today
I love that... "on a scale of one to ten? Uhh... negative 5..."Absolutely no false humility there.. still loved it! :)
it wasn't false humility. he knew that they knew the trick.
orionh3000 he was being sarcastic, kid.
Negative 5 because they've done this trick several times before. Not just Conan's show.
See, this guy understands how this show works. He wanted to do a nice act, probably one that they're familiar with, and do it well. He understood the likelihood of them knowing how the trick was done and respected their description and even added to it when he ate the bill at the end. This man has charisma for days. I would love to see him do a full hour+ act. He has the same "it" factor that Penn and Teller have. Where you're watching illusions but laughing the whole time. It's a delight for your brain. Where both your sense of intrigue and humor are triggered while you witness this guy's amazing performance. I love shows that do that.
He's the type of person I hope makes it, because he seems like a genuinely good guy with a respectful demeanor not to mention his abundance of talent. What else could you ask for in an entertainer? I don't know if Brian will ever see this comment but I wish him all the luck in the world, he deserve any and all success he may achieve.
+Corey Carnes You're too kind, Corey. Thanks a million!
Scam School If this is Brian, first of all, AWESOME, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD! *Pees himself with excitement*
Secondly, you are very welcome. I meant every word of it. Keep up the fantastic work, Sir.
+Corey Carnes actually, that's not how the show works at all
+Corey Carnes You got that connected over this short clip?
to be honest, Penn admitting that Brian did the trick better than Teller, is still quite an achievement, lol
That stood out to me as well. Teller does not half-ass anything. To say Brian did it better is a really humble compliment.
"that's 'my name.'"
very clever
Bubble No way it says "my name"
"your name" then perhaps
His name could have actually been written on it, just not the signature that Shawn made ;)
Remember he said "make sure it's nice and small. Neatness counts." Thereby making it very easy to duplicate.
That's correct
Brian is one of those [very few] performers I'd love to meet in person for some Scam school magic! Nice stuff there, man!
Thanks, man.
When teller jumped up clapping when u ate the bill that was so fucking awesome
I like how you asked the serial number and then you were just like, "uh huh! That's it!"
Michael S yeah, I wish they would have shown the serial numbers both before and after (they did match), but maybe that was a bit too tedious and would have slowed down the comedy. Good enough either way.
Scam School b-e-a-utiful! Loved it Brushwood!
Even though I know how it was done I still laughed my way through it!
Scam School you should have used 'Simpatico'. That one still messes with me.
Thomas Ryan That's a good one, but really needs 7-8 minutes to breathe. I've never tried it in a TV setting before.

Teller's letter to you has been the foundation of my approach to music oddly enough, and it's so great to see you perform for them. In a larger sense, it seems that in Scam School you've really found the voice you said you were looking for, and you are one of the greatest living magicians, not for any routine or trick, but because you've found a way to really share the experience of making magic with all of us in such a positive and fun manner. THANK YOU.
This is just Brian bullying Shawn for 5 minutes
I love you chose a trick that they do! I was like "I'm not even going going to _try_ to fool you. I'm honoured to perform for you"
And a great performance it was.

"where did you study medicine?"
"The Philippines"
Is that an insult.
@@paulolazaro3433 it's a joke because the psycic surgery trickery was very popular in the Philippines and possibly originated there.
Edit:except they weren't doing magic tricks, they were telling people it was real and they were really cured from whatever ailment they had
Old times in philippines they fooled people doing this trickery by pretending curing poor people paying them small amount of money which almost all what they have. Now f only they realized they can fool rich people and entertain them and them go home smilling.
It even got Andy Kaufman to go to the Philippines, but judging from the movie, he recognized it was a trick and was amused by it when he saw it.
@@kitsunekid16 I guess that's from the animistic side of our culture with our ethnic groups, which y'know, its a cute joke. xD
Sadly my mom is a doctor that studied here and she's one of the best physicians I know, so the joke was kinda meh.
She may not be like a rockstar surgeon like how western pop culture depicts a "good doctor" would be, but she has treated patients that all the other doctors she works with werent willing to help.
The best type of doctor is the one that will put so much effort into making sure you get better. AND THAT is a sense of duty that was taught in our culture during her time.
Missed opportunity: he could have said "you caught me red handed"
Rewatching for the hundredth time and still can't get over when teller gets up out of his chair to applause brian when he eats the bill. that's such a teller move to clean the table
Doesn't matter the trick, this was entertaining.
thanks!
+Scam School Big Fan here! 😁
Right at the end: “Could you have made it work with YOUR NAME as well, or just Sean’s name?”
And so he eats the bill to remove the evidence. That in fact, Sean told the truth when he said “your name” is on the bill.
But Sean said: "that's my name"
This is the first act I've seen that I forgot that I was trying to figure out the trick. This was so enthralling and entertaining that I unintentionally was just watching and enjoying the ride. Excellent showmanship!
7:42 I think that was the best ending to any magic trick I've ever seen...
It's awesome to see this, I must say. Bravo good sir.

if u pause and look at 6:00 you can see that the guy does not in fact have a hole in his stomach
No shit, I thought I watched surgery on live tv for a second.

