Hello there! Greetings from Lima, Perú. This is Miguel writing. This is the 1st video of yours but certainly the 1st of many as I did subs. This MOX6 it's been swiming around in my head, meaning that can't get out the idea of updating my gear. I have a Kurzweil SP4, Korg Karma and Yamaha EX7. And I have the opportunity of selling both (K&Y) I am not convinced enough if MOX6 is truly better synth than the EX7. Both are 64 poly But, EX5/EX7 are considered "the father of the Motif". What upsets me most is that Yamaha quit on deliver multi sound engines workstations. Turned onto using simply AWM2 and more memory and not necessary better sounds. EX have VA, LA, DSP and AWM2. Plus sampling and resampling. And better keybed and bulky body. In the other hand, MOX6 is 2011 vs 1998/9. Light weight and usb format. Please, would you reccommend me to let go the EX7 And later buying a MOX6? OR cannot see such more advantages? Thank you very much.
Thanks for the question, I'm afaraid I'm not familiar with eh EX-7 but the more modern OS and features, such as FX and more ROM memory are likely to make the newer Yamahas worth a look. The Montage definitely has more sound engines...
Hi sonicate can you use the moxf6 as a controller in Ableton live 10. I'm looking everywhere.i can't get the transport buttons to work.i just feel like I burnt £850 quid . literally mate.so little help for a great piece of kit.any help would be appreciated.cheers
Nick Your Reviews are a Direct result of your dedicated Passion. You know exactly what we want with things like "Let me Give you a Sweep"! Your effort does not go un-noticed m8. Ok, for the £s, it's a Very Details Synth. 8 Parts per Voice? Few! But yes, the Notches during live knob-tweak is appalling in this day n age where promices were made regarding the apprehensive switch over from Analog, to Digital. The LFO Waveform Sequencer is incredible. Right, I'm off to look up "Magic Fairy Castle"!
@MarcJX8P actually you can edit all parameters via the front panel - I since discovered - although its a much more pleasurable experience via the editor
The 80's magic fairy castle children's voiceover effect is clearly a big selling point. Also, that's the steppiest filter knob I've heard in a long time... The vocoder was suprisingly lush sounding, though.
Hello wich editor you use. My give me time out Error But i know port.midi and anu Other config i maket correct. Can you send me one link to download Editor please?
Hola. Ayudaaaaa.... Creé una pista (midi) en mi mox6... quiero grabarlo en una usb o pasarlo a una pc para poder usar esa pista en otro teclado... como hago???... también tengo una mac y uso logic pro-x (por si se pude importar)
Does this keyboard come with the downloadable software on the computer? I just got this piano and I want to know how to use a backtrack . I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense but hope you could help!
can you make a video with only the acoustic piano patches? would love to hear more of that. I would like to purchase this but there is none available for me to test. n buying it online doesnt allow that
Hi to all MOX6 user. I'm a new user now :) Can anyone help me with effects on my mic? why is it when i'm in voice mode the effect ssems ok, but when I change to performance mode everything change.
great review as always, various websites hint at the mox6 having organ modelling onboard or something of like-- any chance you could show us a bit of this? very curious to see how good the sounds are / how flexible it can be. Can't wait for part 2!
I need you advice please , I am looking for synthesizer having a real real realistic sounds especially saxophone , trumpet shaxe , flute , violin , do you think this moxf6 is good ? or you have another suggestion. thanks !
i heard the organs at the store and i was sold i would just like you to play it and tell me if you would reccomend it for a church board cause i bought a fantom g and its not getting me what i need
Incredible videos, thanks for share them, I Have some questions: 1.- You could use the vocoder like other voices? For example: you are playing piano then, organ, the violin and then vocoder, you could change quicky through voices including the vocoder? 2.- You could use the vocoder in the performance mode? I mean, play the vocoder with the right hand while you play chords with the left hand? and using it at the same time with other voices? like in the combi section of the korg synths?
I've a ques.. Can the 'Foot Controller' connector be used for connecting a Patch change foot pedal?? And Btw.. a grt demo..Most of my queries were solved by this vid..Thanks a lot..
Gotto be something on that VST mode?! give em a call for us Nick! Would be neat thing to load up a vst instrument and apply effects & stuff from the Mox.
I've considered the mox6 for a while now and I'll probably pick it up next week, however, being used to plug-ins only and never really messed with midi before I'm wondering how that will work with the low polophony and let's say, 16 channels of sound coming in all at once.. will it cause a problem (I'm no Mozart so I will not run up and down on the keys like a mad man obviously) but I wouldn't want to limit myself either. I hear people run into problems with only a layered piano and some sustain
Thanks for reply, but it seems it only works if you use Cubase along with a few other options. I was hoping to be able to use it with my live VST host BLOXPANDER.
Is it possible to play my VSTi applications in such way that only a USB connector is needed? My hope is to only have audio coming out of Mox6 to soundboard because USB is delivering audio from vst, rather than audio out from laptop.
Excellent review! Could you please tell a rookie about the different options for pedals for these keyboard? This is my first one. Thank you. Rookie Tim
is it possible to connect a mic that needs phantom 48v power? and if not can you plug to the mic input of the mox the output of a mic preamp (used also to get the 48v) ty
How do you add the editor to Daw remote / VST window? I downloaded the editor but I need to open it in a separate window.. When I press on F2 all I get are a few piano chords and with all the F#'s numbers....???
Hi great reviews, i have a mox6 now, can you help me make a big brass sound, i used to have ASR10 ensonique which had Brass patch "Miami Brass" i cant seem to get any where near this kind of sound, i need a usable brass sound for live performance. hope you can help .Al
Can I have Bloxpander live vst hosting software on my laptop and still have audio come out of usb to Mox, so I then can combine output from Mox and Bloxpander through Mox audio out, or can it only make use of DAW setups?
How's that this is the only channel* that does actual reviews, not marketing acts disguised as reviews? *apart from occasional individual musician/gearnut
I just checked out Korg Kronos videos. I did not like it, the sound of it. Btw I've got a Korg 01/W Pro, the big weighted model. I should get more sounds for it.
fuck it , im going to Buy the MOX6 and the Korg pa600 ... which will cost around $2,100 ... thats $400 less than the Motif XF , and BOTH Together Must Be Better than just on XF right ?
Have to say I agree with everything you said,These big Companies think that standing next to their new Keyboard and talking ..not even playing it will sell the product ..It wont .
Why do all the latest synths from the big Japanese companies appear to be manufactured from the same material as yoghurt tins? This latest one looks like it would blow off its synth stand if you sneezed too loudly as well. Finally, IMHO, I think synth evolution has reached an absolute impasse, not heard anything new for some years now... Great review, though.
I agree with most peoples ONLY question how durable will this be on a gig or with traveling that's what's gonna help me make my choice!!! So if anyone has this how sturdy is it even though its kinda plasticky please that's make or brake for me!!! :)
Even 9 years later, this is by far the most useful and informative review of this thing on the internet. Good looking out, Nick.
Yeah man..I like when nick does his reviews on his own.
sonicstate is by far the best keyboard reviewer on the internett hands down
Were you able to find the built-in USB audio interface specs somewhere or did you find out just from using it.
Nice review, Nick!
It's great that you showed the technical part of the synth, and not just talking blabla about some very personal things like keyboard feel.
80s magic castle stuff!!!! You the best reviewer EVER!!!!
Very very good review, as usual, I found answers to all my questions ! Thank you !
Fantastic review, as always!
hello, i was wondering if you’re available for zoom or in person tutoring of the moxf6 or moxf8 keyboard??

