Hello everyone, thank you so much for the support on this video! I wasn’t sure if putting this out there would be a good idea, but it definitely has! Ive been going through and reading each and every one of your comments and seeing your guy’s opinions, so thank you! Anyways, the reason of me writing this. CRAZYBLOX has listened! He had announced that highlights and community permanent will be changing going forward, so we’ll have to see what happens 👀
Hey Chris, thank you very much for speaking out. As someone who's been part the FE2 community since late 2017, I fully agree with your points and I relate with you very much. Ever since Rustic Jungle released, my motivation on playing the game has gradually declined. As a content creator, recording gameplay footage now feels exhausting, especially on Crazy/Crazy+ maps. The map voting process and cooldowns along with the huge pool of maps make frustratingly difficult to play a specific map even once. With that, this is inspiring me to make a video with my own take on this issue. Good luck Chris!
I am here before the video is public. I am Chris Semler's friend and I agree with most of the things mentioned here 👍 I hope people actually watch through the video and don't mindlessly skip through it or just stop after the first 1-2 minutes of it
wassup, commenting before vid goes public This definitely covers all the issues I also have with the game, and I think that the main problem for me is here to stay, highlights used to feel really special but now they just get slapped on with the gazillion other maps in the game which leads to people forgetting about them I'm also not really a huge fan of Crazyblox getting rid of the "one map per day" idea when it was the first week of a new month as it gave a chance for lower difficulty maps to be in the spotlight, we all know that a good bunch of the community only cares for Crazy & Crazy+ maps (I think it would've been better off to not introduce Crazy+ highlights btw) the game sits at around 200-600 players on average, and I really think its going to die off in 2025, as much as I really like this game, and how I've grown a fanbase on it, I don't rlly know what to say anymore lol I really do believe that there isn't much to save the game at this point but I'd like to be surprised, it would be really good to see something change for the better There are some things I wanna say about what I want to do next for music, I really do want to slowly move on to another game besides FE2, as you mentioned in the video about Block Tales, back in June I wanted to see if I could get in contact with some of the devs, when the game was still growing rapidly, but that felt like kind of a stretch, although if there was a game id love to compose for then that would be it FE2 OST's have felt like a chore for over a year now, but I always love to see everyone's reactions and support I get from doing so, I'm not quitting, but I've been slowing down on making them for a while

@@hwrnumberit’s basically the same reason that Chris described It became too much to keep up with and was also just a large spike from crazy difficulty
While I am incredibly grateful to have garnered my platform thanks to this game, seeing the under-performance on the new permanent maps is really upsetting to me. I can only hope that FE2 gets a revamp or just a new game at this point in it's life (looking at you FE:Hybrid)
Honestly, the highlights and the perm community maps were really... not good to say the least. While sure it adds a way to make people get a higher platform and develop themselves on Roblox, it lowers down and drags the worth of actual base maps. I miss when having a new FE2 map was an experience. It's sad this is never happening again and it was one thing that was keeping the game alive that was substituted by highlights later on becoming perm maps. I am sorry but it lowered the game standards and everything that was considered high quality that was built from 2017-2023.
Wanted to put this here before the video goes public Thx for this Chris, speak for all of us lol. FE2 Really needed a voice out there and I'm glad you took up the job, perfect man for it I'm super happy to spill all my points right into this comment section, and with a lack of explanation of my own career drop I guess I'll fill the gap in right here. Jeez this video genuinely hit deep knowing how far we've come from FE2. I almost didn't want to watch it. But yeah, you covered everything that needs to be said. Even though I never had a cold shoulder for crazy+ maps, I think along with the six perm's a month, FE2's player graph has quite literally been in a steady decline since June. Here to stay was arguably the kickstarter, but the continuation of maps every month was set up for failure. Not jumping to the conclusion that highlights should stop dead and center was a good choice of yours. I think highlights wake up a creative side of the community and are a huge motivation for people to make maps. This of course brings up the opposite effect, but I still think the aspect and idea of highlights could hold strong if implemented correctly. I think the issue isn't highlights becoming old, the issue is the mass number of them. If we got, let's say, two highlights every three months or something, it would 1. Cost less, 2. Retain the hype, 3. Become less work for crazyblox, and 4. Of course, feel fresh. They're calling "highlights" for a reason, right? It feels more like a compilation now. I'd also like to talk about why I quit too, because I don't think highlights really killed the game :P The nature of FE2 was always run on a community-ran system and those don't last forever in a smaller community too. When I first made an FE2 video I knew in the back of my mind I'd run out of them eventually, and it seems the time has come which you implied in your video. Crazyblox miiight be on the wrong mindset that highlights keep the game alive, which well we've already gone over. But I'll give him leeway and say that the nature of a game like FE2 would eventually lose it's popularity, though I'm not denying that perm CM maps sped up the process. I'm trying my best to not be part of the crowd and surround all my points in the negative because god damn I love this game and want to focus on it's hope. Really hoping this video gets forwarded to the big chairs because me, you and these comments want this game to end up in a better place. We really do and I personally believe it can. I am relieved you considered this in your script of this video. Great points Chris! Thanks for standing up for us and giving me a space to bundle my own thoughts in XP
When I stumbled upon this game back in like 2018, I honestly never thought I’d be playing it on and off for the next 6 years or so. I remember when beneath the ruins came out and when the vip gamepass dropped. I begged my dad for robux so I could buy it cause I wanted to use the insane lock (nostalgia) to play more insane maps. When blue moon and poisonous chasm came out, everybody, including me, was so excited for a new challenge. I quit the game in 2020 a little after poisonous chasm came out, and when I came back in 2023, it was like an entirely different game. There were so many crazy maps, and honestly, I loved it. I loved the challenge, and avm really felt like the perfect hardest map for the game. But then after beating most of the crazy maps except for ssr, I quit again. Then I came back to the game in August 2024, and saw that there were CRAZY+ maps now. So I started practicing them. My first one was cma, and then I beat desert ruins. Eventually, I ended up beating all of the crazy+ maps, but I wanted something harder. That’s what led me to the fe2 top community maps list. I started doing a bunch of 6.9s and low extremes. I ended up beating drainpipe stream, nuclear depths, agitato 3.0, and finally, ascension to heaven. But now, I don’t really know what to do anymore in the game. I’ve basically done everything I wanted to do in fe2 and more. As for my thoughts on the video, I understand your feelings entirely. While I like the highlight system, it doesn’t bring any excitement. The highlighted maps feel ordinary when they should feel special and interesting. It doesn’t help that most of the highlights and crazy+ maps are straight up mid af and honestly not that fun to play. Rj was not a good choice for the first crazy+ map, it’s so unbelievably underwhelming because of the boring decoration and learny cause of the long jumps. I don’t mind spending large amounts of time on a map, but there being no practice in cm really makes it a chore to beat. We’ve also been missing out on some really good maps like nuclear blizzard to highlight (thanks coolzak). But honestly, the main reason I think this game is dying is because the game is just too hard to get into. For example, even beating castle tides solo isn’t easy if you don’t know where to go. It doesn’t help that most normal servers are always locked on the insane difficulty, which pushes away anybody who is trying the game for the first time. The community is also in a terrible state, and map makers are constantly quitting because of the hate they receive on their maps. As much as I don’t like it, this game is dead, and it’s probably too late at this point to revive it. Once I’ve beaten sand pillar, I’m going to dabble in map making, and that’s probably going to be it. I’m glad for the memories this game has made for me, and I hope that flood escape hybrid brings something fresh and new to the table, but it’s probably time to move on with my life.
Another point is that crazyblox couldn't realise that with the game being an obby type, it is obvious that people would be trying to get as perfect as possible, looking for every possible loophole in game mechanics. Once you are able to complete all of the maps effortlessly, you are starting to speedrun those, look for every possible time save, look for more windows where you could improve on those maps you play, and here we had the unintended mechanics that allowed you to do so. It was such a joy to breakdown maps to every single part, look for all possible shortcuts and time saves with wallhops, clips, backjumps and other glitches, it was the best thing about fe2 for me compared to any other obby type game, like for a ton of other overdedicated people. Yet, crazyblox just decided that the glitching community was only causing harm to the community and decided to 'casualise' the game, removing every hard unintended mechanic, removing all windows for improvement for hardcore players. It was just sad to see that developer just abandoned their speedrunning/hardcore/grind/glitch communities, making me eventually quit the game forever, just like a good number of other people. But with tria.os 1.0 release, I am quite back to fe genre ❤
Daily Flood Escape 2 player here, FE2 has been such a great game for me but I do feel like I don't try to survive most of the maps. My focus rate has became very low and that's probably because of the muscle memory I have with every maps. What I like about it is the details of every maps and how creative thoes builders are and don't get me started with the songs.
