Last time I made cookies, I added the granulated sugar, to the eggs & butter, and then added the molasses & mixed… and it worked just fine. A small shortcut.
Krista, never worry that someone else has already made a particular subject/video because while yes there are many many videos on just about every topic there is, your particular viewers or subscribers may not have seen those other videos. Your subscribers are there to watch and learn from You, something they may not already know and they watch YOU to support you. I too have made a video on homemade brown sugar as well as powdered sugar (last year, I think) but our methods are different, neither being wrong. I personally only like light brown made ahead, which keeps well sealed up for a long time on the shelf. I only make dark brown on a per need basis. I eyeball drops, a little at a time until it's the color I want and I use a fork to blend it in, easy enough. I haven't bought brown sugar or powdered sugar in years. Great demo.😊
@@AlmostOffGridGrandmacre-zs5eu I did no need to buy brown sugar now also, next time I’m at the grocery store I’m going to look at the ingredients in their brown sugar and I can bet there’s lots of other stuff besides molasses. This is probably a much healthier way to go.
@@exploringmybackyard I will do the same and take a pic of the ingredients because no doubt I will have to look some of them up to see what they are, lol. Probably some sort of preserving agents 🤓For sure I would need my readers, lol.
❤❤ That is just awesome. What surprised me the most is when you said your daughters did not have a mixer it must be by choice.. That was very interesting.Thank you so much.I think I knew how to do that.I have never done it.I've made powdered sugar by just whirling my. Regular sugar a few times .. Thank you Joyce ❤My daughters never got into baking so much and I never had a mixer myself until after they moved on after college, so they didn't grow up with one. I did have a handheld mixer but that would be to fast for mixing molasses in sugar, lol. My KitchenAid does a nice job but not everyone has those. Have a blessed weekend 💕
❤ You have never had a kitchenaid.I've only had a hand mixer.I'm sure they would be handy but i've never really thought I would buy one always other things I thought I'd like..
@@Mrs.Peachthriftyliving I've had 2 separate surgeries on my wrists for carpal tunnel syndrome so that was my main reason for getting one that was on sale. Plus I use it for mixing dough to make bread. I love my little hand held mixer though. Thanks for sharing ❤

Thanks for your observation and you are correct. I will not be changing the camera, as this is the best set up for me at this time using what I have. Enjoy your evening 🙂
Molasses is still affordable at least at Costco but other stores have gone crazy with pricing. Brown sugar prices are getting ridiculous. Have a fantastic weekend 💕and I hope your ribs are feeling better sistah 🙏
Hello and welcome 🙂It's just that simple and many people don't know which is why I'm sharing. I'm glad you found it useful. Homemade brown sugar tastes so much better than store bought 👍Thanks for your support.
Hi Krista. Even though I've know how to make brown sugar, I've never done it. So thanks for the tutorial and I'll try it ext time I need some. I imagine the cookies would taste a little different to when made with homemade brown sugar. Yumm!
@@HamiltonHomestead There is a difference between black strap and fancy molasses however. Fancy is extracted earlier in the boiling process and is sweeter and black strap is extracted in the final stage and is thicker, darker and more concentrated. The taste is stronger and more bitter. Not sure if that makes a difference to the plant. Do you know?
Hi Shellia 🙂Thanks for sharing this information because I didn't know that. It's still in my cupboard, so it will end up in cookies or a ginger cake 🎂😋I love ginger 🥰
True. I used the last of a bottle of molasses for a pumpkin pie I made last week. It was over a decade old. If I remember correctly, it was 17 years old. I don't use very much molasses.😂

I get molasses from sugar cane, i should make a video when its season here.
I would love to see that video, yes please, lol.
Molasses is so good for you. AND, it’s good for plants!
That makes sense because it came from a plant. How do you feed your plants with it? That I haven't heard of before.
@@HamiltonHomestead I think we probably should, lol. I think you do a different ratio of yeast though, not sure.