@SquareWaveHeaven yes it is rather - I think its down to the interpolation of the encoder though - go fast and it steps, slow and it doesnt (so much)
@MarcJX8P actually you can edit all parameters via the front panel - I since discovered - although its a much more pleasurable experience via the editor

I really LOVE the voice sound at 6:00, i was wondering hoe you set up the oscilators to make that wonderful lush sound?
@foofeo yep there are a couple of bundled VSTs one of which is the organ - there are organ sounds too though
Hello wich editor you use.

Man, this board sounds great!!! Great review my friend!
Thank you Sir for a very good demo plenty to experiment Gustave
@sonicstate thanks! look forward to sound audition and/or part 2
Is this the best workstation keyboard in the sub £1k price range? Should i spend my cash on this or the Juno Gi?
Yes, sound of your VST instruments comes from MOX's audio out. So basically you don't need your laptop's sound card at all with this keyboard.
Excellent review, cool synth! I really like the way the editor looks. How deep can you edit your sounds though on the synth itself?
can you please help, I want to create a tune how do I record and build up my tracks Thank you.
Congratulation for the review. Excellent and useful job!
can you make a video with only the acoustic piano patches? would love to hear more of that. I would like to purchase this but there is none available for me to test. n buying it online doesnt allow that
Are the Keys themselves the same quality of Motif x6, is the action the same?????
Hi to all MOX6 user. I'm a new user now :) Can anyone help me with effects on my mic? why is it when i'm in voice mode the effect ssems ok, but when I change to performance mode everything change.