I haven't watched you before but this was super relatable. Whatever content you want to make moving forward, I'm sure people will support you no matter what you choose, and this is just a process that sadly but naturally kind of happens to games and people who play these games as time goes on, only amplified by the audience that you built your channel on Great vid
To be honest, the "Here to Stay" update was what made me stop playing main FE2 as a whole. First is the voting system. I agree with the whole over-saturation thing. It has become very difficult for me to record FE2, one is just like you said with how I've been playing this game for over 6 years, there isn't really much exciting thing I can do that I haven't already done. The maps difficulties have exponentially increased to the point I can't beat most of any of the popular difficult maps starting from 2 years ago. Even if I do beat them, not a lot of people cared, and viewers aren't as high. I have been considering moving on from FE2, but I'm not sure what. The games I'm interested in now are vastly different from FE2, and not even Roblox, so it's hard to bring old audience over. I do still enjoy occasionally playing the game with a few friends, but rarely.
@@RichardiOS275 id suggest staying in the realm of roblox since I feel like it would be easier to transfer your audience over. Also Ty for commenting, I remember watching you in 2020 🙏
Thank you for making this vid Chris :) This was a really well done commentary, and I’m so excited to see where you go with the channel! It really is a shame how over saturated and overwhelming the highlights have become. I can personally relate to this as I’m also drowning in STEM work, and the feeling FE2 gives off where it feels mandatory to finish every map. I rllyyyy hope FE2 goes thru a system revamp this year :( On the bright side we can’t wait to see what other games you introduce into the channel!! :D
Crazyblox seems to be taking the best steps possible by acknowledging he saw this video and delayed the highlights, it seems larger changes ARE coming to the system :>
I would hate to say that I agree but I truly do, I see myself playing this game less and less as the months come and go. I feel like highlights were fine themself but after the Here To Stay update and they'd be confirmed to be a CM perm, the game started to get really overloaded with content, to the point were perm maps don't feel as special as they did a year ago. I do agree with what Chris has to say here so I'd recommend watching the whole video. I just wanted to speak what I think about this.
As someone who's been here for 3-4 years, it has been such a wild ride, but I think there's a point in life where it's gotten incredibly stale. The game has shown me new and innovative ways to pursue more creative ideals, and I thank Crazy for that. I also thank those I found friendship with for constantly letting me try newer ideas and seeing the incredible talent the community has, and whilst I've reached that ending point, I feel like it's a good ending point. The amount of downs and ups 2024 had for FE2 was rough, like the oversaturated highlights, Crazy+ highlights being extremely rough, and more. However, I owe my entire creative process to everyone I met and talked with. But yeah, this game has gotten really badly stale, and I do think FE2 has a chance to rebound, just not that confident it could happen. If maybe Crazy+ highlights were 2 months instead of one, it would help tremendously. Also, the amount of highlight perms needs to dwindle a little bit because holy hell 70+ maps per year is really complicated, to the point I even forget certain maps existed in this program. Before this ultimately goes public, I wish for 2025 to be a good conclusion for me for FE2 and whatnot. Sure, I'll stick with this community, but I will most likely be less active overall, so that should be fun! Thanks for the wonderful year Chris, and cheers for the next! - Sharax
Commenting on this before it goes public, I agree not even 2 minutes in, FE2 is still an amazing game but it definitely has become stale for me, especially as I've been playing since 2017. I've been slowly branching out to other games and so far I've succeeded so far in one. I remember when AVM was highlighted and permanent and we flipped our shit, recording the moments and having a hell of a time beating it, but it was all super fun and honestly really great! I was happy about a remake of my map getting in, but now it feels kind of mellow, nothing as crazy as it was almost 2 years ago now. I hope FE2 continues on and something changes in the future. Here To Stay was at first really great, but now it's just not good. The hype died down with the oversaturation, just hope things change! Been great to be in your old videos!
Tbh I was expecting this vid for awhile now, especially yesterday I was thinking about when you’re going to talk about it lol I completely agree with everything you said thatI dont even have anything more to say now lol :,) I quit the game awhile ago and I find it really boring now, i was surprised how you still make fe2 vids too! But still I’m really excited for what’s coming next and i’ll still watch your vids and support you even if its not about fe2 anymore since you really inspired me and made me so happy during my hard times Take care and I cant wait for whatever’s coming !! :)) (Im still not that good at english im so sorry if this doesnt make sense)
i actually quit fe2 in late 2023. i came back to it in late 2024, early 2025, and half of the maps that were there i didn’t know i was actually flabbergasted, there were way too many new maps im probably going to be more active in the community after a 1 year break, but i don’t know if it’ll cease to exist by the end of this year
Seeing Chris play some other games would be nice. Don’t feel like your so restrained from doing other things, branching out and extending the community here is awsome and I’ll be watching all those videos.
I agree with all your points. Part of what made crazy maps special is how little they were compared to the other difficulties. There were only a handful of maps that were the hardest to beat, which is what made every crazy map hype, because the other crazy maps set the standard for new maps on the roster.
i don’t think fe2 is entirely dying out, i just think the community is full of veterans that have been playing for years and have been getting tired of the game, the game is one of the most creative games on the platform but like with practically any game, you’ll lose interest. The main problem with this is that everybody has come to a consensus that the game is boring now just because everybody in the community is saying so, I haven’t played the game to grind since I got banned. FE2 will always hold a special place in my heart but I think the recent influx of creators leaving the community has left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Overall, I think the game is doing fine right now, it’s just overshadowed by many new games, especially tria and the community being, well, the FE2 community.
Completely understandable 💯 as soon as the many highlighted maps became perm it felt like FE2 was becoming more like FE2CM. FE2 hasn’t had any actual game changing features besides the addition of new maps and decorative items etc. I’m wondering if the last cool update we had was the sliding mechanics 😭 maybe you could make music lol. Idk, it would be cool to see that from you 😭💯
I agree with this video, especially with the highlights. I think the main reason that highlights seem dull now is that they are getting repetitive, ever since they started adding 6 highlights a month (1 map per difficulty) I think the weekly highlights were atleast better because they had variation. It didn’t matter what difficulty the past highlights from the previous weekend were, which meant that we didn’t know whether it would be an easy map, or a crazy map. That gave us some form of a hype I guess. Another thing is that, since every month a map of each difficulty comes out, it can be easy to crack down on which maps are highlighted, especially crazy+ maps, which not a lot of people are making nowadays compared to the other difficulties. Honestly I think crazy+ highlights were a slight mistake, I’ve seen nothing but hate for them in public servers. That’s all I have to say pretty much.
Gotta just say, I completely agree with this video, one of the big reasons im quitting. The game isnt fun at all , it all feels oversaturated, and playing maps every month feeling like i have to beat all the maps, the games current state and communitys state really just have stopped me from enjoying the game, crazy+ even though i like difficulty is just TOO MUCH. the community attacking map makers like me when all im doing is doing stuff for fun also hurts, criticsm hurts and i really dont want to anymore, i dont like it, something that earlier this year was a way of expressing myself now just feels like being happy with my work just for someone to ruin all my self esteem. people in this community are also disgusting which is something ive realised more and more the further ive got into this community. people i used to call friends that i now dont know if i ever want to see again, i hate how split the community is and how people just cant stop finding things to argue about i havent had fun with this game and just felt oblligated to make maps or play this game. amazing video that i honestly completely agree with sorry for my shitty english :C
I completely agree with this entire video. I was grinding for hours on every Crazy+ map, but like you said, I don’t want to sit there for hours. Every time new highlights, I don’t even smile or touch the game. I’ve been playing FE2 since I was 11 years old, and at 18 years old now, I don’t want to sit here and play anymore at all. But I come back after a few days and post a video since I can’t give up on my favorite childhood game. Thank you for making this video. You made me put my true thoughts out here.
omg i relate to this alot this is why i am taking an indefinite break from this game and other games such average plate gaem are my game bc they are ACTUALLY random events that require MEDIUM skill
Hey Chris, I fully understand where you are coming from. I'm taking a break from FE2 because of the same reason as you. It has been exhausting to try top beat the latest crazy & Crazy+ maps. So now I really just play FE2 when my friends are playing it. But my problems aside, I'm glad you've opened up to your audience and told us how you really felt. I'm also excited for the videos that you have coming up next! Good luck, Chris!
i agree most with you on the oversaturation facts. this also made me quit fe2 just before the current highlights were added and it slowly made me lose interest having to learn all maps constantly
I agree with this video entirely. I was even a bit skeptical about the introduction of the highlight system, but the experience ended up being a little better than I thought it would. When here to stay was announced, I immediately went back to how I felt when highlights were first added, and the feeling of oversaturation that came with it never left. I also think rustic jungle is way too difficult for what should have been the first crazy+, and while I'm not entirely opposed to the crazy+ highlight system, I do think it needs to be slowed down A LOT. As for other difficulties, I would say it might be a good idea to reduce the amount of maps being highlighted by at least half. I also think that map making is one of the most fun things this game has to offer, but it also comes with harsh criticism and the possibility that you go unrecognized after all the effort you put in. I'm just hoping that eventually crazyblox makes an excellent decision that can somehow save the game. Until then, I'm just going to be disappointed seeing the player base whittle down.
