After watching the silage pit struggle last episode, I think you made the right choice. That was painful to watch, lol! Love the new homestead, and the doggo is a nice touch. Great fun to watch, thanks.
My grandfather had bought a Deutz 8006 brand new back in the day, He was sleeping underneath it during summer so he didnt have to commute. He repaid back that tractor the same summer he bought it! Crazy if you think nowadays prices. I was using it with a Claas 2 rotor rake with side swathing until 2015 , only one engine rebuild since new, great tractor. Dont even know how many hours it had, the needle reading hours broke inside the engine and i couldnt take out to replace it without opening the front of the engine block.
Wow that is dedication! I don't think I've ever seen a Deutz tractor here in Canada, but we used to have an old Case 1370 that we finally retired in 2019. It also had a broken hour meter, so no idea how many hours it had, but that thing had been working hard since well before I was born (and I'm not exactly young lol). It had the transmission rebuilt at one point, but was still going on the original engine! Some of those old tractors just refused to die!
Love this series! Food for thought - the SaMASZ KDD 941 STH mower has center swathing. The Kuhn may as well, but you would have to maybe verify on your test game. It would save the expense and time of using a windrower. Just leaves a swath of grass like your current mower does and you just drive along it with your mower. Keep up the good work!
Yup, the spawned meadow grass for dynamic pastures is glitched. Plow+plant a grass field first, then place your dynamic pasture on top and click "no" to the meadow grass option. It will continually regrow and feed your goats properly. Would 100% be worth plowing+planting the area near your homestead with grass to increase bales and prep it for animals.
just FYI, getting the other wrapper ( the non sausage one) gives you the flexibility to do square contracts aswell up to 220. the one you have is limiting you to just round balls but that's only if your willing to spend the extra cash for the added flexibility and longevity for square wrapping for the future.
I agree, spending the extra $27k to get the Kuhn wrapper is the better option. Not only does it open up square bale wrapping contracts, it opens the road for upgrading the baler to a big square baler in the future, for WAYYY more efficient baling. No stopping, higher capacity bales (so less bales) and easier stacking/handling.
So, I actually did some testing with the square bale system... The baling itself is definitely faster, it took me ~11 minutes to bale that field with the square baler at 220cm, vs ~20 minutes with the round baler. However, the stacking and transporting is actually slower with the squares... The square bales are not that much bigger (6000l for 220cm squares vs 5500l for 150cm rounds) but the square bale autostacker trailer only holds 14 bales, vs 24 with the round stacker. So I can actually move a total of 132K liters of round bales at a time, compared to only 84K with the squares... And the round stacker works faster as well, so I can load those 24 rounds in almost the same time as it takes to load the 14 squares. So the time savings on the baling/harvest side is pretty much negated by the extra time on the stacking and selling side. And I ended up with 46 squares vs 51 rounds from that field, so there wasn't huge time difference on the wrapping side. I also found that wrapper to be a bit more finicky about positioning to get it to accept the square bales, so it was a little more annoying to use imo. It would unlock some extra contracts, but the wrapping contracts are uncommon enough that I think it would take a long time break even on that extra $27K if I'm not actually going to be doing my own squares anytime soon...
@@syrupgames fair enough! I didn't realize that the square bale auto stacking trailer was so significantly less efficient! In that case, fair play to ya for getting the round bale set up!
I make a lot of silage bales and have found Samasz mower and the John Deere bailer wrapper to be the best combination. The JD bailer holds a lot of consumables which saves having it keep stopping to reload . I've been trying out courseplay to automate the bailing and it's going ok. The biggest issue I've found so far is the frame rate can drop sometimes. Best of luck.
You can get the bale implement for the front of the tactor. Lots of times i ended up having to make another extra trip around the map just for 1 or 2 bales until i discover this attachment, and you don't even need a front loader, it goes directly on the 3 point conection.
Awesome video! I think the bailing after with that struggle last time was a brilliant idea. I originally thought you could have just left the wrapped bails on the field until they became silage and then pick them up and take them to sell directly - I'm not sure how that would have worked out with the need of fertilizing, but I think that since you only need to fertilize it once, maybe I could have worked? I didn't realize that transporting wood is such a pain, in my own challenge I bought the things necessary and started to transport wood.... gosh it's painful (which you can't FEEL on a timelapse) but actually working... Anyway.... Looking forward to the next episode my friend, congrats for the 4K+ subs!!!
Thanks! Yeah I was really hesitant to spend so much money on the baling stuff, but in the end I'm glad I did. I probably could leave the bales in the field until ready to sell, but I didn't this time for a couple reasons: I wanted to see how long it would take to gather them with that trailer, plus I knew I wanted to make a thumbnail with the loaded trailer so I would have to pick them up anyway for that. Also, I'm sure I could work around them for fertilizing if I was doing it myself, but I was pretty sure I was going to get the AI to do it this time so I didn't want bales in the way for that. And yeah, the wood transport definitely takes some patience lol, now you know why I sometimes avoided them early in the series, even though I really could have used the money, I had just run out of patience for it haha. And thank you! I can't believe we hit 4K already!!