+Simon Something
What's wrong with you two?
Jack Sainthill what? serious go watch it its not even remotley as gross as youd think its actually verry interesting to watch how various surgeries are donetheres nearly no blood cause well there surgeons and know what there doing and its editied so it just jumps in at the point where theyve made the incision the cavity is open and continues from there where after that your just staring at the guys heart go watch its a good show
KYLE REES
Yes, we all know about genuine surgery carried out on TV for the furtherance of viewers' enlightenment on medical procedures, thank you.
However, here that practice is a non-sequitur which only you seem to have considered worth mentioning.
Everyone else here has been talking about an event that occurred as part of a stage magician's performance, not anything to do with a real operation..
I ask again, what is wrong with you?
Wow!! I absolutely loved this! I just wanted to take a second to thank you for being a inspiration to me. O started watching your channel 3 weeks ago and since then I have been infatuated with card tricks / bar tricks! You have brought great joy to me and my mother. HOO - DINI Wow, good eye. I'm very glad he didnt though. Could you imagine the humiliation he'd've felt? Sure as a professional performer he can take humiliation but to have it happen when you are performing in front of your idols. That'd hit hard.

I think it just says "your name" lol
Shanker nah but then he confirms by saying “that’s my name”
then it says "my name"
@@Gruskinator if it says "my name" why would somebody say "that's my name"

this guy is chill as fuck
WOW, haven't watched your videos in a while. I was here back when you had that spikey haircut and way less subs! Nice work Brian, keep it up, I love your personality and content
Thanks so much!
fake hahaha
Until the end when Teller revealed that he had a trick at the end, I thought the trick was at the beginning.
I thought that the top bill of every stack had the same serial number as the real dollar he had stashed in that baloon.
Because he specifically asked Sean to take the top bill and not just a random one.
The trick is easier than that. Ask the crowd to remember the serial number at the beginning, then at the end have them recite it back to you and say "Wow, it's the same number!"
@@bufar what about the participants name?
@@Condemned782 The bill at the end doesn't say the participant's name. It says "your name".
Brian asks Sean "Is that your name printed on the bill?" Penn asks "would it work with your name too or just Sean's name?" which prompts Brian to eat the bill.
@@bufar oh okay I gotcha
I love how Penn subtly gives away the secret. "Would it also work with YOUR NAME?"
I don’t get it...
@@ddd1hhh the bill says literally 'my name' or 'your name', so when he asks 'is this your name?' The person has to say yes, because it's true.
I just found your channel and watched several videos, and today you're on Penn & Teller. Great act. Great setup, good banter, I was well entertained as was the audience.
I just think that the dollar bill he pulled out at the end literally said "Your Name" on it. He asks the man of it says your name on it. The man can't honestly say no. That's my theory.
That's actually one way of doing the trick, you can write "your name" or the volunteer's name and they have to agree what it says
It's not his fault they didn't show a close-up shot
Brian uses the same guy whenever he does this trick.
No, if he didn't want to cooperate, he wouldn't go along with it and the trick would fall apart, and P&T strictly forbid audience plants, which they verify with the consultant. Come *on,* y'all.
Brian is the man! Great performance and personality!

Bravo, Brian.
"Shwood" kills it every time. Love his stuff.
I think you should come up with a trick that has the same setup, but the reveal is somehow in the pack of one's you gave to Penn. That would have fooled me definitely.
I love Brian Brushwood. I think he is funny, talented and so cool. I love him on the Modern Rogue channel and his Scam School stuff which I could binge watch all day (and sometimes have when I have no life). Nope! Not just you.
You did a good job dont listen to the haters , you are my idol 🙂
Thanks, man.
Some years ago, I was on Ft. Carson to attend Army training for a very mundane subject. While there, a massive, multi-day blizzard set-in forcing the class to be cancelled. However, I was still on orders for the duration, and had nowhere to go because of the weather. So, I sat in my room for a week watching Scam School.
And so began my journey into magic tricks, sleight of hand, and lock-picking.
The top note on every stack of bills was a fake note, the rest of the notes were real and able to be examined by Penn and Teller. The top bill was also identical on every stack so that the trick would work no matter which stack Shaun chose. Note that he doesn't ask Shaun to pick any note he wishes from the stack, just the top one.
As for the note at the end having Shaun's name on it, it is not as most people in the comments suggest and it says something like "your name" on the bill or something like that.
The magician had an assistant back stage who had an identical copy of the note and simply wrote Shaun's name on the note when he heard it and the note was brought in along with the medical table. Simple really.
"well played, rogue. well played."
-confuscious
I just so much of wanted a magician just to say how much he admires them in his intro!, I don't know I always feel other magicians intro for this show a little bit arrogant, and it was just so awesome that I watched such a modest intro with one of my favorite magicians! haha congrats Brian!
That's awesome you got to go on Fool Us! :D
thanks!
That guy is just awesome
+TheLastUltra thanks.
+Scam School At the very end when you took out the dollar bill, you didn't show the serial number. Only showed the name. Psychic surgery is also a technique used by Penn and Teller. Even though it was easy to figure out, it was a pretty well performed trick.
Total scam of an act and it was perfectly executed. Well done, definitely living up to the name of your channel.
I know that he knows that I knew that he knew that they knew how it was done.. XD
***** indeed you and we and they did.
Did you talk with Teller at the end of the show? I mean, you are his son, right?
Errrrm... no
Erik Davtyan He isn't his biological son. But at the beginning of the first Scam School book he mentions how he (Brian) wrote a letter to Teller. Teller later got back to him saying that Brian was his bastard son. Aaaand, that's how Brian got inspired.