As someone who played around release and has been an FE2CM (then, FE2 MapTest) only player ever since early-mid 2018, i feel like i should write this essay: I encountered myself in a similar state way back then in 2018 when i beat all the maps the main game had to offer and got bored quickly. However, when i discovered FE2 MapTest everything changed, and this became pretty much the main game I play in my life (with few others as background over the years). Ever since that, i've supported the idea that FE2 MapTest was a much better game and had much more potential than the main one as i knew that eventually, because of the way the main game is structured it would die out no matter the frequency of added maps or content. So i never really understood why Crazyblox didn't see it, as something similar on a much bigger scale already existed (Geometry Dash) and has been working for over a decade now, even if it didn't get new game features for years. And the reason for that is very simple, GD always had a growing community because it's centered around community creations and the developer has been making the game with that idea since the early updates, always thinking about tools that his community could use to it's maximum potential because there's always "those guys" that are literal creative wizards, so much that it got to a point where he could comfortably let off the game for 5+ years and it would still thrive and have innovative creations as the level editor got so complex it had endless possibilities. FE2 could've took the same path, if Crazyblox focused on making FE2 MapTest an ACTUAL playable game with features such as XP/levels, shop items, achievements etc (player-progression stuff) and like/dislike, community ratings for difficulty, speedrun leaderboards etc (player interactive features) , i can't truly say the game would've had 50k+ average players, but i'm *sure the game would be in a far better state than it is currently*, even with that 2019-2021 phase where we had no new game mechanics and little to no updates, because if the game was built this way it wouldn't really matter as long as people had the creative freedom to develop whatever they wished, there would always be new content and you could play the game at whatever pace you've felt like with no time pressure that hightlights brought, and no tedious grinding that votes brought. And that would only be the beginning actually , as this idea can be expanded upon stuff like, just to name a few, "map packs", (compilations of 3-5 maps scaling up in difficulty that a player could beat to receive awards) some sort of story mode within FE2CM that would bring you to a different game where you had to beat Timelines (10-12 maps) that would tell stories and there could've been multiple chapters, a daily/weekly/monthly map system, whatever, you name it. There could've been so much more to this game man, it always saddened me to see how sustainable and great of a community we built over the years, even with all the situations we faced such as the EventString period, the overly extremely low effort and difficult buffs, the audio removal update, the developer facing difficulties irl etc, and yet still, i've always felt like these talents were wasted into "Just a game where you can play community made maps". By now tho, you've probably noticed that i've been referencing a specific game that recently came out and handles FE2 the exact way i've always wished for, and yes, i think currently TRIA.os will eventually surpass FE2 at some point, that is, if it hasn't already lol. Sorry for the GIGANTIC yap, but i've always held this in mind for years, but never really mustered the courage to express this somewhere. Regarding Crazy+, i think it depends on the overall playerbase/majority of it are able to beat higher-end maps, because some people just likes to challenge themselfs with harder maps (no matter the quality as we've seen it...) and that's just natural as you get better at the game, then there shouldn't be a "final difficulty" (using TRIA.os as an example, i've noticed that there is a significant group that are able to beat Eternal maps, so therefore, Eternal should be a valid difficulty, but not anything above it until said significant group are able to beat 8.0+ maps) however we are all aware there will be a human limit at some point lol.
commenting after this gets published: honestly, this is understandable. FE2 has been really dry lately, and i understand why you have so much demotivation for making videos and such on the game. as someone who’s switched content styles more than once within 5 years, i hope everything goes well for you, and i hope you continue to find success in your career. thanks for making the best out of it, Chris. cya on the flipside!
Yet another comment before this goes public. You've hit the nail on the head here. Its sad that before, maps being highlighted was the coolest things ever. I remembered one of my biggest dreams was to get a highlight, and that love is just gone. It's disappointing and overwhelming. I don't think ive been trying out to beat these hard maps- or any maps- in so long. Crazy+ ruined the vibe to me, where I don't have fun doing main game fe2 anymore. Its depressing to see a large game like this die. As a person who's known fe2 since like 2015/2016, watching it fall into this state of abandoment is really terrible to see. I'm glad I met you, albeit it was on the tail end of fe2's lifespan. And I really am excited to see where you take your channel from here. Sure, you'll have your fe2 maps, but I'm really excited and curious if you'll also find a new niche or game you really enjoy, just like a bunch of us have. Keep on mapmaking, I wonder what this new map of yours is going to be, and Here's to 2025, wherever it takes us.
These points are perfectly fair. As a somewhat skilled player (my highest is a 6.9), I have to say that I have grown tired of the game, and especially of Crazy+. I didn't like the difficulty to begin with, and I have been trying to get recordings of every c+ with a rescue for a video, and yet I'm stuck trying to get recordings for Rustic Jungle and Desert Ruins because of how horrible the truss jump in the former and thw entirety of the latter are. You speak for a lot of us, and I especially relate to the part about making maps being a good way to have fun with this bloated game. Good luck with your future content and be sure to take some breaks every now and again.
I feel like Crazyblox’s blatant desperation to get this game back is ultimately what caused it’s downfall. I agree that there’s way too much to do, and playing new highlights feels like a chore rather than a choice. I feel like there could’ve been a few simple and easy ways that could’ve potentially gotten this game back on track, but it feels like Crazyblox is thinking that more is better, and it feels like it’s too late.
Commenting before the video goes public. Flood Escape 2 has been part of my life for 7 years, but I've felt that as early as mid-late 2023 that the game really had nowhere else to go. After highlights, I was looking forward to new major features after Highlights (& Crazy+ ig)... but nothing. (and Timelines definitely made things a lot worse) Over-saturation definitely negatively affected this game. I liked Here To Stay, but the addition of 6 maps per month from that point on definitely killed the hype for highlights. I also don't like how Crazy+ was handled, like you said it fractured the community. I have many personal and anecdotal stories surrounding Crazy+ from myself and many others, much of it filled with frustration, distaste, or apathy towards such difficult maps. Crazy+ should've stayed in FE2CM, or at the very least, not gotten any highlights. If you were to continue Flood Theory, the 2053 episode would be the safest bet. Not to be egotistical, but that story is pretty much finished, and there's not much that will change about its lore in the next couple of months. This year, I was involved with many projects, ranging from Castle of Calamity, remaking the Map Making Kit, and of course, Boltzone. This community is filled with so much creativity, expressed through maps, videos, etc. I've made memories with friends in the community, with all of the collaborations, recordings, streams and such. After all that I've done, I really don't have anything left to do for this game, I've done all that I wanted to. Like you, I also want to move forward into new territory and try something new!! Wish you good luck on your future endeavors Chris!!
Hey Chris, I didn’t know you were playing this for so long and I didn’t know who you were until I found out you were a peak FE2 RUclipsr (For example: Ev_n, RYalbern, luxTypes, BoonMoon, and Foptoodle). Plus, it’s good to finally see you back after playing this game for so long, I respect you and your maps forever. Deep down in my heart, the other RUclipsrs and composers of FE2 would be proud of what you’ve done in the FE2 community, even the players in TRIA would be proud too. Good luck Chris and thank you for talking to us on this video. I respect everything you just said on this video. Appreciate it. - Elb6 (deluxe)
I do agree with you on how stale FE2 has become especially with the highlights. I might make my own video on my overall thoughts abt the highlights system in general. I would like to see what other content you're gonna do besides fe2. Other than that, nice video chris!