Been scratching at my neck waiting for the next episodes to drop hahaha. Hope the fps stuttering and the illness has all gone away and you can get back to making awesome videos again soon!
There is a mod out for fs25 (don't know whats it called), where when you bale it gets slower and stops automatically when it is full. Might be nice to add, cause you wouldn't have to reverse all the time.
@48.06 DOG houdini appears in fs22 you could name them by interacting with the dog house, a tip for the loading wagons is if you reverse into the pit they dont chunk out under the wheel an get stuck, an then you can brute force pull it out. And the weird thing the AI does when you set it to mow a field is lower and turn on its front mower move forward then intends to lower and turn on its back mower (which you currently dont have) and then start mowing the line.
Thanks for the advice! I did try backing into the pit a couple times, but I could never get it to work. The back of the wagon would just get jammed against the silage and I could never actually get in there going backwards... That definitely makes sense about the mower though!
Nvm what I said in the last episode about the forage blower thing. This is way better and more entertaining to watch. I would suggest getting the 9m wide yellow front mower that has the center swath. As for the dog name when you asked the question my brain said Hank and then laughed. Either way great episode can’t wait for the next one. Ps I know I was a few days late to watch the last few and comment. Me and my wife just had our little baby girl on Dec 30 and her name is prunella. So life has been busy. Happy new year! Wishing you all the best.
Congratulations on the baby girl!! 🥳 No worries about not watching right away, the videos aren't going anywhere, gotta take care of the family first! Glad you're still enjoying the series!
It's a bit late now, but the xhybrid wrapper (aka the sausage wrapper) wraps 180cm bales. You'd need to mow, bale, move the bales to the wrapper & load it, but it would still probably be even faster
@syrupgames they're just long chains of wrapped bales, unwrap them once fermented and you can easily pick them up with an autoloader or on a bale spike and sell them wherever you want to
Strange, I have been using the same front-mounted mower with the John Deere combo baler/wrapper, and never once have I had to wait for the wrapper to finish wrapping while building the next bale.
I don't think it would do it with my current mower, in the test I was using the Samasz windowing mower, since I plan to upgrade to that one pretty soon
I've looked at them, and I think they would be nice, but they're so damn expensive... Even the cheapest square baler is more expensive than my entire round baling set-up... Not to mention that the wrapper and trailer for square bales are much more expensive too, so the same set-up for squares would cost over $300K, there's no way I would've been able to afford it without doing a couple more harvests with the pit first...
@syrupgames I suggest saving up and switching to square baling down the road. It is WAY faster, more convenient, and just all together more pleasant to do. But yes, it requires more initial cost, so good to start smaller and upgrade when you can.
i just started running a forage harvester with a the Krone mower head over my grasslands, it cuts, picks up and throws it into a trailer behind it all with one pass, makes the grasslands a breeze. Oh, and to throw the ball you hold the right mouse button while holding the ball, you see the reticule get bigger, release right mouse to chuck it
Instead of goats, perhaps consider chickens. Investment seen it m8ght make more sense to start wi5h. Also if you want to replace your wood industry thingy, consider upgrading it to the medium size one. Cheers, love the series
Definitely considering chickens, only problem is I don't have any grain production right now, so I would still have to buy feed for them , which would definitely cut into any potential profits. The good thing about goats is I could feed them with the grass I'm already producing!
You don't have to wait for the bale to finish wrapping dude. Just wait for the baler to reset after ejecting and off you go. At least that's how mine worked in '22.
Ah I don't think I explained that part very well. I know you can start collecting another bale while it's wrapping, the problem was that the second bale would finish collecting before the first bale was done wrapping, so I still had to wait until the first bale was done wrapping before I could eject the second bale and start collecting again
I'm going to hold off on plowing it for now, just because growing season is already over, so I wouldn't get anything from it until next May anyway, but I will definitely consider plowing and planting part of it next spring, just depends how much land I end up dedicating to productions and animals between now and then...
The dogs are a little buggy, looks like nothing changed from 22 to me, my dog would be off somewhere and when it respawned near after giving it some food it made that loud splashing sound as well, scared the begeezus outta me! 😅
okay i have some question , how on earth can u cut deadwood trees into smaller pieces to transport, i cut the tree, can cut it once and after that i it sayd u cant cut this tree
Hmmm, I'm not sure... I usually just try to do one cut anyway, but early on I cut a few up into small enough pieces that I could hand load them, and I never encountered any limitation to how many cuts I could make 🤷♂️
@@m00n92x1If the tree falls out of the mission area the game detects it as land you are not allowed to cut on. Dragging the tree back into the red circle on the map will allow you to cut.
