This art style might be new to animated films but it isn't new. The guy didn't invent it. This is the style most acrylic characters would look like. Art styles can't be copyrighted anyway so it doesn't matter to credit other people. Yeah it can be annoying when people take a style you were doing that wasn't popular and become more famous but he is an artist so I doubt the fame is what motivates him. Still, your loyalty is what all artist want from people so for that you have my respect.

@@bleachedout805they were not talking about just the art style. if you actually spent 5 seconds googling, you would’ve found that he was the original art director for the spider verse film but Sony fired him basically out of nowhere and hired an entirely new team. The suicide scene/story is soo... real. I really like how there was no real "added" sound to the scene, the only sounds were the world turning and that's the harshest realisation you hit when you're that level of depressed and or lack of will to live. The thing that kills you is the realisation how insignificant you are, there's no motivational background music that starts, no random person coming to change your life, not even sad music or mourning environments to give you a satisfactory death.
The only thing there is the world around you, it's the same as before you were suicidal, maybe you were even happy. You realise nothing really changed at all and nothing is going to change from you ending your life. There's no bittersweet pondering or appreciation for what you've lived so far, it just hits you how everything is as it was before, the world just moves on. In fact I wonder if they could've played this emotion up even further to make it even more uncomfortable.
Either way, as someone who went through 5-6 years of suicidal tendencies, I really appreciate that. I'm fortunate I never took the very last step or was stopped in my tracks/attempts, but the emotions (or sometimes the lack thereof) in those moments are unforgettable. Everything becomes so horrifyingly serene, it's like you're trying to find the cracks in the world, the real flaws of it that no one but you know of, and how you're just the most unlucky one. But when you stand there it just hits you that you're just one of many and time is a constant. But the irony is that it's this serenity that makes the last step so easy to take once you've arrived, it's like some twisted form of enlightenment. It makes me wonder if some brains are just wired in a way that makes them more capable of suicide.
This entire short film is beautiful, I love that there's no one strong message or "moral of the story". It's just a collection of a bunch of experiences and emotions that many people go through. Sure some were more extreme so that maybe not exactly everyone could relate, but for the most part its emotions that are a part of all of our lives. It's really cool to see them represented this way.

I think what you just said and what the cafe man says at the end that “love is a secret society” is really interesting. it’s something that you can’t understand or feel until it happens to you, until you find that person you love, and that person finds you, then you’re part of that “society”. Until then, you’re left wondering by yourself if that will ever happen while you walk past many others who know how it feels and more.
Or maybe I’m just yappin lol. But your comment made me think about that since I’m one of them too. Hope you’re doing alright though.

As of late November last year, I found someone to join my journey; and I joined hers. We're very happy together. She rented her house out and moved in with me at the lake. We're both trades people that enjoy time off together. It's less than a year and I would feel lost without her.
We have each other, but notice that making new friends is a tall order. It's a tough crowd out there but we are positive, outgoing adults.

A great piece on showing some scenarios people searching for love, and many just seem lost. Is it a secret society, or something hid from some and revealed to others? Profound piece of art. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies,(they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Cor 13:4-8

When talent meets hard work, you have art that's unique. Our job as society is to recognize it when it happens and not let it drown in the shallowness that some people trying to force on this world.

Посмотрел первый раз - просто понравилось. Второй - заложил себе в голове визуальный образы, возникающие почти с любой близкой мне литературой. Третий раз - в слезы

What a great little film. I could be wrong, but its feels like real actors have been put through one of those apps that distort their features and make them into caricatures of themselves. That does take anything away from the quality though.... I loved it!

of course this animated short film won Oscar for this amazing direction, screen play that i love the most & every moment tell you a different kind of story. It reminds me of The Witness & Jibaro From the Love Death and Robot. This has something different to tell people about something. I'll save it for my as inspiration