I was really waiting for someone to speak out about this meanwhile also giving reasons as to why. In my personal opinion i think that maps should just get highlighted every once in a while instead of the usual "every month", I don't know why i thought of this but i just think it'd give players more time to beat maps that are difficult, it'd also give players time to just take it in and breathe so that way they are ready for the next highlights if they are willing to try and beat them all.
sup, FE2 was the game that made me get to the state I am on at this point. Especially because of you. You inspired me a bunch, and I agree with a bunch of stuff that you said in the video. You were the one who inspired me a lot. You are my goat, Thanks for being in this community ❤. BlueTheRF
It’s crazy to see you speak on it because it’s true, I play on Xbox and after beating active volcanic mines I felt fulfilled and I was extremely happy, I take a break for like 2 months and all the sudden there’s rustic jungle and I just can’t keep up anymore tbh so I just slowly started playing the game less and less, hopefully something happens and maybe one day I’ll find joy in the game again, looking forward to seeing you play new games on the channel!
1:49 this is actually mostly related to a question I asked Chris in a community post of his a while back. I totally agree with what he is saying here. More maps doesn't mean better game, that just means less fun. I just want to play fe2 without having to be bombarded by highlights that take up to a month to beat, only to be greeted by new highlights as soon as I beat the old ones due to the fact that there's just so many maps at once it's hard to find thr map that you are attempting at.
I could never grasp the reason why I stopped playing/making fe2 content, but this video sums it up perfectly. FE2 is a great game at heart, but as 2024 proceeded, Crazyblox's schemes of attempting to revive the game just didn't work and only made the game less fun. The Here to Stay update sounded good on paper, and despite it still being cool when it released, as time when on, there were just too many maps to go through when playing the game. And I agree with you on the addition to crazy+. In my opinion, crazy+ is just fine in Community Maps because I believe there are some people who do enjoy crazy+ maps. But there are other people who don't, so it really leaves these mixed opinions from the community on whether or not crazy+ was a good idea. On that note, you made some really, really good points in this video. And I'm very interested in what the future of your channel will hold.
I started playing the game recently (October 2024), so I have a whole other take on this issue. I personally love the fact that new maps are being added at this pace. 5 per month, then they are added back a while later as a cm perm. It is a great mix of "this map is special this month" without feeling like it will be gone forever. It's a constant and sustainable stream of content that feels like the natural way the game should evolve. It's far better than not increasing the map pool, that's for sure. Also, I haven't found it too hard to keep track of all the maps in the game, I could probably beat any 1-4 star from memory. Also, the perm maps don't get overshadowed by the cm maps either, due to how frequently they show up in votes, which is good. That counts for the 2 new perms, which do feel more special to me. I also really like the c+ difficulty. Crazy feels like the hardest you can get without practice and time, so every c+ map feels as daunting to beat as it feels special. It kinda feels like how people used to hate the demon difficulty in Geometry Dash, before people got used to locking down and beating something they first thought was too hard. I do wish there was a better way to practice (cm servers are great and people should use them more, but still), I wish RJ was a better map, and I wish pro lobbies weren't just c+ spam, but overall those are just small side effects of a great difficulty in my eyes. I do think FE2 is dying as of now. That's because all of the older creators are starting to get tired and leave, while there isn't a huge influx of new players. I have no problem with people leaving, you shouldn't force yourself to not have fun. However, if we can get a steady stream of new players who, like me, are used to the new content style, I'm sure FE2 could be bigger and better than it's ever been. The problem isn't the game itself, as much as it is a problem of legacy vs change, which is something that can be overcome.
I would just like to say that, play whatever you want. Don't feel pressured to continue FE2 videos, I'm fine with any game as long as you are enjoying what you are playing.
Thank you for this insight of FE2! This really points out and represents many of players's opinions about the game, and shows how much you care about the game & community, suggesting improvements to make fe2 enjoyable like it was back then I think it's turning into Geometry dash, from what it was used to be an actual flood escaping game, strict pacing and intense difficulties & high quality maps / levels. Been playing FE2 since 2019, dark sci facility was the hardest map back then. The thing about FE2 I love is that the community can make their own maps, which enables us to make our imaginary maps come true, and even recognized by many others, getting highlighted if it's really good. That introduced me to roblox studio and basic developing, I thank this game so much. FE2 used to have thousands of players around when blue moon came out, and I think the reason of few players online is that the game became too hard for beginners, so they would rage quit before knowing the fun of this game. Crazy should add tutorials and chill mode back to have beginner players back, which would keep first timers in the game. Though I watch your channel for fe2 videos, it's your choice to change the focus to other games!
Been playing Flood Escape since 2015, and I think that the points are all true. For me, the game really began the decline back when crazyblox added in the Lethal Company ripoff gamepass, and accelerated as more stuff like adding in 100+ maps AT ONCE became common. I think that he should have had them community vote on all the community maps to decide which one gets added, as well as removing the map vote cooldown and paywalling it. I’ve lucking been able to fill the void with some Tria and Isle 10 here and there, but I cant replace it. I hope Flood Escape Hybrid actually fixes some of the mistakes of FE2, but I don’t think it will, unfortunately. This sucks to see, being there in the peak of it and watching the fall.
as someone who stopped playing for a while and came back after the here to stay update, i remember literally being attacked in the chat when i didnt go for a button in whirlwind wasteland because i was still learning the map, being called lazy and people literally threatening me 😭its like as if im supposed to be chronically on my computer spending all night practicing these maps.
What I’ve told other people I’ve played with is I wish there was a version with no crazy+ at all. Because I’ve played this game for years and normal servers are obviously too easy, but whenever I go into pro servers it’s always just a crazy+ spam and I’m not as happy because I just wanna beat some good normal crazy maps. There’s an occasional 1 or 2 crazy+ I will beat, but I really just want to play the crazy maps I know and love 😢
There was a suggestion thrown around in the Discord for like sort of incentives of focusing down a map, like how you could get titles or profile banners or something like that, I think that'd help tremendously because even if you lose you're still getting a reward out of it, that'd probably help with the repetition of losing and losing
I'm excited for what other content you'll make in the future. Thanks for being honest. In my experience, having FE2 as a hyperfixation and a returning interest from 2017-2019 makes me constantly play it and all, but I do agree, it gets really stale with larger updates pouring in more. Even I don't get a joy on Crazy+ either. I feel as of right now, I'm only playing it for the joy of saving up and purchasing original character skins to play as since I find characters to be the most important factor of a game to me. But other than that, it's not that great as it used to be. It's hard to get myself to play other Roblox games too since I'm stuck in this cycle of FE2, then FE2 again, and hell even I feel the need to play it right now, but still. It's not that fun anymore. I understand ya completely, dude.
I strongly agree with your view on the Crazy+ difficulty, personally I think Crazyblox should’ve introduced Crazy+ by picking out a map that is the borderline equivalent to that difficulty similar to how he introduced the Crazy difficulty but even then it would still flop thanks to how needlessly relentless the difficulty is in the first place. He definitely could have slowed down the production speed of Crazy+ maps as well because similar to what I’ve said earlier, they’re all pretty much 10x more difficult than anything else we’ve seen before and only having a month to do a certain Crazy+ map before another one gets added in is a ridiculously small time frame. Even if I’m being quite negative here, FE2 is a very special game to me as it’s a game I was obsessed with fairly early into it’s release and it’s heart dropping knowing that the game and player base are all running out of fuel to keep going.
As a player playing fe2 since 2017... i do respect the descision you are making. You were my light of fe2 content, you were guidens to keep playing. But now, you falling out idk if i will be able to keep going. i went fully for playing fe2, actually crying for the first time abt a content creator Just know YOU ARE THE BEST FE2 CONTENT CREATOR THAT STEP FOOT ON THIS EARTH. Just know i love your content, and i fully respect your descision (sorry if i type some stuff wrong my grammer is not the best and i am typing this to late)
i think this could explain why i lost so much interest in fe2. i was always against crazy+ and always wanted it to stay in cm. idk why crazy added it and if it was a community vote then idk why the community wanted it so much. rustic jungle (first crazy+ added) was so fucking stressful, and i think that's one of the reasons why i quit, and then the stack with even MORE crazy+ highlights monthly made it even worse for me. i think i decided to take a lil break and i managed to complete some of the crazy+ highlights, but i think i eventually became overwhelmed by the amount of maps coming at me and the need to do all of them, and i just stopped playing. i think the monthly highlights were already an avalanche sweeping me away from this game, and the "here to stay" update and the increasing amount of crazy+ maps just made that avalanche stronger. i'm really glad I'm not alone in this, and i completely agree that having fun in a game is a very important thing. i hope you will find some more fun with your childhood games, and i wish you the best of luck.
so uh no one is gonna look at my comment, but it's fine because i think realizing that i have no community to satisfy is what helped me out with quitting fe2 too, i don't have to make some long message about how I'm sick of this game, i just leave and transition into some other game because i know no one's gonna talk about it anyways.