Great review. Are there any kinds of analog types of (old school) sounds? Say like Moogs and stuff?
I need you advice please , I am looking for synthesizer having a real real realistic sounds especially saxophone , trumpet shaxe , flute , violin , do you think this moxf6 is good ? or you have another suggestion. thanks !
Get a casio px-5s and its cheaper and has weighted keys and has proffesional sounds.
Casio and professional are 2 words that can not support each other :-((
@lemming171 electro gyspy?
i heard the organs at the store and i was sold i would just like you to play it and tell me if you would reccomend it for a church board cause i bought a fantom g and its not getting me what i need
I own this keyboard and love it...just need a video to learn how to create patterns and chain them together for songs...
Incredible videos, thanks for share them, I Have some questions:

Gotto be something on that VST mode?! give em a call for us Nick! Would be neat thing to load up a vst instrument and apply effects & stuff from the Mox.
Yeah, I'm kinda surprised about that as well, and figured that such a sophisticated keyboard would definitely have 128 poly.
I've considered the mox6 for a while now and I'll probably pick it up next week, however, being used to plug-ins only and never really messed with midi before I'm wondering how that will work with the low polophony and let's say, 16 channels of sound coming in all at once.. will it cause a problem (I'm no Mozart so I will not run up and down on the keys like a mad man obviously) but I wouldn't want to limit myself either. i know this is probably a stupid question but does it have just basic saw/square etc. waves?
EXELLENT SOUND !!!
I BOUGHT IT !!!
@mCKENIC Would love to but I've not been able to get hold of one.
Is it possible to play my VSTi applications in such way that only a USB connector is needed? My hope is to only have audio coming out of Mox6 to soundboard because USB is delivering audio from vst, rather than audio out from laptop.
What do you prefer? THe Mox 6 or the Juno GI
Can you show us some of the opertunyties you have with the foot controller?
Excellent review!
Could you please tell a rookie about the different options for pedals for these keyboard? This is my first one. Thank you.

the sounds seem really good, it's a shame about the stepping on the filters :(
Can the editor software also work as a vst. So i could use my computer to control the sounds if i was making a song for example
@tijngorter
Hi, what kind of music do you play?
I'm interested to know how well suited it is for my electronic music. thanks!
Hi.What is better Yamaha MOXF6 or Roland fa 06??
Ive had a MOX since they released and it is brilliant for a home studio setup I would not be without my MOX
How do you add the editor to Daw remote / VST window? I downloaded the editor but I need to open it in a separate window.. When I press on F2 all I get are a few piano chords and with all the F#'s numbers....???

i was wondering if u could u atleast hav give some examples of the brass and synth tones please...
How many tracks can be recorded via the USB to Cubase?
Can I have Bloxpander live vst hosting software on my laptop and still have audio come out of usb to Mox, so I then can combine output from Mox and Bloxpander through Mox audio out, or can it only make use of DAW setups?
This is what I call a review! Thx!
Does the software work on a Mac or is yamaha stuff only pc based?
Is there a software voice editor like that for other Motifs? I couldn't find anything about it elsewhere.
How's that this is the only channel* that does actual reviews, not marketing acts disguised as reviews?
*apart from occasional individual musician/gearnut
but .,,,which is this software in video ??
cannt see name ?!
@foofeo addendum: looks like its a bundled softsynth that you control remotely, not onboard. any onboard organ at all?!?!
How to split the keyboard???
great review !!!
How about the keyboard feel?
hey. thnx for the vedios.. i wanna buy one of dese bt i m confused bw max6 n juno gi or di.. which one would be better for live playin.??
Since this vid came out in 2011, what is newer and better in 2017?
Korg Kronos. Best. Board. Period.
Yeah, if you really want to compare with something 3x the price. :( be realistic man and compare it to the Krome then or an FA
I just checked out Korg Kronos videos. I did not like it, the sound of it. Btw I've got a Korg 01/W Pro, the big weighted model. I should get more sounds for it.
Can you transpose while playing? Like in voice mode as you play?

5:24 ok, that's what i wanted to listen!
Are there built in speakers?
Cara eu tenho uma intriga com os pianos acústicos da Yamaha não faz meu gosto com exessao do S90
Os CP sao melhores que o S90 teclas melhor mecanismo
Muito bom, meu proximo teclado :)
Only if all HW made had a vst for the HW it would kill softsynths.
agree 10000000%
@sonicstate No wonder they're going for $1000+ a piece then o.0
8 OSC per voice? ..... *drools*
Je l'ai depuis aujourdui !!!! hate de metriser la bete !!! Je vous tien au jus ! ;)
