I always think that flares or a wide leg look the most elegant. Probably because they are closer in fit and silhouette to tailored trousers. Whereas I always think that skinny jeans don't look smart at all as they are closer in silhouette to leggings. And I always think a dark wash is smarter than a light wash.
I've gone off jeans completely lately. I was a landscaper most of my life and am of the age that has seen every variation of jeans, so they were always a staple. Now I wear scrubs at home- always look nice and easy to clean and last forever!- but for leaving the house it's a straight skirt, loafers and a pima sweater, which was the uniform of my teen years :)
I never joined the ripped jeans trend, I always thought it looked off. However, I do have a couple of pairs of raw hemmed jeans but they are very subtle not with chucks missing at the bottom, only wear them for a very casual look now.
Gemma❤❤ great timing on this video! I’m thinking about outfits for the fall and recently I purchased a pair of Hudson denim jeans. They were on clearance. The fit is what sold me. I work too hard on my body being healthy that when I can,I like to show off my attributes. Shoes with any outfit can make or break it. Wishing you well as always ❤❤
Hi Gemma, I do not like to wear jeans but feel I may sometime need to wear them so this video was a big help. I think the darker wash is nicer as well as a slimmer tennis shoe. I like the idea of a blazer with the jeans too. Your video really helped me narrow down what I may need to purchase but since I really don't like jeans I'll limit it to two jeans. (one skinny jean and one straight or slightly wide leg. Thank you!!.
Are you still loving your new haircut? I think it is so beautiful on you. Love the top you are wearing. I agree that ripped jeans are not very elegant. Jeans, bathing suits, and bras are probably the most challenging clothing items to try on and find the fit that is suitable, in my opinion. Thanks for your styling tips.
😀 I’m still loving my shorter hair, it’s so easy to manage now. The only thing I miss is being able to tie it up properly so it’s off my neck especially when it’s hot but I’m getting used to it 😀
5:50 this graphic you included is spot on and such a simple visual to explain proportions! Almost no words needed. I definitely love experimenting with juxtaposition with jeans for an elegant yet casual and wearable look for everyday. The slouchy Jean is very trendy right now and carrying longer than I think most thought. Must be careful with that one. I can’t wear jeans right now because I’m in mid second trimester pregnancy 😅. But love my jeans otherwise!
I don't want to wear skinny jeans, I would like jeans that are form fitting at the top and lose on the bottom. What cut or style of jeans should I look at?
Afternoon Gemma If i wear jeans, they're black or navy. No rips ( they scream mid life crisis, or Jeremy Kyle show ) I still wear skinny, cos i like them. Wide ones, or flares, remind me of people who iron creases, and wear nylon knickers 😀😀😀 Great vid, love your top, it looks stunning xx 😘
Blue jeans will NEVER look elegant on a woman because they were made for 19th-century gold miners in California. It was a rough material made for men who had demanding jobs.
I totally agree with you, Gemma. I love darker wash jeans and I've never understood the appeal of ripped jeans. It just looks sloppy and silly to me.

Love your hair - modern chic, and youthful 🎁
Thank you 😊
Great video. Jeans that drag on the floor or ripped look sloppy and in my opinion no one with class would wear either.
Got rid of all my ripped jeans months ago. I can’t believe I ever wore them. Ugh!
O boy
I cut mine into shorts where they were ripped. Works well for working in the yard etc

Absolutely! I don’t blame you wanting to show it off if you’ve worked hard to keep it looking good
Hate ripped jeans, not elegant at all. Love your videos. Blessings.

I love my skinny jeans with and without boots. I just recently lost 45 lbs so I’m glad that I can wear them now.
M&S have some v stylish sling back, kitten heels currently. They look amazing with jeans & come in a few colours.
I always prefer to dress and look elegant over trendy. Great video!
You look so effortlessly chic but comfortable.
So glad you've changed your mind about ripped jeans, Gemma. Your advice is second to none.
I love your new hair cut. Gorgeous!
Thanks Virginia it’s certainly much easier to manage 💕
Luv the hairstyle! 👍🏼 Lifts your whole face :) :) :) Inspiration for fall "update"! 😊
Thank u! I live in jeans!
I love your videos. Do you have any suggestions for short height dressing style?
Simplicity is key 🙂
Hi Gemma, love the two toned shoes you are wearing with the Lily Silk Trench Coat. Could you tell me where they are from please?
Hi there, the shoes are from marks and spencer but they’re a few years old I’m afraid
Hi Gemma would you please make a video about elegant waybti wear sneakers? Thank you😊

Wide leg
Blue jeans has what went wrong.
I agree 100% Gemma😀💕
I must say I love jeans straight or skinny leg, but have to leave wide leg to young slim girls being short waisted they make me look ‘chunky’
Me too
I like dark jeans best but ripped ones are hideous. Why would anyone want to wear them. On young bad enough but on older women a definite nono.
Can I ask how tall you are please?
certainly I'm 5'6"