Great video, man. This really brings out the problems with this game nowadays, and while I don't personally play the game too often, I get the feeling of burnout with difficult maps. I mainly play JToH and I have that same problem. It sucks. What I think you should do is try taking a break or finding a new game to play (I would LOVE to see Calamity videos) so that maybe things feel fresh again if you decide to play again. Just my thoughts.
As a FE2 player who has played this game for 3 years+, I actually completely agree with everything you said. The game's dying, the only content constantly added to the game is highlights and new maps. Having to grind out all the different maps in order to beat them, and as new maps are added, the game feels less fun to play compared to before. The average player count dropping to 100 - 200 players. And since I make FE2 videos starting from 2024, the year where the game is already starting to die, i dont know if making FE2 content will get me far in my channel and when the game will just, completely die out to the point when i wake up and see the average player count rapidly drop to 20 - 30 players, or possibly even a 0.
Another thing that got me to stop playing fe2 is the physics After playing lb 1.15 for a week i dont wanna go back to worse physics and how you need someone to boost 4 times per round also how you can go from c+ to hard
Hey Chris. Im an fe2 player just like you, and I fully agree with basically everything you said here. I’ve been watching your channel for over a year, it’s definitely my favorite, and I don’t want to anger you or overwhelm you but i have some video suggestions: 1: Continue the DOOMLEK series, I FREAKING LOVED THE FIRST ONE. 2: I have some game requests: Average Plate Gaem Untitled Tag Game Generic Roleplay Game Liquid Breakout (new update dropped and lux added DS v3, by you!) Obby Creator 3: Release the splendid china wall video your idea is funny lol. I think you have a huge point in this video and fe2 is certainly nearing the end of the line (crazy). Another thing you may want to take into consideration is Crazyblox’s recent lawsuit on FE2_Revived, causing the death of a fangame called fe2 revived which contained community maps and took away c+. Crazyblox is sinking his own ship. I think you are the worlds best RUclipsr and don’t ever close your channel but it is time to move on from fe2 at least until either a: you change your mind or b: the game gets fixed. Just know you’re not alone in thinking fe2 is in a very bad spot. Contact me if you want by sending me friend request on Roblox, I’m usually on 1:00-4:30 ET
On the point of highlights, the way they were handled in terms of becoming permanents was really bad. What comes to mind is when Snowy Stronghold was made permanent, a non-FE2 roblox discord server I'm in was flooded with everyone being excited. There was so much hype and people wouldn't stop taking about it. Compare that to any of the new maps, nobody talks about them anywhere outside of the FE2 discord itself. It's sad
I can feel so identified with your video even though i am not an content creator, i feel demotivated to still playing fe2 i feel the game so repetitive after almost 8 YEARS of me playing fe2 since dsf release and i remember to wait with so much hype every update and see the newest maps, but during 2023 i really felt demotivated to beat the weekly highlights because it was a lot to me and i didn’t have any fun and when rj got release i didn’t had any real fun playing it and then the “here to stay” update release and definitely the feeling of playing since that update is too agglomerating. Now i don’t enjoy watching or playing fe2 and after the RIA it already feels a downfall in the updates too, i don’t get hyped when there is a new update, and the community also became very toxic like out of nowhere, and watching other fe2 map makers or content creators retiring or taking a break of the game can confirm what i had been thinking so much time ago. Definitely your video like me and i agree with every point you mentioned 👏👏👏
Not gonna lie, I feel bad for this Roblox game to gradually decrease in popularity, this video pretty much covered the whole topic about how FE2 is doing right now. I wish Crazyblox to watch this video and (maybe) make some changes to the game to keep the audience. However, this game has grown to me and I still play this game and it doesn't mean I will quit. Although the c+ maps are annoying, I could still at least practice the maps in FE2CM
THANK YOU for saying this omg. I actually have been feeling the same way about FE2 eversince the Here To Stay, which while I thought was gonna be cool, actually didn't feel the way I thought it would. I expected alot of fun, but I didn't think through how many maps I'll have to memorize. Then came the bigger problem; Crazy fucking +. Personally, I never liked Crazy+. They're just fueled with strict gameplay that I personally dont find enjoyable, and to add more of that every month?? It got too much for me. It took me 2 months to complete AVM, then rustic jungle was added, and like not that long after we already got Crazy+ highlights. It got so overwhelming that I basically quit the game. Not sure how Crazyblox will fix this, and I don't know if I trust his decisions like I used to. I have always thought of every decision he makes as the wisest and best decision for the community, but I haven't felt the same after the crazy+ overload
I’ve started branching out from FE2, playing games like Tria.OS, JToH, and Liquid Breakout, I don’t play the maingame anymore, as I’ve suffered multiple threats and offenses, I only play FE2CM now. You should consider playing Tria.OS, you can be really creative with the gameplay, and you have a low chance of getting hated on. I hope you’ll get better, and good luck in college soon!
I don’t think I’ll be playing any sort of flood escape or obby related games, but thanks for the suggestion! And thank you for wishing me luck on college. 🙏
I think crazy notice your video. he just message in discord that he picking up on the community sentiment so let hope he can do smth. Imo i want suggest they do an TUTORIAL update just for new players because the game have way way to much mechanic, that really can help new players keep stay in game for while instead of playing 1,2 map die and leave. Sorry for bad English
hm then it should be only accesible by those below level 10, kinda like pro server, it should have level limit which above certain level cannot go in chill server for grinding exp then it could be fair
I was honestly waiting for someone to do a video like this, since i agree with absolutely everything u say! it makes me a bit miserable to see my favorite game do down the drain because of poor management in regards to trying to keep the game alive. Your FE2 Lore series was the thing that brought me back to the game after like a 3 year hiatus, so it makes me a bit sad that you´re getting overwhelmed because of it, and i do hope there is a way that the series can still be made. Since i believe it´s a series that gave the game a new perspective and way to enjoy it (at least for me personally, it became so fun after knowing it has an extensive lore!), but i do agree with every point you made here. And even if you decide to not continue with that or other of the series or types of videos you are making now, i still enjoy ur content and will follow! i wish success on every single project ur looking forward to do! and i hope to see more of u in the future :)!
I’m still on the fence about continuing the lore series. As of right now I think it’s less likely to come back, but I’ll always have the ideas in the back of my mind.
I agreed with you a lot on this video, and yeah FE2 has gotten stale more recently. While don’t get me wrong I loved the game, but I think after all of the new maps Crazyblox has been adding every month I think the game for me has gotten a bit too much for me. As for someone who loved the 70+ map event when it was released I think it’s a bit harder to play maps that either want to play or just wanna beat due too the amount of maps in game. So I don’t know what Crazyblox will do to the game this year, but hopefully it will be something that could a least boost the player count of the game. But anyways it was nice to have a video like this, and I hope to see what’s to come from your channel this year and beyond.
I've been playing fe2 since like Janurary of 2019, and i love it to death. But i genuinely agree with all of these points. I've pretty much quit the game. The amount of things to do overwhelms you, causing burnout. I feel as if right now, if crazy doesn't do anything that wrangles in new players and makes it new-friendly, since he removed chill mode, it will be gone by maybe even the middle of the year, hopefully theres just a spark of activity within the roblox community that brings this game back, similar to how untitled tag game got popular (i played that game since like 2022.), but anyways, thank you for this video Chris, maybe it can open Crazy's eyes.
Whats actually crazy is i joined back in 2016 and took a 2 year break then came back in 2018 and then took another 2 year break and came back 2020 and kept playing it until now
I really get this so much to be honest, I don't blame you one bit. Honestly I've been at this game since like 2018,and so I have a lot of memories with it myself, from so many friends I haven't seen in years now to all my closest friends on roblox too that ive known for years being directly from FE2 or an fe2 friend, and... i mean, everyone else already long quit it. I never really did, was my favorite game and practically for some years my personality till like 2022, when I first started losing interest. Then by 2023 I still loved it but started feeling no longer as high on it as I had before, by 2024 I just started... getting out of it and even disliking it wondering how much time I wasted on some flood game or something when things were pretty bad. Ok not to vent randomly in a comments section (sorry lol) but yeah, 2025 now and after calling it my favorite game for like, 7 years now I really can't take it myself, I thought the state of it was shaky and falling apart more and much different from how I liked it and i've just taken monthlong breaks now since like 2024 and it doesn't really get better. It's like on one hand I simply don't like it, and im not even that obligated by anyone else to play it, yet I still want to and try to and call it my favorite just cause I must have spent thousands upon thousands of hours in there in my especially game addicted years and there's just like, 90% of my good memories or friends and such attributed to it and everything. couldnt agree more with pretty much everything you said, I just feel dread thinking about grinding some highlights now and im so behind i don't have motivation to try now. Back in like 2020 a new map would be a major like insane thing for the community, now it's like "i stepped back for a month and theres a ton more oh..." and... yeah, so much nostalgia and good times but it's all gone and I wanna stop too really.
