Honestly the worst part about this needlessly difficult work around system isnt that it slows the creative process to a crawl for no good reason, is it's that *Adobe clearly knows about this issue* and their solution is go on youtube and try to find the video that offers the right answer. Thank you for this video. You may have saved me throwing my laptop in the bin 😊
You just earned my follow. I was on the chat box for over 2 hours with Adobe, they connected to my computer even. They didn't fix my problem, you did. Thanks man. I was able to finish my project.
And for some files, press 'Continue with administrator for all' and if it comes up again, just press 'Skip all' since those cant be deleted even with adminstrator
Great video, thanks. When I want to add another scratch disk to my photoshop "scratch disks" window, only 1 appears even though I have multiple external drives connected. So I don't have the option to add others to the scratch disks. Any suggestions?
@@hotelphotography I found an old external hard drive and formatted it to mac os journal and it worked, but you can't do that on any drive that has important stuff or youll just lose everything.
Thank you for your video, I have an external hardrive added to my mac mini - just a travel sized 1TB drive. When I use the option at start up on photoshop it does not show the additonal drive for me to choose to make the new scratch disk path. How do you enable a new drive to be chosen in the start-up phase of photoshop to get this to work?
Ive seen so many descriptions on how to swap scratch disks but not found one that says how to create a scratch disk so I can swap to it. So frustrating when people just show menu items I can find myself
When is Adobe Photoshop going to realize there cache files are a problem for most computers ... they don't even dump the files when closing app ALSO it DOES NOT let you choose a alternate scratch file location
Thank you for reminding me there's a temp folder. I managed to free up over 60GB of space on my nvme. 10 minutes ago I was on the verge of ordering a larger nvme XD
For me, the Photoshop temp file is only there when Photoshop is opened and disappears when I close Photoshop, not allowing me to delete the file because it is only there when Photoshop is open and then will not delete the temp file because it is open. Is there another way to delete the Photoshop temp files?
ive done all this, and even used the disk cleanup spplication, but when i try to insert a photo (dragging it in) it says scratch disks are full, when i do most things it even says that. if you can, please help me out.
I'm 99% confident that this tutorial video was just copied from a guide online because when I looked for help to point me to where temp files are located on Mac this video literally said the exact same thing.
Did you open settings, then storage, and then give up on explaining what to do from there? I open it, the temporary files, apps and features, desktop are full, I can't use photoshop and you didn't explain what to do, if we delete, if we save the files
This does work. Unfortunately, I'm trying to save something I've spent hours on and it won't let me. I've tried what you've suggested. I HATE photoshop. It gave me no warnings, nothing.
So, as I also had this "Scratch disk Full" error with PhotoShop 7 on Windows10-64bit yesterday, and ALL the given solutions are NOT working, here is mine that works: The problem isn´t in the presence of a "drive bigger than 1TB", it is due to "drive with more than 1 TB free of space" ! So just make an i.e. \TEMP2 folder on that concerning harddrive, and fill it up with some stuff until the free space is less than ca. 950 GB. That´s it. Works like a charm for me.
somehow i still get this message even while using a Lacie SSD with it selected in preferences. I have like 5 TB of free space and still get this 😡 any solutions?

If you still have hella space and are getting this error, check how big your PSD is.. I accidentally had it on 1920x1080 inches instead of pixels
Wow, haha. I would never have thought of that. Good tip!
I was almost out of hope, with sufficient diskspace and all cache cleared, i still got the same error... until i read your comment. You're a star bro!
Omg I am so dumb, I never noticed that I created a template with 1920x1920 in inches instead of pixels LMAO. thank god I found your comment
Thank you so much
Thanks!!
Thank you so much! I spent hours looking at articles with none of them working. 30 seconds in and you solved my problem
Glad it helped you out!
Same here! Thank you greatly! 🙏🏾

Hey! quick tip for %temp%
Just press Ctrl-A (Select All) then press Ctrl-Delete or Ctrl-Backspace
And for some files, press 'Continue with administrator for all' and if it comes up again, just press 'Skip all' since those cant be deleted even with adminstrator
problem is obviously that there is free space available..
Great video, thanks. When I want to add another scratch disk to my photoshop "scratch disks" window, only 1 appears even though I have multiple external drives connected. So I don't have the option to add others to the scratch disks. Any suggestions?
Am having the same problem any way out
Did you ever get this fixed?
@@oliverviscoli Not me. The external disks still so not appear when trying to add another space for the scratch disk.
@@hotelphotography I found an old external hard drive and formatted it to mac os journal and it worked, but you can't do that on any drive that has important stuff or youll just lose everything.
@@oliverviscoli Yeah, I know. But tell me about "mount", does that erase the disks content also?
