- Umar Zameer expressed relief on Sunday after a jury found him not guilty in the death of a Toronto police officer, who died after being fatally run over by Zameer in an underground parking lot on July 2, 2021. "I see today that Canada didn't let injustice happen, so I thank Canada," Zameer said.

Those ‘police officers ‘ should be in jail for lying
He did ran over them but is just not guilty
I agree with you there
Sorry for your ordeal my son, time will heal your pain, am a black mom, it could have happened to any of my sons/daughter or even myself. Kudos to your legal teams, they deserve every penny for their legal fees.
Kudos to the cameras that saved this man's life.
Look at his eyes... how wrong our system is
What were the police up to in the parking lot? Not understanding their role here and not explained.
I heard that they were investigating a stabbing but I might be wrong.
@@suzannec8400Correct, they were investigating a stabbing and Umar's family might have been in the vicinity, so police could have followed them
Always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Ontario police need more training and experience.
He should sue Toronto police and the lying officers it was clearly a mess from, police end, most people would have responded exact same way especially with 2 yr old and pregnant wife in car too.
💯
If he was a Punjabi Sikh 👳🏼♂️, he would not have been prosecuted.
This man is truly sorry, just leave him alone. The cops messed up,and sadly one died. The jury found this man innocent , on the facts.
I been approached by undercover not identifying so don't tell me it doesn't happen, almost anything can happen when leave your home.
Well undercover cops don't have to tell you they're cops
I feel terrible for this man!💓
I am a black mother and my daughter and grandson are white. If I, as the driver, had been rushed by police with them in the vehicle, who knows how I may have reacted to protect my family.
Why mention the colour of your child and grandchild? It added no additional context here
What does the color of your skin have to do with anything. Your comment would have been sufficient without mentioning the color of your skin...
I think she was getting at the fact that the cops would see her as possibly not being their mother and therefore think she was kidnapping them. But I agree that was a dumb thing to bring up cause that is so extremely unlikely to be a thought in someone’s head these days. Seeing white kids with a black woman isn’t exactly considered suspicious at face value these days ma’am🤨 it’s not 1930.
Oh shut it lol
I thought I thaw a putty cat.
I'm from Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, I'm a Cree ladu, I'm so sorry for what you and your family went through, my son would had been treated that way if that was him due to his color of his skin, the police racial profiled you, they made a mistake and they lied..why the police officer died for his racial profiling..🎉
Back story?
He and his family were cornered by plainclothed police in a parking lot, who misidentified him as a criminal. Fearful for his family, he drive on and collide with an officer as he admittedly stand on the blind spot. He was *aquitted for murder after three police witnesses testimonies match each other but not the evidence.
@@purgatory9851Aquitted, not convicted
@@purgatory9851 Thank you.
Sue the police man
What's happened?Who is he?
Anybody can say there police those cops are foolish
Drama is over . Ur free with blood in your hands
Waste of space
at this point i just wonder how many accidents and deaths have been caused by new canadians over the past 4 years who dont ever seem to take responsibility for what theyve done, either intentionally or not.
he needs to be re-tried for manslaughter/accidental homicide caused by negligence, none of his excuses rationalize what happened and if it was a born and raised canadian in the same situation their lives would be over, theyd never be able to work again and the media wouldnt be attempting sympathy reels for them.
The Toronto Police, I’m sure would have made SOME attempt to identify themselves in the executions of their duty on that fateful, tragic day!
I have trouble believing otherwise
One of Toronto’s Finest was killed that day! And the officer who was killed, to my knowledge of following this case, had an impeccable service record.
The defence did not prove that the accused or his family were in any immediate and physical danger. And merely being frightened is not enough to justify striking and killing another human being with a motorized vehicle, let alone a Toronto Police Officer!
The Crown really should appeal this acquittal! It could have been erroneously made based on certain mistakes the trial judge may or may not have made.
And this is not the United States, Canada does not have “double jeopardy” statutes.
Also … people of MINORITIES I find, and this has happened to me personally. Are in the habit these days of WEAPONIZING their obvious skin colour and physical differences in order to curry favour and gain advantage, whatever they may be, in Western Christian countries such as Canada and the United States!
I am stating the truth here. And there are NUMEROUS videos on social media to back my statement up.
It also does not help when “bleeding heart” people, who mostly lean toward the liberal Left on the political spectrum, aid and abet this kind of destructive and evil behaviour.
It troubles me when someone advocates for continuing to press charges even if the defendant was found not guilty by the jury. By the way, I am neither liberal nor left leaning.
@@Wind308 Actually, I was advocating for the Crown to appeal the decision by the jury. Which they can do.
If the Crown seeking any little legal angle to appeal the ruling, despite the summary given by the judge in this case, would de facto be akin to double jeopardy.
In Canada, the principle of double jeopardy is protected under Section 11(h) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
@@Wind308 Appealing a verdict to the Ontario Court of Appeal, and possibly the Supreme Court of Canada is NOT filing charges and trying someone for a second time.
I believe he was inocent from the get go, he and family were out on canada day and the cops were plain closed, my friends son was chased by under cover not knowing it was cops, i clearly see the panic that would have been he was trying to get away with his family and was protecting them, bad accident unfortunate but i never had any dought he was innocent RIPto the officer who lost his life, but this was so unfortunate...😢
Go home!
Make Canada Canadian again
He was acquitted of charges that he was not criminally responsible for. He's not going anywhere.
You don't even have a home.
I bet you would say the same thing to me… and yet my mother who in 85 has never been to Japan and my father who would have been 92, never saw Japan. In fact, his mother was born in Canada in 1908. So think about you and your racist mind. People from all over make up Canada. I’m sick of people like you telling non whites to “go home”. And yeah… it’s happened to me! And another thing… my family has an engineer, architect, stockbroker, nurse, entrepreneur, scientist, business owner, teacher, social worker, audiologist, designer, and many more professions! Why don’t YOU go home????!!! Where are your ancestors from?

Yes please leave !!!
No ones leaving. You leave instead :)
such a foul liar
oh so wonderful to have your opinion! I guess you know more than the Jury right??