Didn't think I would actually watch this but I was too curious to just ignore it so here I am. Now, I'm no longer a part of FE2. I haven't been for a while, probably a year or two, because I found Crazyblox essentially had killed it. Many of your points I do agree with. Crazy+, the highlight system, and the amount of effort a player needs to put into a map just to beat it. I'm sure most players have heard of TRIA.os, an FE2 "fangame" that has now just recently released V1.0 to the public. I find TRIA much more interesting, due to it being a community driven game more than an actual developer-led game. Compare FE2 and TRIA maps, what do you notice? FE2 maps look very similar even in style. To me, FE2 seems boring now BECAUSE people have gotten less creative and opt choosing the same theme over and over. When there is actually a really good map with creativity put into it, it's ultimately rejected because of it being too creative. Take Content Deleted as an example which is probably one of, if not the best modern FE2 maps I've seen. It looks really good, has creative concepts put into it, yet Crazyblox is extremely likely to not highlight it. The whole system is kind of out-of-date which is why I feel community driven FE2 games will often face more success than developer driven FE2 games. In short; Crazyblox gets to pick what maps HE LIKES and not what the COMMUNITY LIKES which can end up with us having maps by the exact same people looking the exact same with nothing creative added to it. Just remember what happened when FE2CM Legacy shut down and Timelines were added, not a lot of people were happy. The difference with TRIA's "highlight" system is that instead of the highlights being picked by developers, they are awarded to creators who put in the effort to make their map good and unique. Featured and Revolutionary are these two categories, where if you get a feature, you've made a pretty good map, and if you got awarded revolutionary, this means you've made something nobody else has made before completely unique to the game. This system is flawless for newer creators as this reassures them that it wont be up to chance if they get recognition and praise for their creative maps but rather their own skill, talent, and limitations. The map creating system is also incredibly freeing, no limitations, exactly how it was designed to be. These factors really play into what game I consider better. It's not because of bias, it's because of community.
Man I love Fe2 ever since I joined Roblox back in 2018, it was my first ever game playing and back then it was magical, the maps the difficulties the gameplay and mechanics it was surreal to me. When I first beat dark sci I was flipping out because it was once the hardest map in the game, and then listening to the ost on my headphones and just vibing to it (btr is my goat) when I discovered that community maps exist I didn’t hesitate to hop on and try to beat the hardest maps, I think I spent like 30+ hours trying to beat dystopia on mobile ;-; but around 2020 I dropped the game and didn’t play again till 2024 and I was overwhelmed by how much stuff it had, I mean crazy + when I barely beat any crazies besides BM and PC it was like finding a 100$ With so much content tho, I got more and more frustrated with the game, especially with all the updates it has now, (I hate the optional gems for map events) but I grinded through the headaches and anger to try and beat every single map it offered me, I mean just today I beat WWWW and almost beat SZS and that feeling of completion died a bit too fast knowing I’ll have to do that all over again for a different map… This game was my childhood, it was all I did and it makes me sad seeing it crumble slowly but surely- it has a special place in my heart for helping me get through tough times when I was younger but it had a hell of a good run getting this far, all good things come to an end. thank you for showing me the state it’s in even though I admit this had just randomly popped up on my recommended, but I guess it was a sign of some sort- Like a captain on its sinking boat, I will play this game till its final breath.
I agree, thanks for speaking out alot, since someone who started with FE2 in early 2020, I agree with all your points, ever since we got COC (or CK) in the game, my motivation on playing the game hasn't been here lately, and Crazyblox doesn't have anymore ideas for the game, and i think he should really listen to the Community, The FE2 Community was much bigger, but a few people (JakePlayz, Sizzy, Suunytomb, RushingHour, XEnesR, firerod11, Chaser, BenJaThePROXD, Zectsters, HardQuantum, MiniPlayer, GreatBanner16, TwiistedPandora, etc.) left, the FE2 Community is now much smaller, The voting process, lag, and the cooldowns make it frustratingly hard to play, also, the game sits at around 200-400 players on average, and I really think its going to die off in late august 2025, I'm also not really a huge fan of Crazyblox getting rid of the "one map per day" idea when it was the first week of a new month as it gave a chance for lower difficulty maps to be in the spotlight, we all know that a good amount of people only loves Crazy and Crazy+ Maps, and some people even join the community for wrong reasons, so yeah i agree with you Chris! good luck!
as someone who recently started playing fe2 again after about a year (last map i remember is chaoz japan/spider dungeon) i feel the same way, theres just too many maps for me to learn and theres not even a good tool for map practicing since most maps arent in FE2CM.
Honestly I couldn’t relate more with you when you mentioned that you couldn’t keep up because I remember back when avm was the hardest I beat all the crazies and wasn’t worrying about any other achievements but now I think crazyblox added way too many crazy maps and now even new crazy+ maps where it’s just hard to keep up but as of right now my hardest is desert ruins
Whilst I lost interest for main-game, I have been loving FE2CM, essentially actively playing it for the last 9 months. Making new maps, seeing community creations, listening to soundtracks, talking on the CBG discord, everything really has been amazing. No other game has made me not burn out the same way CM has. Updates have been great aswell, improving stability, loading times, timeline features, etc. Highlights is still an awesome feature. I totally get the recording hassle, especially for C+. Doesn't matter as much for me, as I can usually beat a 6.6 in less than an hour. I think in general FE2 just needs more options to fit the playerbase. Maybe custom server hosting like FE2CM has, where you can select map types (only cm or only main), CM age, intensity cap (5.99 for example). Would make recording significantly easier and better fit the playerbase.
ive literally been playing FE2 since November of 2017, too see it fall so far due to the oversaturation you mentioned is sad, this game used to be the main game i played on Roblox, but now games like Doors, Pressure, etc. have taken that spot, they dont oversaturate their game
It's nice seeing more and more creators branch out from FE2 to play much nicer games with cooler communities. It's good to diversify. Though FE2 does hold a special place in my heart (Along with many others'), sometimes interests fade away, and thats totally fine. You shouldn't be forced or at least feel forced to provide the FE2 community with content, as that will just make content creation feel like a chore. In the end, content creation should be something the creator should enjoy and not be obligated to do. Hope you'll have fun playing other games "Chris Smeller". Roblox has so much more to offer.
Chris Semler you know what, I’ve joined the game for 8 months. At the first 2 months I actually enjoyed the highlights, I beated all the highlight maps from Easy to Crazy. I would like to say that I hate Crazy+, first, it took me 4 months to beat my very first crazy+, mind of misery. Second, I can’t complete filling the highlight board with the complete state when there’s a crazy+. Third, the game became less fun when my friends start to grind more and more crazy+, then they show off with me. And I just sigh, the game had started to change before I joined, and my thoughts is just… well I’ve been loving the game for a really long time, I don’t think if I can stick along with it for a long time anymore, that’s not guaranteed but it is likely to happen.
Tbh if Crazyblox kept the chaos and chill modes, didnt touch map test, removed modifiers and added back only insane lock (not crazy lock) then i think we're good.
It’s just sad to see a game that I literally grew up on start to fall off like this Hopefully something good happens to revive the game but I don’t have my hopes up EDIT: also my biggest problem with the highlight system is that they only ever highlight maps made by fe2 contributors or popular people in the community while smaller creators like me just get completely left in the dust
i mean i have fun challenging myself, grinding a map for 20+ hours can be fun. i heavily agree with your point on the oversaturation of content though. I'd add back weekly highlights but keep them TEMPORARY. by 2026, at this rate the game will be dead and we will have an extra 72 maps. I think crazyblox needs to make the content he adds more diverse, and just add more replayability to the game: add SOMETHING worth achieving that isnt just "oh beat every map" I think he could go a lot more in-depth with the current achievement system and have something similar to doors, and add actual rewards worth something on top of that. I think permanents should come back, but they shouldn't be highlights. They should be maps that weren't in the game before, because then you're just like "oh cool, this map is permanent now i guess ill beat it like a couple more times." I think the permanents were in the right step, but we still have CM maps dragging it down. Also the crazy+ points are really just based on skill, but i think crazyblox should seperate the servers into three. Normal (easy-insane), Pro (easy-crazy) and Expert (easy-crazy+) with all requirements that make sense to access them. just my thoughts tho, we need different content then just new maps.
