I fucking love this song & the video. The sarcasm is deep.

Lily Allen possesses the wit to match her candor. The sonic hints later in the song suggest "Super Freak" by Rick James. When you're ready for more from her, check out her debut single "Smile" from 2006. Dig the rocksteady!

If you have ever seen the movie "Hustle and Flow", that's why you recognize this song.

The sample you are thinking of is "Super Freak" by Rick James. It's not exactly a sample. It's almost the same but she's changed the notes slightly so it's not exactly a sample but a close variation of the original. It's definitely close enough on purpose because she wants you to know where it came from.

I really love Lily Allen, hadn't hears this one, just her older stuff... but she's never hidden her feelings 🖤
(I don't think I care too much for this one to be completely real, but she's worth checking on in general)

I enjoy Lily. She has things to say, wether agreeable or not. But it is crazy to think that’s where a woman in the Industry’s head was and where we are now. All the fears in the songs, they’ve been replaced with ownership and it’s more extreme than ever. You’d hope for progress rather than an acceptance of what’s expected and capitalising off of that.

Agree about the video, she actually got backlash for some of the reasons you mentioned. The album was also a bit of a letdown after previous amazing album, “It’s Not Me, It’s You.”

Lily Allen has always taken a cynical, satirical swipe at current trends in her lyrics. She doesn't necessarily solve the issues with a song, but she should be applauded for dealing with them imo. Hard Out Here became the most watched pop video worldwide of that year. The balloons are a pisstake of the balloons in Blurred Lines. Yes, she did get some stick for featuring the same things she was complaining about, but I felt at the time that that backlash was media generated because they didn't like being criticised.

Exuberant production, smooth rhymes. I think it would have been better without the chorus being repeated at the end

Love Lilly Allen, not this song though. Try Smile, F#€k you, never gonna happen, Alfie, Fear or who’d have known. Also on the Pink track of True love, really good!! Thanks for your reactions ! So fun!! 💕

I like the lyrics, not so sure about the song AND the video. I get where she's coming from though but yeah...

I think this video would have been better had she put male dancers in the background being sexualized like women are. Madonna usually has male dancers which is great because it's usually women. I like the sentiment of the song though and I appreciate what Lily is putting out. I think she's great. The video just needs work