Having played the original one and switching over to FE2 it has felt amazing getting into it however, like a lotta things the game is different since like a year after it released. But having came back like I did last year, it was really hard to keep up with everything or feel like I can get every little ounce of fun outta the game. A lotta maps have changed, new stuff was added don't get me wrong some of the maps are cool but I don't have the motivation to play the game much anymore as it's just a little bit overwhelming to me and Roblox in general to have fun for hours when I get really tired of the game quickly.
As an fe2 OG, I personally think the game needs to introduce new official lore back into the game, especially in new maps and the lobby as well. It could be story-based as well. Maybe a story mode too but idk about that, but something that has to be fresh to the game. I think crazyblox should listen to his community more and experiment on their suggestions on how to revive the game even if it wouldn’t get as close as it used to years ago. Then again we do have a new flood escape game coming out and I am hoping that will bring back the hype and players to the game, but whose to say. I think crazyblox should look at tria and take inspiration from them to try to bring some things fresh to flood escape 2, such as finding secret and hidden badges. Crazyblox has to at least do something to make the game feel fresh and new and bring back the hype to the game. We should really share this video around to crazyblox.
I think more lore hints in the game would be really good. Lost pages would be a good way to start. I’ve always liked the idea that after you collect a lost page it’ll give you some lore about the map you collected it in.
Wow... I dont know what i should saying😢. I wacth all of your video and i think you can make a brookhaven content like me or something? Else i will see you in the future❤!
He had announced that highlights and community permanent will be changing going forward, so we’ll have to see what happens 👀
out of all of the staff, crazyblox himself is the one that cares the most. he just wants to make the game good, and i respect that
Really? Maybe I’ll have to come back and see. 👀
woah, thank you for sharing your suggestions and thank crazyblox that he listened 🙌
Might peak up
wait so uhh.. what will happen? is the highlight system going to be removed?
Hey Chris, thank you very much for speaking out. As someone who's been part the FE2 community since late 2017, I fully agree with your points and I relate with you very much. Ever since Rustic Jungle released, my motivation on playing the game has gradually declined. As a content creator, recording gameplay footage now feels exhausting, especially on Crazy/Crazy+ maps. The map voting process and cooldowns along with the huge pool of maps make frustratingly difficult to play a specific map even once. With that, this is inspiring me to make a video with my own take on this issue. Good luck Chris!
Hey boonmoon used to watch your fe2 animation videos, they were really funny
@Coolcat34-c8p same, i love flood escape x series!
I am here before the video is public.
I am Chris Semler's friend and I agree with most of the things mentioned here 👍
I hope people actually watch through the video and don't mindlessly skip through it or just stop after the first 1-2 minutes of it

This definitely covers all the issues I also have with the game, and I think that the main problem for me is here to stay, highlights used to feel really special but now they just get slapped on with the gazillion other maps in the game which leads to people forgetting about them
I'm also not really a huge fan of Crazyblox getting rid of the "one map per day" idea when it was the first week of a new month as it gave a chance for lower difficulty maps to be in the spotlight, we all know that a good bunch of the community only cares for Crazy & Crazy+ maps (I think it would've been better off to not introduce Crazy+ highlights btw)
the game sits at around 200-600 players on average, and I really think its going to die off in 2025, as much as I really like this game, and how I've grown a fanbase on it, I don't rlly know what to say anymore lol
I really do believe that there isn't much to save the game at this point but I'd like to be surprised, it would be really good to see something change for the better
There are some things I wanna say about what I want to do next for music, I really do want to slowly move on to another game besides FE2, as you mentioned in the video about Block Tales, back in June I wanted to see if I could get in contact with some of the devs, when the game was still growing rapidly, but that felt like kind of a stretch, although if there was a game id love to compose for then that would be it
FE2 OST's have felt like a chore for over a year now, but I always love to see everyone's reactions and support I get from doing so, I'm not quitting, but I've been slowing down on making them for a while

fr there was no reason for him to release all the maps at once instead of the one map per day thingy
adding on, i really do like fe2, and since crazy has some plans for this year i am looking forward to them
hoping it could do the game justice 🙏
could you please give a reason as to why c+ highlighted shouldn't have been introduced?
@@hwrnumberit’s basically the same reason that Chris described
It became too much to keep up with and was also just a large spike from crazy difficulty
FE:H is NOT saving the flood escape series
Wanted to put this here before the video goes public
Thx for this Chris, speak for all of us lol. FE2 Really needed a voice out there and I'm glad you took up the job, perfect man for it
I'm super happy to spill all my points right into this comment section, and with a lack of explanation of my own career drop I guess I'll fill the gap in right here.
Feeling obligated to beat a crazy+ map is something that i can relate to SO much. Really sad to see the game slowly die.
Agreed! For me beating Splendid China Wall became such a chore now.
Also Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦!

Beating CMA as a first crazy+ is wild 😭😭😭😭😭
@@ChrisSemlerdw I’m a geometry dash player I can take 10+ hours of attempts 💀
True brother, true. I remember the removal of scripts from maptest like the back of my hand, and it made the physics 10x worse in the process too.
Daily Flood Escape 2 player here,
FE2 has been such a great game for me but I do feel like I don't try to survive most of the maps.
My focus rate has became very low and that's probably because of the muscle memory I have with every maps.
What I like about it is the details of every maps and how creative thoes builders are and don't get me started with the songs.
I haven't watched you before but this was super relatable. Whatever content you want to make moving forward, I'm sure people will support you no matter what you choose, and this is just a process that sadly but naturally kind of happens to games and people who play these games as time goes on, only amplified by the audience that you built your channel on
Great vid
Also Ty for commenting, I remember watching you in 2020 🙏
Thank you for making this vid Chris :)
This was a really well done commentary, and I’m so excited to see where you go with the channel!
It really is a shame how over saturated and overwhelming the highlights have become. I can personally relate to this as I’m also drowning in STEM work, and the feeling FE2 gives off where it feels mandatory to finish every map. I rllyyyy hope FE2 goes thru a system revamp this year :(
On the bright side we can’t wait to see what other games you introduce into the channel!! :D
Crazyblox seems to be taking the best steps possible by acknowledging he saw this video and delayed the highlights, it seems larger changes ARE coming to the system :>
@ lesssgooooo🙏
Been great to be in your old videos!
this video explained how i feel about fe2 better than i could explain it myself
Tbh I was expecting this vid for awhile now, especially yesterday I was thinking about when you’re going to talk about it lol
I completely agree with everything you said thatI dont even have anything more to say now lol :,) I quit the game awhile ago and I find it really boring now, i was surprised how you still make fe2 vids too!
But still I’m really excited for what’s coming next and i’ll still watch your vids and support you even if its not about fe2 anymore since you really inspired me and made me so happy during my hard times
Take care and I cant wait for whatever’s coming !! :))
(Im still not that good at english im so sorry if this doesnt make sense)
i actually quit fe2 in late 2023.
i came back to it in late 2024, early 2025, and half of the maps that were there i didn’t know
i was actually flabbergasted, there were way too many new maps
im probably going to be more active in the community after a 1 year break, but i don’t know if it’ll cease to exist by the end of this year
I do agree with your thoughts. I mean, I don't want to extensively practice a crazy+ map for hours or days on end. It just stresses the mind mentally.
Honestly this video is a perfect way of saying what the community has been feeling recently, and it needed to be said. Really great points.
i don’t think fe2 is entirely dying out, i just think the community is full of veterans that have been playing for years and have been getting tired of the game, the game is one of the most creative games on the platform but like with practically any game, you’ll lose interest.
Completely understandable 💯
as soon as the many highlighted maps became perm it felt like FE2 was becoming more like FE2CM. FE2 hasn’t had any actual game changing features besides the addition of new maps and decorative items etc. I’m wondering if the last cool update we had was the sliding mechanics 😭
maybe you could make music lol. Idk, it would be cool to see that from you 😭💯
Eh I don’t think making music is for me
@@ChrisSemler 💔
The game isnt fun at all , it all feels oversaturated, and playing maps every month feeling like i have to beat all the maps, the games current state and communitys state really just have stopped me from enjoying the game, crazy+ even though i like difficulty is just TOO MUCH.
the community attacking map makers like me when all im doing is doing stuff for fun also hurts, criticsm hurts and i really dont want to anymore, i dont like it, something that earlier this year was a way of expressing myself now just feels like being happy with my work just for someone to ruin all my self esteem.
people in this community are also disgusting which is something ive realised more and more the further ive got into this community. people i used to call friends that i now dont know if i ever want to see again, i hate how split the community is and how people just cant stop finding things to argue about
i havent had fun with this game and just felt oblligated to make maps or play this game. amazing video that i honestly completely agree with
sorry for my shitty english :C
I completely agree with this entire video. I was grinding for hours on every Crazy+ map, but like you said, I don’t want to sit there for hours. Every time new highlights, I don’t even smile or touch the game. I’ve been playing FE2 since I was 11 years old, and at 18 years old now, I don’t want to sit here and play anymore at all. But I come back after a few days and post a video since I can’t give up on my favorite childhood game. Thank you for making this video. You made me put my true thoughts out here.
omg i relate to this alot
this is why i am taking an indefinite break from this game
and other games such average plate gaem are my game
bc they are ACTUALLY random events that require MEDIUM skill
Yeah I definitely think the amount of highlighted maps should be reduced.
As someone who played around release and has been an FE2CM (then, FE2 MapTest) only player ever since early-mid 2018, i feel like i should write this essay:
I encountered myself in a similar state way back then in 2018 when i beat all the maps the main game had to offer and got bored quickly.
Regarding Crazy+, i think it depends on the overall playerbase/majority of it are able to beat higher-end maps, because some people just likes to challenge themselfs with harder maps (no matter the quality as we've seen it...) and that's just natural as you get better at the game, then there shouldn't be a "final difficulty" (using TRIA.os as an example, i've noticed that there is a significant group that are able to beat Eternal maps, so therefore, Eternal should be a valid difficulty, but not anything above it until said significant group are able to beat 8.0+ maps) however we are all aware there will be a human limit at some point lol.
commenting after this gets published:
honestly, this is understandable.
(and Timelines definitely made things a lot worse)
Over-saturation definitely negatively affected this game.

This really points out and represents many of players's opinions about the game, and shows how much you care about the game & community, suggesting improvements to make fe2 enjoyable like it was back then
I think it's turning into Geometry dash, from what it was used to be an actual flood escaping game, strict pacing and intense difficulties & high quality maps / levels.
Understandable will miss the Doomlek arc. That vid was way too funny.
Yeah I usually just play with chat off to avoid that sort of stuff.
@ I try to do that but it’s too hard to not worry about what others say about me cuz it happens when I don’t chat too 😭
What I’ve told other people I’ve played with is I wish there was a version with no crazy+ at all.
That’d be a really great idea actually. I think I’ve talked about something similar in the past.
Just know i love your content, and i fully respect your descision (sorry if i type some stuff wrong my grammer is not the best and i am typing this to late)
i think this could explain why i lost so much interest in fe2.
i was always against crazy+ and always wanted it to stay in cm. idk why crazy added it and if it was a community vote then idk why the community wanted it so much. rustic jungle (first crazy+ added) was so fucking stressful, and i think that's one of the reasons why i quit, and then the stack with even MORE crazy+ highlights monthly made it even worse for me. i think i decided to take a lil break and i managed to complete some of the crazy+ highlights, but i think i eventually became overwhelmed by the amount of maps coming at me and the need to do all of them, and i just stopped playing. i think the monthly highlights were already an avalanche sweeping me away from this game, and the "here to stay" update and the increasing amount of crazy+ maps just made that avalanche stronger. i'm really glad I'm not alone in this, and i completely agree that having fun in a game is a very important thing. i hope you will find some more fun with your childhood games, and i wish you the best of luck.
so uh no one is gonna look at my comment, but it's fine because i think realizing that i have no community to satisfy is what helped me out with quitting fe2 too, i don't have to make some long message about how I'm sick of this game, i just leave and transition into some other game because i know no one's gonna talk about it anyways.
just a silly question.
are you watching "Talking friend"
Great video, man. This really brings out the problems with this game nowadays, and while I don't personally play the game too often, I get the feeling of burnout with difficult maps. I mainly play JToH and I have that same problem. It sucks. What I think you should do is try taking a break or finding a new game to play (I would LOVE to see Calamity videos) so that maybe things feel fresh again if you decide to play again. Just my thoughts.
i felt like i had way more fun playing fe2 in 2018 - 2022 and this video is explains exactly why
Another thing that got me to stop playing fe2 is the physics
After playing lb 1.15 for a week i dont wanna go back to worse physics and how you need someone to boost 4 times per round
also how you can go from c+ to hard
Imagine after all of this out of nowhere they release fe3
Hey Chris. Im an fe2 player just like you, and I fully agree with basically everything you said here. I’ve been watching your channel for over a year, it’s definitely my favorite, and I don’t want to anger you or overwhelm you but i have some video suggestions:
1: Continue the DOOMLEK series, I FREAKING LOVED THE FIRST ONE.
2: I have some game requests:
Average Plate Gaem
Untitled Tag Game
Generic Roleplay Game
Liquid Breakout (new update dropped and lux added DS v3, by you!)
Obby Creator
3: Release the splendid china wall video your idea is funny lol.
Good luck for your future, Chris Semler.
Thank you 🙏
@@ChrisSemler No problem. :D
Since 2018 I still love insane maps my fav my right now os distortion collapse, I miss when insane was the hardest
I would genuinely love to see flood theory again it was a classic
ok genuinely this video explains everything every flaw of current day fe2
I think crazy notice your video. he just message in discord that he picking up on the community sentiment so let hope he can do smth. Imo i want suggest they do an TUTORIAL update just for new players because the game have way way to much mechanic, that really can help new players keep stay in game for while instead of playing 1,2 map die and leave. Sorry for bad English
Yes, crazy noticed the video 🙏
very relatable! he should add chill mode back for those below level 10 and add tutorials
tria has tutorials
@@Mozz_R1cca idk, Chill Mode went beyond its purpose as it was like an XP Grinder for me but with less reward.
hm then it should be only accesible by those below level 10, kinda like pro server, it should have level limit which above certain level cannot go in chill server for grinding exp
then it could be fair
I think this is why gentle berry 16 left (he never established why/that he was leaving, he just disappeared one day).
I haven't touched fe2 since it released but my man crazy should add community racing not like speedruns.
Man I love Fe2 ever since I joined Roblox back in 2018, it was my first ever game playing and back then it was magical, the maps the difficulties the gameplay and mechanics it was surreal to me. When I first beat dark sci I was flipping out because it was once the hardest map in the game, and then listening to the ost on my headphones and just vibing to it (btr is my goat) when I discovered that community maps exist I didn’t hesitate to hop on and try to beat the hardest maps, I think I spent like 30+ hours trying to beat dystopia on mobile ;-; but around 2020 I dropped the game and didn’t play again till 2024 and I was overwhelmed by how much stuff it had, I mean crazy + when I barely beat any crazies besides BM and PC it was like finding a 100$
With so much content tho, I got more and more frustrated with the game, especially with all the updates it has now, (I hate the optional gems for map events) but I grinded through the headaches and anger to try and beat every single map it offered me, I mean just today I beat WWWW and almost beat SZS and that feeling of completion died a bit too fast knowing I’ll have to do that all over again for a different map…
This game was my childhood, it was all I did and it makes me sad seeing it crumble slowly but surely- it has a special place in my heart for helping me get through tough times when I was younger but it had a hell of a good run getting this far, all good things come to an end. thank you for showing me the state it’s in even though I admit this had just randomly popped up on my recommended, but I guess it was a sign of some sort-
Like a captain on its sinking boat, I will play this game till its final breath.
Isnt fe2 classic still available?
I am in need of flood theory 🙏
I doubt it’ll come back, but I’ll keep an open mind.
@ just deal with the things you wanna deal with first. 😊
Tbh if Crazyblox kept the chaos and chill modes, didnt touch map test, removed modifiers and added back only insane lock (not crazy lock) then i think we're good.
It’s just sad to see a game that I literally grew up on start to fall off like this
Hopefully something good happens to revive the game but I don’t have my hopes up
EDIT: also my biggest problem with the highlight system is that they only ever highlight maps made by fe2 contributors or popular people in the community while smaller creators like me just get completely left in the dust
Commenting on this before it goes public, skibidi.
i mean i have fun challenging myself, grinding a map for 20+ hours can be fun. i heavily agree with your point on the oversaturation of content though. Normal (easy-insane), Pro (easy-crazy) and Expert (easy-crazy+) with all requirements that make sense to access them. just my thoughts tho, we need different content then just new maps.
agree with you 100% here
Im going to touch u
Yes Brookhaven would be epic
